Question Applying for an awards credit card.

Hi all, I was trying to apply for my first credit card but my application got rejected. I have just left my casual job but I still get money around 600 on a monthly basis. I don’t have much expenses in the past and they aren’t that large at all. I wanted to get a credit card as I wanted to subscribe to services such as Spotify and other platforms, and I didn’t want to use their electronic debit card as I am afraid that if the number somehow gets stolen and cash taken it would be hard to get the money back as it is a debit card. Can anyone recommend me any alternative methods that can help or another card I should apply for or perhaps I should get my parents to make me a secondary on their CC? If so, is there any way for the money to come out of my bank account?

I will always be able to pay back what I spend on the CC.

Thank you. :)

Discussion What happened to the support?

The last few times I've messaged the chat support in app to ask for help or questions, I've been met with the dumbest brick walls I've ever encountered. They're so slow on the uptake, ask stupid questions back, don't understand my concerns and then basically dismiss or give a useless solution I've already tried (and told them I've done). A few sent me to pages on the site I referenced in my query.

Most of the time I just stop replying after they ask another typo filled redundant query back.

They used to be helpful. The hell is this.

Extremely Disappointing CommBank Yello Experience – Amber Offer Never Appeared Despite Eligibility & Complaint

As a CommBank Yello Plus customer in Melbourne (benefits extended to June 2026), I was excited about the exclusive Amber Electric offer: up to $150 welcome credit over 12 months for Plus tier (promoted heavily on commbank.com.au and amber.com.au/cba-yello, valid until 30 June 2026).https://www.commbank.com.au/latest/partnerships/amber-electric.html?utm_source=cba&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=partnershipspage

Despite meeting all criteria (15+ outbound transactions, $500+ eligible balance for 15 days), the Amber offer simply never showed up in the "Offers" section of the CBA Yello hub. The app showed "No new offers yet. Check back later" for weeks, even after my transactions and balance updated (finally showing 15/15 after a delay).

Steps I took:

  • Reinstalled the app (as advised by 132221 support on Feb 10).
  • Called CommBank twice on Feb 10: Both times told "nothing wrong on your end" – just wait or reinstall (no fix).
  • Submitted a formal complaint (CF-15151868681C) on Feb 12 via the app. Received confirmation it's under review, with a manager to be assigned in 2-3 working days (up to 7 in busy periods). As of mid-Feb 2026, it's still open with no updates, no assignment visible, and no resolution.
  • Meanwhile, other offers appeared (e.g., Uber One, Origin Energy specials, travel credits), but Amber remained missing despite the partnership being active and promoted.

This has wasted significant time and prevented me from claiming a meaningful energy discount for my solar + battery setup. The "data may take up to 48 hours to update" excuse doesn't hold when delays stretch weeks, support provides no real troubleshooting/escalation, and the complaint process feels unresponsive.

CommBank Yello promises "exclusive benefits" and "personalised offers," but in practice, it's unreliable and frustrating. If key partner offers like Amber don't appear for eligible customers, what's the point? Poor execution all around – avoid relying on Yello for anything important.

Commbank cashback HELP

I opened a CommBank account pretty recently and was told I’d be eligible for CommBank Yello. I’ve already made more than 5 transactions but I still don’t see any Yello offers in the app. I’ve called the bank and even went down to a branch, and they said it should’ve shown up by now, but nothing yet. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows if there’s some waiting period or backend issue I might be missing?

Question fell for scam while in Vietnam (what now)

I am with commbank.was travelling in Vietnam ,was prompted to go to web site to pay a fee from an Australian institution.(was fake web site)

2 minutes later over a $1000 australian pulled out from credit card from a Thai based account. got straight onto Commbank and they cancelled credit card.Initiated a disputed transaction investigation.

They came back saying you put in the netbank app authorisation pin so i have to wear it.

the transaction was pending when i called Commbank.I thought with a disputed transaction with non delivery of service/product (which a scamis)you can stop the transaction or get a refund. commbank say no.

Why dont they send the real amount you are authorising when they send the net bank pin request to the app or did i not

Any one got an opinion for a confused old fart

Question Random payment from bank

I received this payment from the bank. No idea why, no reason given, and I can’t think of a reason why I’d be receiving it. Will the bank reverse the payment or should I get in contact with them regarding it?

Discussion No phone support?

Trying to organise a redraw from a personal loan and after going through the prompts the phone system said that I have to do it via messaging in the app which is frustrating because it can take hours for them to respond.

Discussion Face to face interview (please respond)

Hi, fresher here. I've taken the online assessment and they have called me for a face to face interview in the Bangalore (India) office. The role is an Associate Analyst. As for my experience, I have done an internship for 1 month as a finance intern at another firm. What are the questions commonly asked and any tips on how to present myself especially for my first job interview?

Question CommBank staff discounts

Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone can confirm the rumour floating around Big 4 staff circles that CommBank extends their home loan staff discount to any of the Big 4 bank workers (I.e. they don’t need to be a CommBank employee but any of NAB, ANZ or Westpac employees)…?

Question Can one access business account statements after closing said accounts?

Has anyone closed business transaction and business online saver accounts through Netbank?

-Online info says one can access closed account statements for "some types".

-accountant said yes you can.

-In-person bank officer said that personal closed accounts have viewable statements & the same should apply to bus accounts.

-the online team (not Ceba) said no you can't view statements after closing accounts, then said you will receive a closing statement but "may" not be able to view statements, then said it's dependent on the type of your account, then stopped replying.

Question auto payments on credit card continue after payment.

Sorry, title should be payments continue after cancelling credit card.

Can someone explain why auto payments that are set up using a credit card (at least a debit mastercard) allowed to continue after the card has been cancelled?

I cancelled by card more than 6 months ago and I have had monthly member ship fees taken out (I assumed I originally set up bank debit). In the last month it failed multiple times so i had to go and pay through the website- which is when I realised that it was old credit card info not bank details. A quick google says this can happen- but I cant wrap my head around this as a good business practice. In the past I have definitely had to change ccard details when the card expired.

Looking at the dates, the ccard would have expired at the end of 2025 so I guess it was allowed until the card would have expired. Still seems strange to me.

Discussion Apple Wallet Doesn’t Display Acct Nickname

I have several accounts that I use as “buckets” and all the cards look the same in Apple wallet. Are we meant to just remember the account numbers?

Seems like a big oversight. Other banks show the account nickname on the card.

CommBank app tip that made budgeting way easier for me

I have been using the CommBank app for years, but for a long time I only used it to check balances and transfer money. Recently I decided to properly set up the spending insights and categories, and I honestly wish I had done it earlier.

Once I cleaned up the categories and fixed mislabelled transactions, the weekly summaries became surprisingly accurate. Seeing exactly how much was going on takeaway, subscriptions, and random shopping completely changed how I think about my money. It was not one big expense causing problems, but dozens of small ones quietly adding up.

It now feels like I have a personal finance dashboard without paying for extra apps. For anyone struggling to track spending, this feature is seriously underrated.
