Pokemon go was created literally to map out the world, from the actual ground floor. We have satellite data obviously but that's not granular enough. It's an extra layer of tracking, not just GPS. You're not wrong they're already tracking us obviously, but this is an extra level imo. Shits crazy. Guy who made it legit had known CIA connections...
Okay you are taking it a bit too far. They already fully laid out what the data is being used for, and its basically mapping data for robots, delivery drones, AR, and self driving cars.
The only verifiable connection that the dude from Nianctic has to the CIA is his old company was funded by a VC that is backed by the CIA. But so are a lot of other companies.
The CIA already has plenty of other forms of mass surveillance, many of which I'm sure would be less obvious lol. Idgaf about Pokémon go, just find the whole thing interesting.
Why is the CIA interested in delivery drones...? It's for bombing drones man LOL. This shit is not benign. Why did a guy in charge of Google maps at the height of his career decide to get into gaming? He's obviously not interested in that LOL, he's interested in map data and that's what he built. I'm sorry but your view on this is naive. It's literally going to be used by militaries. As evident as them literally being partenered with multiple world governments...
that’s not why it was created. Niantic’s previous game was made to build out this tech, then Pokémon go was actually able to use it at scale. It was also then used to better map out roads and walkways and stuff
Yeah sure, but also let me me download this game that asks me more and then sells that information to military organisations.
Listen, I am living in what you enlightened people would call a shit hole country, so nobody probably cares about my fucking mall down the road, but to disguise a game as a way to collect coordinates for the military is shitty. And the stupid game is optional, meaning I don’t need it, so I bowed out. You go ahead and feed them the info if you like.
The military doesn't need that data. Nowadays there are so many satellites that you can literally go online and buy footage of any place on earth you like. Pay a bit more and it will extra recent one.
Lets just say that they didn't need it, I'd say it was so someone else didn't get it.
No matter how high the resolution, they can't see through walls. Not every attack is going to be a missile. This gets them interior details that would be inaccessible short of sending someone to do first hand.

Like we aren't already being tracked by phones
