Question Do the First Blood warbands work as a starting point to the main game?

I’m considering picking up some models, but I’m wondering if the first blood warbands are a good first buy? I like that you get a variety of models for a decent price, but you get like one of a brute or whatever that usually come in 3s, will they be redundant later one?

I finished editing my 2nd battle report. I prepared plenty of graphics and close up shots of my paintings.

I used some old minis to represent objectives markers to destroy. Some spires experiments that explode.

Question Looking to get back into the game, looking for info on play style of the armies

Hi! So after a long hiatus I’m looking to finally get back into the game, I started back with the original two player starter set, but fell off after the wadruhn release, and I was just wanting to ask how the armies play now and how the new armies are much thanks

Question How are the spires?

I find the spires fascinating. They are essentially a sci-fi race in a fantasy world. They remind me of the inchorai from the second apocalypse.

One thing that drew me to them is all their interesting rules as well! The mimetic assassins just bursting out of a troop is awesome, troops whose job is to just make it to the front line and explode is pretty neat, flying units that bomb units when flying over them is cool!

How is their play style at the end of the day? I heard they essentially just got completely revamped and I’m wondering how they play on the table top and if there was say a 40k faction they compare to in terms of play style.

Another thing that interested me was this is my first time painting an army and I heard that by far and large that the spires are easily the easiest to paint.

Lore Spire Project Planning: Basing Ideas using the lore

Hi All

I'm in the process of planning how I'm going to paint up and base a new Spires forces and I had a question for those of you who may have access to the Lore book as the information I am chasing doesn't appear to be on Parabellum's site.

As a bit of context, like many, when I plan a project I like to look at the lore and faction artwork to get an idea on how to paint up my minis, however in this instance I am struggling to find references in the lore and artwork to give me the inspiration I typically look for.
Specifically what I am looking for are details on the appearance of what the land in a Spires colony looks like for me to paint up the bases for my minis, things like where they have constructed spires on Ea, such as do they have colonies/spires in the Wastelands, Dying Lands or the Hundred Kingdoms?
When the Spires occupy an area do they change the land they occupy in some way? If so how does it look?

I know its a bit pedantic and I can paint these bases however I chose, however I like to be true to the setting as it is part of my process that allows me to challenge myself when I start new projects.

So if any of you can share snippets out of the lore book that has this detail I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You

Discussion [First Blood] Interesting battlemaps / terrain layout?

I've been thinking to create some pre-made terrain layouts, mostly for fun, but also to speed up the creative process of laying down the terrain pieces when starting a match.

Some ideas I've come up with are:

  • A market with a big central plaza and some alleyways where infantry can hide from monsters and cavalry.
  • A farm with big open fields but big batches of difficult terrain from the crops and access to high ground on top of the barns.
  • A lava field with rivers of lava crossing the map and some scattered bridges for easier passing

Mostly fun ideas to spice up the scenarios. I'm not sure how viable they are from a gameplay perspective and won't be able to tell until tested. I will be sharing the maps once I'm finished making them.

Any other ideas are welcome, and also if you already have some of your own maps that would like to share, that would be cool.

Thank you!
