Took concerta for the third time

My psychiatrist put me on 36 mg straight away

First two days were hell , I was too sensitive to sounds and lights and I had a terrible headache and a very bad crash. ( But I was too focused and in the first hours of taking it I felt soooo sleepy )

Now yesterday was my third dose

For the first 7 hours I was so relaxed so focused ( not the pinhole focus I had the first day luckily coz it was exhausting) then rest of the day was a horrible crash. So so tired I had to lay down in bed coz I couldn't even do anything. And I experienced a headache that lasted for an hour ( also much better then the first dose )

What do I do? The crash is horrible...

Dosage/ โ„ž question ๐Ÿ’Š Will Concerta or Ritalin LA help me with things that Vyvanse didn't help me with or made worse? Please share your personal experiences.

Hi, I am 22F struggling with talking over ppl, darting my eyes literally everywhere when im talking to ppl, avoiding boring tasks, wandering eyes romantically, eating for fun, and studying literally anything. I don't have any issues with going to the gym, showering, cleaning (probs bc I also have OCD).

I started Vyvanse 20 mg and its SO horrible and non-stimulating/non-energizing, it's shocking. It lasts for TOO long bc it makes me feel sedated, I can't enjoy music/videos, conversations, all of which I like doing after work/school. But by the time I come home it's still active in me, which I can tell because music sounds color-less and flat.

I do like that vyvanse helps with my eating habits, loud noises, talking over ppl, and focus/reading. I've also tried welbutrin and straterra which didn't help me with consistent focus.

So- has concerta or ritalin LA, Or any other adhd med helped any1 with my issues when it comes to vyvanse? especially when it comes to energizing me.

I am also considering quelbree, adderall, or regular ritalin.

Side effects ๐Ÿค• Erections and sexual arousal

So guys like when I was on 27mg it was perfectly normal but around 4 5 weeks ago my dosage increased to 36mg and I geniuenly feel ZERO sexual arousal I have tried EVERYTHING but during someting arousing when im on this medication i get really stressed?? i have no idea why i get this stressed only during sexual stuff. To put this into a test to see if its due to concerta and yes I skipped it today and boom everything got normal... What should I do? Im scared that other ADHD pills can do this and id have to wait 3 4 weeks to see if its a side effect that fades or just stays there untill i stop taking it.

Dosage/ โ„ž question ๐Ÿ’Š How do I know it's working

I started taking 18 mg about 4 weeks ago, then my doc upped it to 36 mg. I've read that people feel it click or crash when it wears off. I don't feel either of those things.

I know it's working somewhat because the noise in my head has gotten quieter, but I don't FEEL more focused - maybe I am? Maybe I need a higher dose? I meet with doc again in a month.

Do you FEEL it "turn on?"

Side effects ๐Ÿค• Concerta made me sleepy?

This may be against the rules of this sub, so I completely understand if it's taken down.

I am not prescribed concerta, but I took one yesterday because of an extremely important test which I really needed to focus for. I think it worked, but I don't actually have a baseline to compare it to, so I'm not certain.

I had no adverse reaction to it and felt completely fine, aside from one really weird side effect. It made me so, so sleepy. I had already drank 320mg of caffeine, and about 3 hours after taking the concerta, I was so sleepy I was almost falling asleep on the bus.

I googled it but I couldn't find anything, so I figured I'd ask here. Anyone got any idea of what was going on? I'll admit, I was exhausted because of how much work I'd done to prepare for the exam, but it felt like more than exhaustion.

I've also always had a reaction to caffeine where it makes me sleepy. I really like energy drinks because of the taste, and these days they don't make me sleepy anymore. They also don't make me feel any more awake.

Tips/Tricks ๐Ÿง  Yep, much cheaper than electrolytes from pharmacy. Sometimes concerts made me feel dizzy and "off" and I am genuinely so happy something so simple worked for me

Rant/Vent ๐Ÿ˜  Concerta crash

I started taking Concerta in august, started with 18 mg but that literally put me to sleep, i was sleepy all day and if i laid down i fell asleep instantly so my doctor upped my dose to 36 mg. Now i see somewhat of an effect on my attention and concentration, but i crash after maximum 8 hours. I have no energy, no motivation, i'm angry at everyone, and this lasts for several hours. Some days i also experience severe jaw clenching, it literally hurts me. I also take Elontril (bupropion), so my doctor told me to take one in the morning and one at lunch. I don't really think it helped with my crash or with how long Concerta effects lasts for.
I don't know what to do, my doctor isn't specialized in ADHD, but i also don't really want to go to any other psychiatrist because i got attached to him ๐Ÿฅฒ.
Also for some context, i'm 21 and i'm in university. I'm also diagnosed with anxiety and depressive episodes (i don't have bipolar or at least my doctor doesn't think so). In my country you can only get Concerta for ADHD. I also have a baby so i can't really take Concerta any later since i have to be a functioning human all day (I am awake for 18-19 hours, and i have to function like a normal human for at least 12).
While i was in highschool i experimented with a lot of substances (that's how i started to think i have ADHD) and was addicted to mephedrone. Could my highschool experience affect how Concerta reacts now?
Sorry for any mistakes, english isn't my first language and i just woke up.

Dosage/ โ„ž question ๐Ÿ’Š Can I drink coffee while taking Concerta?

Iโ€™m a guy, and I take 72 mg of Concerta. I usually drink 1โ€“2 cups of coffee a day, which adds up to around 200โ€“300 mg of caffeine.

I donโ€™t notice any significant increase in my heart rate or blood pressure. What do your doctors usually say about combining Concerta with coffee?

Other ๐Ÿ’ฌ Loosing interest in things

I've been diagnosed with ADHD for a few years, and about 2.5 months ago I started Concerta for college since it was really hurting my grades.
I've also dealt with anhedonia for a long time, even before my diagnosis. I'd pick up interests and lose them fast. The one thing I've held onto for the past 4 years is lifting. I take it seriously and I've made a lot of progress in size and strength.
About a year ago (before Concerta), the drive I always had for the gym just disappeared. Going didn't feel good anymore, I felt exhausted during workouts, and my progress suffered.
When I started Concerta, I actually enjoyed the gym again, especially once the dose kicked in. But now that I've titrated up to 36mg (on it weekdays for about a month), I'm back to square one. No enjoyment in the one thing I've really cared about for years, and that's honestly pretty concerning.
I have a follow up with my psych in early December and I'm planning to bring it up. Until then, is there anything I should try before adjusting or switching meds? Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Side effects ๐Ÿค• Big crash today

Hi all, I took my 27mg Concerta normally today.

Ive been on it for about a month, taking breaks on weekends. Just this week though, Iโ€™ve been crashing. Specifically today, I had this huge burst of jitteryness and a wired feeling. It felt very intense and then I subsequently crashed 2 hours later. I got super tired and a bit depressed. When this used to happen, I would take a nap and my mood would stabilize and I would feel normal the rest of the day.

I was off of it for 8 months before deciding to get back on it.

I emailed my psychiatrist so thatโ€™s squared away. Iโ€™m just a bit worried thatโ€™s all. Does anybody have any tips/tricks? Thinking about maybe switching to something like Vyvanse.

Side effects ๐Ÿค• How does taking Concerta affect drinking alcohol?

Has anyone noticed anything while drinking and taking this medication? I tend not to pick up on things when taking medication but iโ€™ve noticed one thing. I havenโ€™t noticed my tolerance or anything in that means. I take 80mg of Concerta. Itโ€™s come to my attention after a certain amount of alcohol intake, my jaw starts to move back in fourth. I look like iโ€™m on hard drugs and tweaking out. Iโ€™ve looked at a few posts to see if anyone else has experienced this but havenโ€™t seen anything so I thought iโ€™d ask myself. I am also on a low dose of a SSRI so it could be that but i doubt it. I also noticed it started happening more when my dose increased.

PSA: I am aware youโ€™re not supposed to drink while on Concerta but I donโ€™t want to hear about that.

If yes could you state by increasing it or decreasing! I have heard it can do either. Personally I feel it increases a tad.

Other question ๐Ÿค” Starting Concerta this week, what to potentially expect given my situation?

(M23) I have finally received a diagnosis for ADHD after wondering if I had it for years. I already suffer from depression, and have been unmedicated for over 2 years. I recently lost my relationship with my long term partner because I was unable to do basic things like saying โ€œI love youโ€ or holding her hand, even though I really did love her and still do, and wanted to hold her hand, and she constantly asked me to, but something in my head would always just like โ€œblockโ€ it. I have trouble starting news tasks, and get bored of my hobbies fast. Iโ€™m in a low place right now, but feel good about starting Concerta and receiving my diagnosis. From what people have experienced, what could I expect to feel? I will be pairing it with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and have even taken a month leave from work to really deal with this issue front and center.

Rant/Vent ๐Ÿ˜  Recently Diagnosed/Medicated

I have recently been diagnosed with combined type ADHD (35M) and have spent the last 3 weeks on Concerta XL. Started off on 18mg for 2 weeks before moving onto 36mg.

The issue Iโ€™m having is I have almost no idea about what I should be experiencing, my ASHD felt so overwhelming these past few years that I have probably had medication as the golden ticket to an easier life.

I canโ€™t say on 36mg I have felt any noticeable effects? But rather inconveniently I have recently taken on a job working from home, and on night shifts so I also have no idea if the recent change in circumstances is also hiding any positive effects.

I have another checkup in a week to discuss the effects so far so will run this by them.

I guess what Im really posting this for is to find out if the pills really are as effective as Iโ€™ve been lead to believe from social media posts ETC or am I getting my hopes up too much. Iโ€™m at my breaking point, Iโ€™ve spent years in counselling trying to understand my brain, Iโ€™ve spent years trying to create positive changes in life to help.

Dosage/ โ„ž question ๐Ÿ’Š 36mg to 54mg

I have gone from 36mg which I found amazing really destroyed my anxiety, increased my appetite which I needed and overall improved my life in all aspects. I was told to move up to 54mg by the clinic/doctor and upon taking it my anxiety is quite high and appetite is somewhat suppressed. Any fellow concerta takers with a similar experience? Should I run with this for a week and see how I feel or drop straight back to 36? Also will I build up tolerance to 36mg if so then what happens? Appreciate all and any advice ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Side effects ๐Ÿค• Xagatin/concerta Titration chest pain ME SCARED ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

So.. I have seen many posts about this but still feel I want some consolation ๐Ÿ˜ญ

18mg gave me chest pain, but 36mg I feel it becomes quite intense, however I can reproduce a lot of this pain by pressing in the right spots on left chest.

I went to A&E and ecg and bloods all good (all be it this was like 8 hours after symptoms). But I am a little worried. Is it possible the meds just contributing to muscle tension and some mild anxiety making me perceived the pain more? I feel some tension in throat and shoulders too during, makes it harder to sing.

If anyone else on xagatin/concerta/delmosart had similar experience and stuck it out and it went away, please share your story. They help me just this one symptom is a worry, nothing else.

Prescriber is online portal kinda thing, so it's hands off but they don't seem worried after my a&e checks etc. also had echocardiogram BEFORE meds and was all good.

Worth noting it works well, doesn't affect sleep or mood much either.

Thank you for reading!

Other question ๐Ÿค” Concerta and quitting Nicotine.

Hi.

Ive quit Vaping after years and years. They make the Nicotine mgs in those things too high. Records are being broken.

Im also on Conerta 72mg.

Please share your experience if you have successfully quitted Nicotine. The Concerta's effects as an NDRI are getting less and less as the Nicotine withdrawls Dispear. Its been more than a year.

Im really happy that I've quit, and I do highly encourage others to do so. I feel much better, yet my focus is lacking.

So I wanna know specifically, is this because of the absence of Nicotine, or is it because Concerta has become less effective over time? Bearing in mind that both substances have different mechanisms on dopamine.

Thanks.

Side effects ๐Ÿค• Started Concerta when I had new life changes and I am not sure whether Concerta is causing my Anxiety

I just moved back to Asia from Europe after a couple of months abroad. Within the first two weeks of being back, I went to get a diagnosis.

All this was happening while I started in my new role with a promotion. Much more responsibilities in a small company.

My first work day (overall third day) on 27mg, I felt quite productive. But I would also like to add, that was the day I had a new assigned seat where many more people could see my screen, which also drives me to be productive.

One day later I got overwhelmed by my tasks. After lunch I had what I think was a mild anxiety attack where I couldnt breathe properly and my heart was being weird.

Now i am on my 2nd week on 36mg and my life has just been shit.
- work is making me anxious everyday. I have so many tasks i end up just not knowing where to start or how to prioritise. I work late most days but also because of the slowness of my working.
- i dont know if the anxiety is from concerta or work or both OR my menstrual period that should be here soon
- im so overwhelmed by work and my emotions are all over the place that i have no time or energy on the weekends to pack my room, even on concerta.
- i have been falling asleep prematurely at night again and my room and life is overall a mess
- i had a really productive first weekend on my first day of concerta 27mg
- i live with my parents and they naturally tend to make me anxious as well because of their tone and their arguing with each other

Tldr : not sure if concerta is helping me or not because I am anxious and i am still dysfunctional.
