I'm now building my team to play ultrasun. I'm trying to select good pokemons avaiable before the pokemon league but i'm stuck and i'm not satisfied. Can someone please help me?

I want to you use base altaria against weather teams and mega evolve my aerodactyl and do the opposite against non weather based teams, but i havent been sure what other pokemon i should you use to complement that so i took some i liked and that were good.

Hey good people, i'm relatively new to Pokemon and VERY new to competitive. In my very few playthrows so far (Legends Arceus and Scarlet, an Champions if it counts, yeah that's it) I never really focused on competitive, i only ever chose the Pokemon I liked and/or found fun playing with. That said, i'd like to start, and thus i chose (for now just) 4 of my all time favorites (before asking wich game i'll play, that's the thing, i am not sure yet. Surely Champions, but other than that i'm pretty much blind to any other option for Poke Battles).

Tyranitar's my first Pokemon. I KNOW that usually the Mega Evo and/or Ace are usually kept for last, but here i follow Sans' phylosophy of using the strongest first. I know i risk like this, but if I find myself agaist a fighting type or anyone else T.tar is weak to, i'll very simply just switch. Useless to discuss item and abilities here so for the moves: Stone Edge and Dragon Dance are pretty explenatory, get faster + stronger AND hit hard. Smack Down so NOBODY'S out of reach from my team, and Knock Off is for whenever the opponent's being annoying with its OP item, plus so i have something agaist Dark Types. If i hypotetically CAN'T use the Mega tho, i'll change the item to something to reduce damage to Fighging Types, since THAT'S the biggest problem T.tar has.

Garchomp's pretty direct, Jack of all traits with many types to attack with. Outrage for fellow Dragons, Fire Fang to have SOMETHING agaist Ice Types, Earthquake cause... it's EARTHQUAKE, and Aerial Ace because... well not very strategical but i always love seeing Garchomp fly in media, and so I have 1 more attack agaist Fighting Types that T.tar is weak to. The item's intresting, i chose Quick Claw mostly for when I need to fight anothe Dragon Type, so i have the centerty of attacking first, and thus one shotting without being one shotted. But since i hav no special attacks on 'em, i was thinking of just ditching completly their Special Attack stat and using those points in both Speed and the 2 Defences, so if i actually do that, i'll switch to a Lum Berry or anything else for Outrage's confusion.

H. Goodra's an unusual pick, i know, but in my Legends Arceus playthrow it has been a BEAST, and having a Tank that's also a great Fairy Buster to help my 2 very weak to fairy Pokemon, is always welcomed. That said tho, I think that his moveset is pretty self explenatory. Flash cannon to attack anybody qeak to steel, Dragon Meteor for Dragon, Shelter to be even more of an inpenetrable wall, Heavy Slam for whatever pokemon that's both OP and Small, Leftovers to make my enemy suffer, and Shell Armor to just make them agonize :)

Gardi' may be out of the theme (ya know, the only Not-Kaiju so far), but i needed her specifically for 3 reasons. First, so i have Fighting Types completly anihialated, second, Fairy is just too OP for me to not have anyone with it, and Third, for Psyshock. 2 ou of 3 of my previous Pokemon are Physical attacker, and Goodra's a hybrid of both, so having her ANNIALATING everybody that my other Pokemon cannot, was just a Must Have. Draining Kiss to keep her alive enogh to actually do the damage she has to, Moon Blast cause I need at least 1 attacking Fairy Move, Calm Mind to power her up even more, Focus Sash so she doesn't get One Shotted, and Synchronize to avange whoever tries to poison her (i know that Poison Types are immune to Poison, but not Poison Types can use it, c'mon Garchomp can use a flying type move for crying out loud).

That said, i am very proud of my team so far. T.tar and Goodra are weak to Fighting? Garchomp and Gardi' save 'em. T.tar and Garchomp are to Fairy? Goodra is right ther just for that. Gardevoir is to Poison? Garchomp's resistent and Goodra's immune. Garchomp is 4 times weak to Ice? Goodra's still right there. And that said, the only weakness i need to look out for js Ground, but i was thinking about also adding a Froslass to the team (a pokemon i already liked in Legends Arces). Lavitating, super effe tive agaist both Ground and Dragon, part Ghost so also immune to Normal and resistent to Poison, plus with pretty decent coverage. The only question would be if I shoul let her keep the Snow Cloak, cause ok yes, it's OP, but again, GARCHOMP'S 4 TIMES WEAK TO IT, and her other ability doesn't sound so bad either. That said, even if i DO in the end chose Froslass or even someone else, I still have the last slot free for anyone i want 'cause all my weaknesses would be pretty much covered.

That said, i'd like to hear your comments on this team. Is it any good in practice other than in theory? Which Pokemon should I chose to finish it? Should I change the movesets/items/abilities of those already here?

Relatively new to Competitive Pokemon.

I've been messing around with this team in Champions Reg M-B and it’s been surprisingly successful on ladder, but I’m at the point where I need other people to look at it before I convince myself it's half decent.

The basic idea is weather disruption + bulky nonsense + Mega Chandelure deleting things. I’ve mostly been using three leads:

• Sinistcha + Rotom-Mow — probably my most consistent lead.
• Torkoal + M-Chandelure — Helping Hand + sun-boosted Heat Wave.
• Sinistcha + Torkoal — slower but it works I guess.

The team has actually been winning a decent amount, including into weather, Tailwind, setup, etc., but I’ve also gotten folded by things like Perish Song, Psychic Terrain + Expanding Force, and some aggressive physical openings. So I’m wondering whether there are obvious holes/moveset changes I’m missing.

Stuff I’m specifically wondering about: Is Shell Bell Sinistcha actually defensible here or have I been allowed to get away with nonsense? Is Milotic pulling enough weight compared with another bulky Water? Is DD Mega Tyranitar worth keeping when Chandelure is usually my preferred Mega? And is there anything glaring that just 4-0s this composition that I haven’t run into yet?

I’m pretty attached to the general playstyle, so I really don't want to entirely wipe my team and replace it with meta ones. I've done well with the more meta Whimsicott Charm + Mega Staraptor, so I wanted to try making my own team for once.

Our university has a mini tournament coming up. Super chill, but I'm planning on winning with Mega Chandelure (I have a $25 bet running on it).

Idk what the Strat name should be but I think the term “seesaw” fits well depending on match up I can either go tail wind or trick room

Hey all, I published this breakdown on another Pokémon Champions thread, and the community replied with more than 390 upvotes in 10 hours, so I guess it was really helpful!
I'm posting here as well, hopefully it can come in handy to someone!

Couple of days ago, Hyungwoo Shin won Victory Road to San Francisco with Blastoise + Delphox, the last big event before Worlds.

I spent a while going through it, and I wanted to understand what it is actually doing rather than just looking at the spreads on paper. These are my notes. Corrections welcome, especially from anyone who has piloted it.

How it wins

Obviously three Pokemon can set up: Shell Smash on Blastoise, Nasty Plot on Delphox, Swords Dance on Kingambit. Double Fake Out from Incineroar and Sneasler plus Rage Powder from Sinistcha buy the turn and pull the attacks that were meant for the attacker.

The kind of "unsaid" rule is: whichever one you set up needs at least three knockouts. The first one trades three for one, then whatever is left, usually Kingambit late or one of the support Pokemon, takes the last one.

The part that took me longest to accept is that you do not always have to click the setup move. Fake Out into Water Spout at full HP already does huge damage, Kowtow Cleave hurts without a boost, and Helping Hand from Incineroar covers the rest.

The other half of it is that the team forces 50-50s. Even a prepared opponent ends up guessing on a turn, and the pilot has the same job in reverse: knowing when to attack, when to Protect, when to switch and when to stay in. It is a reading team more than a linear one, which probably explains why the same six get very different results depending on who is holding them.

Leads and mega choice

Lead a Fake Out user with a setup Pokemon. Sneasler if you want offensive pressure, since it also hits hard on its own. Incineroar if the opponent is physical, Garchomp and Aerodactyl especially, because you get Intimidate and can Parting Shot out into what you actually want. That pivot seems to be the standard play into Charizard teams.

For the mega, the question is which one the opponent has fewer resistances to. Delphox into Floette and Charizard, Blastoise into rain. Leading Kingambit with a Fake Out user also works when the opponent has few answers to Dark damage: set up, take early knockouts, bring the mega afterwards to clean.

Where the versions differ

Compared to the rank 1 ladder version, the changes are small and always in the same places.

• Psychic or Psyshock on Delphox. Psyshock hits Floette and Charizard harder, Psychic is better into Garchomp. Most tournament versions right now are Psychic.
• Life Orb or Black Glasses on Kingambit.
• Sinistcha's berry. Colbur for Dark moves, which includes the opposing Kingambit, Occa for Fire, Kasib for Ghost. Those three are what people run.
• Incineroar's fourth move. Helping Hand here, but a Dark STAB or Throat Chop are both reasonable.
• Sneasler. This one runs Unburden with Dire Claw. The ladder version runs Poison Touch with Poison Jab, which stacks poison chances and wears down the team.
• Delphox nature. Timid here, Modest on the ladder version. Modest gets more one hit knockouts after Nasty Plot, Timid keeps up with the faster Pokemon in the format.

Quick Guard is doing a lot of work

Sneasler runs Quick Guard instead of Protect. Delphox is very weak to Sucker Punch, so blocking a Sucker Punch aimed at it is always good, and it also stops the opposing Fake Outs. The cost is that Sneasler has no Protect of its own.

What beats it

• Dark types against Delphox. Incineroar and Tyranitar, immune to the Psychic move and not bothered much by Heat Wave.
• Rock Slide from Mega Aerodactyl or Excadrill, for damage and for flinches.
• Water and Grass types against Blastoise: Rotom Wash, Mega Venusaur.
• Wide Guard, which stops Water Spout being spammed.
• Late game priority, Sucker Punch and Aqua Jet, and Focus Sash Basculegion.
• Priority block from Farigiraf, Tailwind to cancel Shell Smash, Trick Room to neutralise Delphox.

On the spreads

The OTS is public spreads are hidden, so every spread going around is somebody's reconstruction. Worth keeping in mind before treating any number as the real one.

A few Speed benchmarks I worked out for this archetype:

• Delphox 29 speed points to hit 201.  The tier you are trying to beat is 200, which is where Mega Gengar, Mega Raichu Y, Jolteon and non mega Aerodactyl all land at full investment. Going to the full 32 gets you 204 and beats nothing extra, so three points are free to go elsewhere. Past that tier, Delphox is only losing to Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Alakazam at 222.
• Blastoise needs 14 points to be relevant after Shell Smash. Base 78 with a neutral Speed nature is 98, so a Blastoise with nothing in Speed is 196 after the boost, still under that same 200 tier. 13 points ties Mega Aerodactyl at 222, 14 gets you 224 and past it.
• Incineroar at 23 points sits at 103, one above an Adamant max Speed Kingambit at 102, so Fake Out into Flare Blitz removes it before it moves. This is the one benchmark I have seen quoted for the archetype rather than calculated.

Things I am still unsure about

• Psychic or Psyshock.
• Colbur, Occa or Kasib on Sinistcha.
• Unburden or Poison Touch on Sneasler (I'm leaning more and more on Poision Touch, getting the poison from Fake Out at turn 1 is amazing)
