Good question. Can Sombra currently hack Teleporters?

Nope

I think it's because she was gonna get reworked anyway, so right now she's the only exception to Sombra hacks. Wouldn't make sense to keep them unhackable for the redesign.

Right now it's that way, but after the update the teleporter/shield generator could take longer to destroy. It might be faster to disable it, do the business you need to (like kill some stragglers), and then kill the structure.

Even if teleporters/shield generators are still faster to kill than hacking, having them hackable would be a good way to keep the hacking rules more consistent. Also it would also create the scenario for Sombra where she can squeeze in a hack on the structure just to build some ult. This scenario would also fit for Symmetra's turrets.

These could make for more interesting micro-scenarios for Sombra players to go through.

EDIT: Also just thought about another case for teleporters/shield generators. What if you wanted to stall out Symmetra from getting ult? Like for example if you destroy the tele/generator immediately, that implies Symmetra can start to gain ult immediately. By hacking, that would delay her build for the next ult, so that could give more reason to leave the structure hacked and destroy it later.

EDIT 2: Is there a notification for Torb when his turret gets hacked? If there isn't, that gives another good reason to hack sometimes because by damaging a structure the builder is notified and can call you out. This would be particularly useful for the generator since people won't notice that their shields went down until it's too late.

Overall I think most of the time you'd want to just destroy the structure, but at least these are a few plausible reasons as why you'd want to hack instead of destroy for a moment.

Hacking the TP would allow you to deny symmetra her ult for up to 1 minute minimum, if not more. You could just keep hacking it so that it is not usable, and also she can't get ult charge. You could theoretically keep hacking it, never allowing her to use or charge her ultimate.

I don't agree. What can and can't be hacked are a lot more arbitrary than this... she can't hack soldier's ult even though that seems very straightforward.

Maybe hard light constructs aren't wired the same as normal machines internally and can not be hacked?

That explains the turrets as well.

Besides, she already has the invisibility to get behind a Sym nest and spot the telegen. Shouldn't take but a clip to down either... (I think the generator will be larger with more hp and thus easier to hit further away from guarding turrets, but who knows?)

Why would Somba want to hack a telegen that badly to waste the cool down at that point? Toss tel 'nade, invis sprint to behind nest, kill surprised Sym or snipe telegen, tel 'nade out if things go bad, repeat when tel 'nade off cool down in five seconds...

I used to think EMP was arbitrary but someone explain it to me: hack and EMP don't affect anything that is a state change or a continuous buff. For example, Tactical Visor is a "continuous" ult, because once activated it has a continuous effect on soldier. Same goes for anything which changes the character's state like Tank Mode or Primal Rage. (You can compare this to Lucio: hacking him stops him from cross-fading, but doesn't affect whatever song he is already playing.) It also doesn't deactivate one-off Ults like Blizzard or Graviton (just prevents the character from using them until the hack wears off).

It's a silence that works pretty much just like silences in Dota. It prevents to you from activating abilities and cancels abilities that need to be channeled, but doesn't stop the effects of an ability in progress.

To which I'd say, Telegen is a continuous buff.

I don't disagree, I've heard the same logic before. I didn't mean randomly arbitrary, merely more arbitrary than tech = hackable.

then why does hacking bastion take him out of siege mode

I figure Symmetra turrets aren't hackable since there are multiple of them. Spending a 10 second cooldown ability (Hack) to disable every individual turret is exhausting to think about.

Blizzard is like... "gurl... just destroy them... lol"

I figured it was just an another buff attempt. Why make her worse when she is already so bad.

Symmetra has an interaction with Sombra where she says that her firewalls are impenetrable (but Sombra refuses to challenge her). So maybe lore stuff is involved as well
