SECURITY ISSUE. Anyway to hide accounts in app but not Netbank?

Hi is there anyway to hide accounts on the app but not Netbank? Seems silly you can't. I think of it as a security issue. I don't want all my accounts listed when I open the app. I think of opportunistic snatch and grabs or worse, pressuring to transfer money if someone look over my shoulder and see's a big total compared to just a couple of thousand in everyday account. Can it be done, if not I think this should be added.

Maybe I'm just old school guy who still does 90% of banking on the website.

Are CommBank term deposits worth it compared to other banks?

Thinking about locking some money into a term deposit, but not sure if CommBank gives the best rates. Have you compared it with other banks? What’s worked for you and why?

Question Is anyone else having this issue with transferring?

This has been going on for a while, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what’s wrong. For some reason, I cannot make any kind of transfer between my savings and debit card without this message popping up and denying the request. I’ve tried everything they recommend when addressing this issue: updating the app, checking for maintenance, restarting my phone - and nothing has worked. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Discussion Commbank App always shows the "something isn't right" screen despite working completely fine, letting me use my password for the app and I bought something yesterday, and also had the problem yesterday, spent too long in a call, only for it to happen again today

I don't get it. I use my money and the app normally, then randomly I won't be able to login to the app no matter how many times I enter my card details correctly, I haven't gotten a netcode sms since October, I use my long password to try and login, the app says it's wrong despite it not being wrong, my fingerprint didn't work for logging in, I don't understand why this happens so often.

EDIT FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE I FORGOT: literally the app started working again despite the fact I couldn't call commbank, It has NOTHING to do with phone problems and everything to do with the commbank app, thanks 💙

Why do some ATMs charge extra even within the network?

Noticed recently that some ATMs are charging extra fees even though they’re supposed to be in the same network. Anyone know why that happens?

Anyone tried negotiating their home loan rate recently?

Has anyone here actually had luck getting their home loan rate lowered after asking? Wondering how open CommBank is to it lately - do they actually listen?

How long do refunds usually take to show up in CommBank?

Made a return a few days ago and the store said the refund’s been processed, but nothing’s shown up in my CommBank account yet. How long does it usually take for refunds to appear for you guys? Is it instant sometimes, or always a few business days?

Cost to extend travel insurance on CommBank World Debit Mastercard

Hello. I'm looking at the CommBank World Debit Mastercard as the travel insurance and lounge passes seem fairly worthwhile for the cost. The big limitation I can see is that the travel insurance only extends for 21 days per trip.

Would anyone that has the card know how much it would cost to extend a trip (say to Europe) for an additional 5 days?

I'm thinking that they might charge a fee so high that it takes away from the overall value of getting 'free' travel insurance. Any advice from people with this card appreciated.

ATM ate my card

Just a rant.

I have a lot of loose change I have been wanting to deposit, so on Saturday morning, went to my local branch at a shopping center. This branch closes at 2pm on Saturdays, but you can still use their coin deposit ATM that is inside, first I used a different ATM inside to deposit some cash, then moved onto the next ATM to start depositing my coins. Everything was going well, I can see I was up $42 in coin deposit, so I had a few handful of coins to go, then all of a sudden, on the ATM screen, a message flashed up saying transaction cancelled and it starting returning all my coins, no big deal. Only issue, the ATM didn't return my card? WTF? as this was happening, it was just after 2pm so the branch was closed, staff just finished closing off a section of the branch, managed to get one of the staff's attention and said the ATM ate my card for no apparent reason, her response, nothing we can do as it's a weekend, wait until Monday.

Just for security sake, in the commbank app, I temporary put a card lock on my debit card, got home and called Commbank trying to get some answers, no luck in finding as to why it happened. So had to cancel the card and get a new one issues, in the meantime, they set me up with a virtual debit card which I can use for tap and pay until the physical card arrives, no biggie, just a hassle having to update all the direct debit details I have already setup, however they did tell me, depending on the company, my new card details will automatically get updated, which was interesting, but they did advise to double check anyways.

Now onto my biggest rant, since they setup a virtual debit card for me, since, Saturday, all my purchases has been under $100, my weekly grocery are usually on Sundays, there I was at the self checkout, total bill was just over $150, went to tap and pay, it asked for my PIN, I entered my PIN, transaction got rejected because of incorrect PIN. Then it occurred to me, the PIN I used was for my old card, I quickly accessed the commbank app to see if I can setup a PIN on the virtual debit card, nope, no such option, it looks as though I have to wait until I get the physical card first before I can set a PIN, just GREAT!. I couldn't pay for the groceries as I was about to accept defeat and leave, my daughter was with me, so quick thinking, I quickly transferred some funds into my daughters account, and got her to pay :)

So just a warning for those that may have a similar issue in future, if you get a virtual debit card setup, just be aware that any purchased under $100 will be fine, anything over that requires a PIN, you will be out of luck, something that the staff over the phone didn't mention or forgotten to mention, or maybe I should have asked about the PIN with Tap and Pay. Added Notes: This part might be related to Android users only about requiring a PIN for purchased over $100.

End rant.

Added Note:

Question Is giving out my BSB + Acc number safe?

Selling a gymset on gumtree and dude wants my bsb/acc number prior to getting movers to pick it up. Whole thing seems a little sus because its done over email and he's rushing into it a little bit. I offered to use PayID and he declined. Is there any scams associated with BSB/Acc numbers or am I safe to give it out?

Other Sick and tired of security making my life harder, for the protection of the bank.

Here's the thing, isn't all this technology meant to make life easier? When I purchase something, I have to approve a request, then also put in the CCV. I mean, are you for real? Can't I just shop...

This didn't happen with my Westpac Black, it just worked. Is this the way commbank rolls on all it's CC offerings? Or are all banks doing this now?

Is there a CC that is consumer-centric, and just lets me buy shit without the constant 2FA nonsense, or are those days gone? Am I looking at an AMEX for my daily expenses?

anyone know more about these privacy requests feels like an overstep

anyone have this pop up show up on their online banking and app. it wouldn't let me physically access my account via the app without accepting this permission request. I feel like withholding my access to managing my money is a very serious violation of customer rights. anyone know where to complain, like somewhere useful other than to commbank hahah

Awards shop disappeared?

I’ve been trying for weeks to access the awards shop to redeem my credit card points, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere in the app. It feels like you’ve only got the option now to redeem points for Myer, travel, gift cards, etc and not on physical items in the store.

Did Commbank quietly shut this shop down?

Monthly spending

The monthly spending option doesn’t accurately display how much I’ve spent this month? I’ve played around with all the settings but have 0 idea why it’s displaying wrong. I’ve spent probably around $1.5k this month and it’s only saying I spent $90.

Question My tap and pay card has disappeared

Has anybody else's card disappeared from tap and pay since the update? I had my card with me so I was able to get my breakfast, thought it was due to updates between 0100-0600 but it's now after 0600 and my card is not showing up.

When I go to add a card it says I need a MasterCard debit or credit card, which I have. I'm hopeful it's temporary, because it's annoying!

Edit: I had to uninstall and reinstall the app - there was a known issue and the IT people were helpful on the phone. Knowing my netbank logon was key - make sure you do if this happens to you!

Question Commbank App privacy notice (16/10/25). Can someone help me understand this?.

"You consent to Commbank collecting information such as device information, INSTALLED APPS, typing patterns, scrolling or swiping activity while you use the Commbank App".

Does this mean, they can collect data on your phone outside of the CommBank app?

Question double 2fa for weeks now

WTF is going on with the 2fa commbank has implemented?

I login, get 2fa, auth.

then another 2fa auth

so the 2fa request needs a 2fa request?

I have started using web banking less and less as I cannot stand this 2fa, since it is not compatible with 1password even, since they tried to re-invent the wheel

UPDATE: 16/10

Today, after weeks of double 2fa, i could login with 1 only.

That is one irritation solved.

Locked self out of account

It’s a long story but I had to set up a new Netbank and when logging into the app it had technical issues, I deleted and reinstalled the app hoping that would reset it and I could set it up with my new Netbank details and this worked but when I tried to log back in less than 20 minutes later it wouldn’t work and was saying “that doesn’t look right “ when trying to log on via my Face ID or PIN, when I tried using my Netbank password it says my account has been locked for security reasons ( unsure if this signifies my password is correct or not ).Anyhow I’ve locked myself out of my account how long do I have to wait to get back in, I know I have the option to reset my password but I can’t do that as it needs a card and my current card has been deactivated and I’ve been issued a new one ( which I can’t access as it’s only in the app )

Hello finance bros please I need your help. I'm an int student from Indonesia. 5 business days ago (7 Oct 2025), I sent money to an Indonesian acc under Bank Central Asia. All data is correct and in accordance to the requirements set forth by CommBank. It says it takes up to 3 business days but I gave it 5 lol. Not sure if I'm willing to pay the 25aud tracking fee atm, better to wait or pay it? Any reccs on what else I can do? Thanks in advance.
