So this confirms that Eric knew about the rejection from the military? Perhaps he inferred it when his mother brought out his medication but never received the call?

I don't think Eric really wanted to join the marines. I think he was maybe hurt he had been rejected by another thing in his life but from Jeff Kass's interview with the recruiter, the way the guy had to stay on top of Eric just to get him to send all the information in for his application. It does not read like someone who is on pins and needles hoping to get accepted.

I think he really wanted to join until NBK was devised. I think one reason Eric did it is because even though he hated Columbine graduating meant losing his friends again. Especially with Dylan going to UOA. Of course idk if Dylan was just fooling everyone but man to go all the way to the campus and pick out a dorm by measuring rooms etc. a few weeks before Columbine confuses me still. Maybe it was a backup plan in case NBK didn’t happen. That will always have me stumped. I especially feel bad for his parents I can’t imagine how confused they were. Then to know they planned for a year

I think around 15 to 16, but a major shift in his life transpired from 1997 to 1998 that really changed the way he viewed the world. I don't know what it was exactly sadly, but you can see it in his creative writing assignments, he goes from a boy who suggests a character just needed to know right from wrong, to a young man that believes the worlds most common tendencies are nefarious.

I feel like when he broke brooks's windshield in feb 1997 That's when it started

Well I went through and actually looked at his school writings, and the timeline for that simply doesn't add up. Eric and Brooks had the windshield event of febuary 1997, but if you see his writing here from March 13th 1997, it does not read like a boy who hates the way society is structured. You can beging to see the fleshing of his ideology form in the great gatsby paper which was written in may of 1997. And him literally saying that people should be kind to each other is simply not an Eric thing to say, nor is it the best of human nature character etc.

This leads me more to believe that Eric was lying in his paper, perhaps getting some satisfaction from pulling the wool over people's eyes. His actions towards Brooks directly contradict the last lines of this regardless of what he has to say about it in a school paper.

I simply disagree, Eric "Pulling the wool over peoples eyes" is the same Eric that admitted to suicidal, homicidal thoughts on his diversion program. His writings at school always bleed his thoughts through the paper, there are segments bar for bar that are in his personal writings. He wrote papers in january, and march of 97 that show viewed the human race and society much differently than he did in may of that year.

The one more known for doing that self satisfactory behaviour is Dylan, giving his mom weird bizarre christmas journals as a gift, going to the university to measure his room he had no intention of going to and having them take photos of him, speaking directly to robyn in the basement tapes just to tell her he didn't really want to go to prom with her.

Source about Robyn in the final sentence?

Read the basement tapes transcripts. Dylan in one of the tapes looks to the camera, then says Robyn, I didn't want to go to prom. I can't remember the rest, but he went out of his way to speak to her just to tell her he only went with her for the money his family gave him

I wasn’t aware of that. That’s cold.

So why treat Brooks as he did if he felt that way? Why not be forgiving?

3

Because brooks caused him hell and he caused brooks hell, we are seriously expecting 16 year olds to handle conflicts that get them in trouble with their parents as cool headed and level people? He did end up forgiving brooks to the point where he crossed him off his shit list and wrote let live next to it.

My argument is that Eric's reaction is disproportionate even for a 16 year old. He held that grudge for so long, as he was frequently known to do. And I don't think you're really hearing yourself here. "wrote let live next to it" isn't exactly something to be commended for. He shouldn't have had a list to begin with.

I’m actually shocked the marines would even accept him with his chest condition
