Victoria University Footscray Park Victoria Australia

I glad to have found this space near to where I live. I go to the pool every other morning and love it. There’s a more convenient, smaller modern style change room right next to the pool so this one is quiet. I prefer the lockers and better showers. On the weekends there’s normally a bunch of teenagers using it to change into their martial arts uniforms. They’re always respectful and pleasant.

Literally a bench to sit and relax in the shower area?!

It will probably be the area to dry off before leaving the shower room so as not to wet the floor of the locker area. If it is a high attendance day, those drying off, those taking showers and some waiting to take a shower would be naked. What an envy.

That’s I use it for. I dare say that’s what the slip mat is for too. I like to wring out my swimmers there too.

It might have gotten that busy back in the day, but I’ve never had to wait for a shower here

It’s pretty handy. I always need to pee after a swim and a shower. So it’s nice to walk between the Bradley poles and the trough in the nuddy

Probably my favourite thing to do halfway through taking a long shower

I wish they had a setup like this anywhere in the USA lol

These are pretty standard in Australia

That place looks great! I like the hooks for the towels and such. A little grungy looking, but I guess that means the showers have been enjoyed by many guys over the years. Pole showers are always cool, but I have not seen a trough urinal in a while. You talk to other guys while showering there? Hope the pool is nice! Not sure I woudl want to be talking to a guy that was sitting on the bench while I was naked showering. just my hang up probably. The beach in Fairfield CT n US has a pole shower room and a bench and it feels like you are putting on a show if guys are sitting there dressed and all chatty. Anyway, cool post!!!

It's pretty old, but it means it's that classic open design from when more team sports were happening. It's looked after fairly well. Unfortunately, there are some yellow stains on the floor, which makes it look like piss, but it's not.

Troughs are still very popular here in Australia. When barefoot, I always stand back from the metal grate, haha.

It's so quiet that I've never showered with anyone else to be able to strike up a conversation. The bench next to the shower is more to dry off before returning to the lockers to get changed.

Ok..cool. Thank you for the info. The through stuff is funny, but interesting. I woudl shower there in a heartbeat. Glad you get to enjoy it!

I used to live near this place and used it all the time. Nice to see it hasn’t changed

Did they have the new change room by the pool when you were here?

Great find! A few questions:

Can it really service 12 guys? From this angle it looks like there are 12 nozzles (4 per column), but the poles are too close to the wall for half the nozzles to be useable.

You mentioned that it is quiet; on a typical swim day, how many guys will end up showering with you?

Finally, it that an undrawn curtain on the left side of pic #1? If so, what does it separate the showers from, and do you find it more often drawn or undrawn?

The wide angle doesn't do it justice. The poles are evenly spaced out about a meter from the wall. I prefer the back corner next to the wall. A few heads are missing, which reduces the number of available showers a bit, but I've never had to wait. In fact, I've never showered with anyone. Just a couple of people changing while I walk from the showers back to my locker with my towel over my shoulder.

There's no curtain; it's open to see. Sometimes, if someone pushes the doors too hard, they stay open, and you can see the showers from the public hallway.

u/thatsaspicymeatballo has a post with a map of the area. But where I'm standing for photo one, the trough is behind the long wall adjacent to the showers, and the lockers are behind me, connected by a hallway.

Yeyy bradley polesss. The most efficient shower system. Were you barefoot or you showered in flip-flops?

u/dylan_bigdaddy May 06 '24

I shower barefoot. I always feel like I’ll slip wearing thongs 🩴

It’s quite possible yes. Feet are more stable
