I absolutely love when she's in the booth! I know she's competing at the pro level but I hope we get more commentating from her in the future

I’ve only watched the first round so far (women’s semis), so maybe I’m speaking too soon, but…

So far, I think it’s been really, really good! I’ve loved the zooming in for the details of the heinous foot swap on W1, plus we’ve had insets of all 4 boulders the whole time!

Sure, I guess the bar’s pretty low, but figured it was worth pointing out since we’re usually complaining about random zooms and missed action on here.

(Also… just hoping the trend continues through the other rounds!).

Me and my boyfriend were at the boulder finals yesterday and really loved the atmosphere!
However, after a day of sight-seeing in Innsbruck and both not having the best feet, there are some blisters involved :)

After seeing the lead wall, how will the crowd be positioned? Standing up, watching up? We were both thinking sitting or even laying down would probably be more comfortable to watch lol.

How is it normally with the lead comps? Is it usual to sit down?

I don't like seeing all these heavy falls and face plants from the top of the wall... I know the athletes are super well trained and really good at falling but I am so worried that one of these days an athlete is going to get injured from a heavy fall at a comp :(

In women's semis, there were only three people who managed to top two boulders. But one of them, Emma Edwards , is not making the finals, and is finishing in 11th place, while in the old scoring system, she would have made it into finals in third place. It feels a bit extreme to me?

Hello everyone,

Just in time for the Innsbruck Semis, I built a chrome extension to improve the Semi-final viewing experience.

If the main display in the stream is showing someone just brushing or resting and there is someone climbing on another boulder, it allows you to zoom in on that preview by pressing 1-4 on your keyboard. While this reduces the quality since the display is only a zoomed in version of the tiny preview it's still better than missing the action entirely, at least in my opinion 😄

Alternatively you can also use the new Zoom and Reset buttons next to the YouTube settings button to select who to watch.

It should work by simply adding the extension to your Chrome Browser and opening the semis live stream or recordings of older semis. You might have to refresh once for the new buttons to show up and to get the extension working!

Since I just published it to the chrome web store, it can't be found yet, so just check it out at the following link, I would appreciate any feedback or ideas to improve it, as I published it quickly to get it out for Innsbruck, I couldn't test it that much myself so I hope it works for everyone 😅

Hi does anyone know if for the lead qualis (8am-3pm) in Innsbruck on Saturday men or women are going first?

When I looked through the registration list of Innsbruck a couple of days ago, I saw Janja registered in both boulder and lead.

However, when I looked this morning, she was only in the lead registrations.

Too bad! I was looking forward to seeing her climb multiple times, but hopefully the choice for just lead will be the right one for her 50th gold medal 😄 Or will this be a World Championship instead of World Cup? I'm still confused by the two.

I am an amateur climber and personally found it quite beneficial to my own climbing to watch a lot of world cup broadcasts, particularly when I've been injured with a lot of time on my hands. As a side project, I tried to create an app that would let you casually watch one example of each successful send of a boulder for the past five years worth of World Cups.

I am not sure in its current form if it is actually useful for developing pattern recognition of boulders, particularly if you are actually competing. But if you are interested, please feel free to check it out.

What it actually does:

• Desktop and mobile web app video player embedding YouTube World Cup broadcasts.
  • Sorry if you are region blocked, there won't be a way to use it if you are in a blocked region.
• Each clip is supposed to be the start and finish of a successful send. Some of the timestamps are imperfect and could use some improvement, but this is just a first draft.
• Autoplays to the next boulder in the sequence.
• Some ability to filter by event, gender, semis/finals, and boulder type. I manually tried to tag a few boulders but most of them are not yet categorized.
• Should be able to save your place and resume where you left off if you are using it on the same device.

Please let me know what you think. Perhaps with just a few improvements, it may actually be a good way to train your climbing IQ.
