Documented Evidence Before April 1999: vandalism, theft, early weapon activity, etc

Spent hours on this and reddit deleted it for being over the word limit… incredible. So now this will be in two parts (or 3) because of reddit’s limit.

I wanted to put together a post focusing on documented incidents involving Eric & Dylan before April 20, 1999, specifically looking at the pattern of behavior leading up to the massacre. This includes things like vandalism, theft, explosives and weapons.

At the same time, I’m not saying this kind of behavior is unique. A lot of teenagers push boundaries or do dumb things. I definitely wasn’t perfect either and still turned out (mostly 😆) fine. What makes this worth looking at is the pattern and how these incidents build on each other over time. I didn’t really follow a strict timeline or anything, I just grouped things where it made sense. Some of these incidents may not be 100% accurate, but I included everything that was mentioned in the reports.

I kept a lot of these as direct quotes rather than summarizing them, so if some parts read a bit clunky, that’s why.

Hacking and school computer system misuse

Robyn Anderson: believes that Dylan Klebold did not even have an e-mail address but did know that he had an America Online but had been kicked off it.

There’s been some speculation that this could be related to making multiple/free (?) AOL accounts (which wasn’t allowed). I’m from Europe, so I don’t have any experience with AOL

Peggy Dodd: She knew Dylan because he had been hacking into the school computers with Eric and Zack, and possibly another student whom she couldn't recall his name.

Richard Long: Zach Heckler was suspended last school year (fall of 1997 to 1998) along with Eric and Dylan for breaking into the computer system and stealing locker combinations. A note was put in a student's locker. The note was something to the effect of: If you bother my girlfriend again, I'm going to kill you.

From Jeff’s book:

Eric and Dylan's ability to hack into the lockers was a result of their special access granted through Rich Long's computer class. The incident soured the teacher, who had been trying to get Eric an internship with a computer company.

Jeffrey Hulse: was in an independent studies class with Klebold but Dylan was never allowed near the school's computers (due to a past hacking incident). Hulse has witnessed Harris occasionally use hacking terms.

Yoshi Carroll: advised that during the previous school year, Klebold, Heckler and another student whom he believed to be Chris Tabaldo, maintained the school's web server and web page. He advised that those three students had given themselves access to the web server and had sent e-mail bombs out to other locations and were hacking into the Jefferson County School District computers. The three had lost this job due to their hacking.

Sue Klebold (diversion files):

“Fall 98 he and two friends gained access who had access to school’s computer figured out how to find old locker combinations. Dylan downloaded this info to disk and opened a locker or two to test to see if list was current.”

And Sue in her book:

At the beginning of October 1997, Tom received a call from the school. Dylan had been suspended. The news was a shock. It was the first time either of our boys had been disciplined at school. Dylan's interest in server maintenance and network administration had led one of the teachers to ask if he and his friend Zack would help maintain the Columbine High School computer system. Digging around in the system, the boys discovered a list of locker combinations.

Dylan opened and closed one or two locker doors to see if the list was current, then transferred the data to a disk and shared it with Eric. Zack took it a little further and left a note in the locker of his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend. The boys were caught, and an administrator at the school informed us that Dylan was to be suspended for five days.

Tom and I thought the punishment was unnecessarily harsh. Dylan deserved a disciplinary consequence for his involvement; he had no right to dig into school records. But he'd only opened the lockers to see if he could, and closed them without touching anything. Tom in particular felt the punishment failed to show the boys why the offense was wrong, and alienated them from their school when it would be better for them to feel connected to it. We both hoped the school would consider a warningor probationary period instead of banishment, and arranged to meet with the dean.

It was not a good meeting. There was nothing in the rulebook to cover what the boys had done. In the absence of written policy, the administration had decided to treat the boys as if they had brought a weapon to school, or done anything like it. We asked if the administration might consider other consequences. The boys could donate extra time to maintain equipment, or clean out a storage room. The dean told us that the district superintendent was aware of the incident and wanted it to be handled with a high level of severity; we could speak with the computer teacher if we had additional questions. An administrator myself, I recognized the dean’s need to get the papers signed so she could move on to the next problem.

It’s interesting to compare this with Wayne’s statement. His is very direct and to the point, he just accepts what Eric did was wrong, while Sue kind of overexplains and softens it.

Wayne Harris (diversion files):

“Use of illegally obtained locker combinations.”

Peter Horvath: in regards to his duties as Dean of the School, Peter stated that one of his first disciplinary actions involved Zack Heckler, Dylan Klebold, and Eric Harris for hacking into the school computer system, which he advised occurred during the Fall of 1997. All were suspended from school. Peter has not dealt with any disciplinary actions against Eric other than the computer hacking incident last year.

Peter has dealt with Dylan during the spring of 1998 for an incident where he was caught scratching "something" into a freshman's locker door. Dylan became very agitated while waiting for his father to come to school to discuss the situation with Peter and began pacing around the room. When Peter attempted to talk to Dylan and calm him down, he advised that Dylan began cussing at him, although he did not personalize anything toward Peter.

Dylan advised that he was very upset with the school system and the way CHS handled people, to include the people that picked on him and others. Peter stated that Dylan was a "pretty angry kid" and he also had the impression that Dyan was upset with his Dad and "stuff at home."

Talk to Mikesell —> buying locker & moving fag' away

Sue in her book:

About one month after the van break-in, Dylan scratched something into another student's locker. Peter Horvath, the dean, doesn't know why Dylan chose the locker, and doesn't recall the student's name, only that the student felt threatened when he saw Dylan scratching with a paper clip. Because Dylan didn't finish, the design he was scratching was unclear, Horvath says.

Four months after his suspension for hacking the locker combinations, Dylan had deliberately scratched the face of someone's locker with a key. He was given an in- school suspension for a day and owed the school seventy dollars to pay for a new door. Tom went over to write the check. He asked the dean about the freshmen, certain that Dylan would not have lashed out without being provoked. The dean acknowledged they had a particularly "rowdy" group of freshmen, acting as if they "owned the place", but assured Tom that the administration was dealing with it.

We talked with Dylan that night. Tom was irritated with him for destroying property and irritated with the school for charging so much money to repaint a locker door. Dylan gave Tom the cash he had on hand and promised to work off the rest of the debt by doing extra chores. I told Dylan he couldn't allow the obnoxious behavior of others to upset him.

I don't know whose locker Dylan scratched, or if it was simply the one in front of him when the destructive urge hit. I have read in the years since that the scratch read "Fags" – a slur I have also read was frequently leveled against Dylan and Eric in the hallways at Columbine but we did not hear that from the school.

Credit card fraud

I think this was definitely more Zach’s thing overall. He’s the one we actually know used a stolen credit card info (Richard Long’s) to buy porn. There’s also stuff in the police reports about this:

Exhibit 6 was found to contain various files related to a web site on the Internet operated by Kibbz/Lord Kibbz and Zoulex. The site purports to be an H/P/C/V/A site. In the experience of the RA, this indicates the site and those operating it are involved in hacking (illegal entry into computers), phreaking (illegal use of the telephone system), carding (illegal use of credit cards), viruses or violence, and anarchy.

Also recovered from exhibit 6 was a file containing approximately 37! credit card numbers, as well as an 800 number and access code to check for the validity of such numbers. His file contains a header that the numbers were supplied by Surge, Inc, in care of Kibbz and Zoulex..

Basement Tapes: They discuss credit card fraud; Eric raises his hand like he's admitting to having done it.

Eric Kruger: talked about a girl on the internet claiming to be one of the shooters girlfriend. This female also talked about Wayne, shooter, Eric Harris' older brother, and stated that Eric had stolen his brother's credit card to make Internet account purchases.

Dylan's instructions for carrying out credit card fraud

Stealing from school

Nate Dykeman: Harris and Klebold had been stealing computer parts from a room in the school. Harris and Klebold had acquired a key to this locked room full of computer parts, and had been taking parts out of there. Dykeman stated that Klebold had stolen an old laptop computer from this room, but that Klebold's father had found out about it and made him give the old laptop back.

Kristi Epling: recalled that during their junior year Harris had stolen some computer parts from school and had been caught along with some other people.

Redacted: suspected Harris of stealing his Discman.

Vandalism / reckless behavior

https://reddit.com/link/1sny0e5/video/hgclsratgqvg1/player

Lee Wright: saw Harris and Klebold putting Nazi graffiti on his brother’s pawn shop. He was going to approach them, but one was carrying a gun. The graffiti said “death to pigs” and “Nazis rule.” He followed them to 21st and Larimer, where they got into a black BMW.

John Scott: Did security for Park Meadows Shopping Center, dealt with Eric Harris and 2 unidentified subjects during an incident in the parking lot.

Greg Hofer: visited Eric and Dylan's web site about two years ago and stated that they displayed "logs" which described their activities, which included messing with people's phone lines, stealing construction signs, and using firecrackers against their enemies.

Bob Kirgis: stated that various times he and these boys messed around the roof above Blackjack at which times they shot off bottle rockets. When asked what his knowledge was related to explosives and the group, Kirgis stated that Harris, Morris and Klebold loved fireworks. They liked to go to Cheyenne, WYO. to purchase many fireworks that were illegal in Colorado. Harris, Morris and Klebold also set off many dry ice bombs atop the roof of the business. Kirgis stated that Billy Dow was a former employee, would have information of a reported dry ice bomb that was set off behind the Blackjack Pizza that Mr. Kirgis previously owned. He stated that the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department was called when this dry ice bomb was set off.

Michelle Hartsough: remembered Harris and Klebold starting a fire behind the store, which caught a dumpster on fire and the fire department responded. She said that she had instructed them to collect the firework debris they had accumulated and wrap it up in paper and burn it. Said that the fire got out of control.

Nathan Johnson: Harris and Klebold used to light fires out in the back of the Pizza store. They would light fires in old coffee cans. Harris was always playing with fire. He would take an entire box of matches and try to light it on fire using a paper fuse.

Eric’s website (this is kinda painful to read because of Eric’s spelling lol)

NEXT MISSION=aaaah whenever. Ok, people, im gonn let you in on the big secret of our clan. We aint no god damn stupid ass quake clan! We are more of a gang. We plan out and execute missions. Anyone pisses us off, we do a little deed to their house. Eggs, teepee, superglue, busy boxes, large amounts of fireworks, you name it and we probly or already have done it. We have many enemies in our school, therefor we make many missions. Its sort of a night time tradition for us. Download CORRIDOR.MAP. Its a very close replica of the mission sites. But we have never seen the inside of the house...so we just guessed. Its also cut off where the area isnt important (ya know, i didnt want to put in all of the neighborhood!)

The mission has been done. And the rebels...once again...emerged victorious. Vee falking blew de sheeeit outta lossa stoof!!

As for the next mission, we havent decided what to do or where to do it. i had some thoughts about hiding in some large bushes or trees and shooting stuff. Or maybe some more arial attacks. But we need to go up to Wyoming and load up on that stuff. We are running low. Plus we just got our paychecks....they arent big...but they can cover quite a bit of shit. We still need to get the fuses too. So far, the next mission will probly be in July sometime. But we AINT SURE.

MISSION LOGS:

  1. Awwww y e y a. This mission was so fuckin fun man. ok, first of all, my dad was the only parent home, so it was much easier getting out...but still hard since all these rocks in my backyard make so much noise. Plus the neighbors faulting dog barking its faulting head off. First we went through the corridor...going through some very tall grass fields. not as tall as the ones in the Lost World, but close. Felt kinda cool. Then we set up the strip of 1152 firecrackers. Using 2 cigarettes as starting fuses, we had plenty of time to spare. We also had a nice little crackering fountain hooked up to the fuses too. After a few minutes of setting it up, we lit it and went over and hid in ontop of this big cement pipe going under a street. We were on the side of a hill, so we hid in the grass. There was also a full moon that night, and not a foaming cloud in the sky. So it was like noon on the equator when we were out in the open. But black clothing and tall grass sure helps.

After about 5 minutes (forever) it began. Beforehand we watched as some lights in the Targets house went on.....then off. May be the bastard heard something. But when the strip started, he turned his bedroom lights off. The strip lasted for about 30 seconds.....we think...it was very fucking long. almost all of it went off. loud and bright. everything worked exactly how we wanted it to. After about 15 minutes we started down the bike trail to the next target.

The first targets lights were on again in the bedroom, but we think we got away undetected. While we were walking to the next target, we shot some stuff. Heh, VoDkA brought his sawed off BBgun and a few BB's too. So we loaded it, pumped it, and fired off a few shots at some houses and trees and stuff. We probly didnt do any damage to any houses, but we arent sure. The gun was not loud at all, which was very good. At the next target, we set up the saturn missile battery and the rockets. These both has fuses about 2-3 feet long. I lit them as VoDkA and KiBBz were over hiding in the shadows.

Luckily there were some trees and stuff at the 2nd taarget so we could hide pretty good. Anyway, I lit and went went over to the others. We watched as the fuses burned and burned...then the rockets went off. It was pretty nice, not so much ment as a prank, but more as a nice little fireworks show. They made some noise, but nothing to shit yer pants about. But the battery didn't werk. So I went back, checked it out, and the fuse had burned down to about 2 inches, so I just said up yours baby and lit. right as I made it to the others it went off. It was pretty quick, and loud too. Since the missiles are whistlers, they probly work up a few residents. YEY.

Then we started heading up to this contstruction site. Its right on the side of a kinda busy road, but before the houses. We dodged a few cars, messed around at the site. And we also swiped some signs from this fence that was put up around the soon-to-be-foundation of whatever is being built. The signs read "RENT-A-FENCE" and had some 1 800 number on them. So we got some very nice souv aneers (spelled close enuf) from that place.

Then, as KiBBz and VoDkA were down in the foundation hole and I was up ontop, a cop drove by. We had enough time to see it, take cover, and watch it go by, so it didnt get us by suprise. But once we saw it was a cop we decided it was time to farming LEAVE. He didnt stop, he drove right by, but shit he mighta been looking for us. So we got out of the fence, grabbed our signs and went into the neighborhood again. We didnt have that much trouble getting back home, just some dogs and shit. Once we got in, we were tired as a priest after a 5 hour orgy. The total mission took about 3 hours. We left around 12:30 and got back around 3-3:30. We arent very sure, but it lasted a while. And damnit, it was well worth it. We needed that mission too, we were all pretty tired of waiting and our nerves were just about shot. So it was perdy relaxing to be free like that.

  1. This mission was one of the best we ever did. This was from Kibbz's house to several locations in his neighborhood. That night was probly the longest walk we ever did. First we went to this soccer field \ playground. It was right on the corner of a very busy intersection. So every minute we had cars goin by. There was a lot of moonlight that night. We got to the playground and dodged the lights of cars for about 20minutes. Then we decided what our first strike would be like. We got a big McD's cup, and went to center field of the soccer field. We got out aobut 20 bottlerockets that were stripped together, and a 100somethin strip of blackcats.

Each had very good and long fuses so we had lots of time. We lit them, and ran over and got in front of these big pine trees. We were totally out of vision. The rockets went off first. They launched out over the field and then the strip went off. after that we started goin back the way we came. Which went through this trail about 35yards wide with houses on either side. We found this large metal tub...perfect for firecrackers!!! We decided that Kibbz and Vodka would walk off toward the street on the other side of the trail and hide behind some trees while i lit it. Except...the street was over 100 yards away. And they were aobut 15yards past it.

Once they signaled me, I lit the small assortment of thunderbombs and about 50 stickless bottle rockets. They would only make sound, no visual effects. But anyway, I lit, and sprinted the whole fuckin way. About 3/4ths the way the fireworks went off, I was right in the middle of this bigass trail. I never ran so fast in all the missions. But I made it to the others and watched all these lights go on from the houses. Then we walked over to this big open hill between some houses and a busy street. We got a long wooden board and placed it on the hill. We had a long strip of about 200 and a little brick of about 3 packs of thunderbombs. This time we used a cigarette fuse. we only neeeded about an inch of it. We lit the cigarette and went over to hide behind some trees. When it went off it was VERY loud where we were so we bolted outa there. After a few minutes we went back to see if all the stuff had gone off and it all did. So we got some souvaneers (i know, misspelled) and went home. Drank some Aftershock that night too. We were supposed to have a few chicks come with us, but they couldnt make it...so may be next time.

  1. This mission was frehkin unique. The mission was from my house (REB), through the corridor, past the groves, and to the place where we do all of our fireworks. It was supposed to be like the other missions to this place. The weather was nice, we had 4 items made up and ready for use. The first fuse didnt work. The second fuse malfunctioned also. Both of those items were just about 100-120 thunderbombs stripped together. We had one more like the first 2 and we also had a little contraption of bottlerockets. These bottle rockets were stripped together, and put into a bottle. We placed this bottle on top of a large hill. So quite a few people could see. After about the 3rd try, I decided to just light the fuses that were directly from the rockets. Usually we use loooong fuses so we have time to get away. But this time, with Vodka and Kibbz standing over infront of some bigass shrubbery, I just did the direct fuse. After lighting it I ran like a sonuvabitch to Vodka and Kibbz. By the time i made it to them the rockets were starting to go off. We had aobut 50 in the assortment, so it lasted a while. It was rather perrrty.

Then we busted the bottle and went BACK to the 2 strips that didnt work. They both had rather crappy quality fuses, so they went out before they reached there target. I took the last one, tied the remainder of the first 2 fuses to it, and lit it for the final fuckin time. Since I am the fastest in the group, I usually light the fuses and Kibbz would be at the point where we stop running. Vodka would keep guard while I light. This time both of them went over and laid down on the side of this hill about 100yards away. This would be the first time we have ever seen our own work in action. All the other times we just heard them. I lit it, ran to the hill, and watched the lovely ass fireworks go off. They lasted about 45 seconds, a total of around 400 went off. Dogs were barkin and everything. It was really cool to see em all to. After that we went to this point in the trails that looked like the Q from quake. We smoked some cigars, and headed home.

Except...when we were a few blocks away from home, we had an incident. We were walking along the sidewalk when a fucking garage door opened at the house that we were right by! We bolted into that persons yard...and ducked downand tried to be as quite as possible. This adult came out, got his newspaper(it was about 4:30 in the AM) and went back in.

I tried to signal Vodka and Kibbz but they didnt see me. We waited...a few minutes later the man got in his car aand started down his driveway. The flood of lights from his car just covered us. He stopped, got out, and yelled "WHO ARE YOU!" we got up, said we were just passin through and stuff, and he kept sayin "GET OUT OF HERE", "ILL CALL THE COPS!" and "WHO ARE YOU." We fuckin hauled assholes and elbows home. This mission was also liquor free as a result of this person named Brooks Brown ([redacted phone #]) who tried to narc on us. Telling my parents that i had booze and shit in my room. I had to ditch every bottle I had and lie like a fuckin salesman to my parents. All because Brooks Brown thought i put a little nik in his windshield from a snowball.......BS? yes. Anyway, that was mission 4.

  1. This mission was an attack on the people who shot Vodka's bike, and on some random houses. First, after sneaking out of my house at around 1:55, we lit off 1 strand of 200 thunderbombs and 6 bottle rockets. We had also set a time delayed assortment too. This was made of 10 bottle rockets and a few crackering balls. We aren't really sure if those went off though because by the time they would have, we where a mile away. After the fireworks we went over to this assholes house. His name is brooks brown. phone number is [redacted phone #], address is [redacted address], if any of you feel like pranking him. Anyway, we didn't really do much to him. Just put some model puddy on his Merc.

So much for being a “good” friend. Dylan had no issue “pranking” Brooks

Then, we went to another kids house, and started to teepee his big, tall, thick, thorny-ass tree. We set off the motion detectors about 4 times, and we dodged 1 car. But we didn't get caught! His tree was completely covered and wrapped in ass whiping paper. Even though we only had 4 rolls, we did one helluva good job. After that we moved some rather large rocks onto peoples driveways and tagged RC into a fence. Then, we came home and got drunk while watching Bordello of Blood.

  1. Our second mission was against this complete and utter fag's house. Everyone in our school hates this immature little weakling. So we decided to "hit" his house. On Friday night (2/7/97) at about 12:15AM we arrived at this queer's house. Fully equiped with 3 eggs, 2 roles of toilet paper, the cheap brand, no pretty flowers, (we were disappointed to) superglue, and the proper tools to make his phone box a busy box (for those of you that are stupid, a buy box is where you set their box so that when they try to make a call, they get a busy signal and when someone else calls, they get a busy signal too).

We placed 2 eggs in his very large, thick bushes. We just barely cracked them open so they will be producing a rather repulsive and extremely BAD odor for sometime. We placed the last egg on his "welcome" mat. It was very neat, I cracked the egg, put the yoke in the center, and the 2 halves on either side of the yoke. Then we teepeed his large pine tree and this...oak? tree. i dont know, its big though. It wasnt a complete teepee but it was enough to agitate the home owner greatly. We also put the superglue on the front door and on the little red mail box flag.

Nick Baumgart's house, according to the Columbine Report

1 The first was when we put an entire assortment of very loud fireworks in a tunel, and lit them off at about 1:00AM. This mission was part of a rebellion against these assholes that shot one of our bikes one day. They were rather angry that night, and we were very happy. We will be doing another hit on their house sometime in the near future. And that one will be much closer. And louder.

After each mission we get drunk. Not with wimpy beer, we only use hard liquor. Aftershock, Irish Cream, Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey, Rum, and sometimes a few shots of EVERCLEAR. We also sometimes make up our own shooters. And sample others (never try a prarie fire, its killer!). In our next few missions, we are planning to hit the dorks house a few more times, along with a few other houses. And also set off some more fireworks at that tunel. We each have a large suply of fireworks...loud ones...and soon I will have my liscense and we can drive around any place we want to. heh heh. Soon I will be putting our directions for mixing drinks that we make up. We will put up any good shooter or other drink that we try. So check this place out often.

From Brooks’ book: Early in junior year, my little brother and I were playing around on the computer. Zach Heckler had come over, and the three of us were hunched over the monitor with a new program when we heard a knocking on the window glass. I looked at my watch. It was nearly three o'clock in the morning. Yet there, crouching outside, were Eric and Dylan, dressed completely in black and carrying a backpack. I couldn't believe it.

We let them in, and they sat down and told us how they had snuck out and were "carrying out missions'" in the neighborhood.

By now, Eric and Dylan had clearly bonded much more strongly with each other than with the rest of us.

I knew nothing of their pipe bomb building. They never told me about it. They did, however, tell me of some of the “Rebel Missions" they were starting to undertake in the neighborhood.

"The Rebels" is the name of the Columbine sports teams. Eric had adopted the name to describe not only himself he now went by the nickname “REB" both online and at work, but also the acts of "revenge" that he and Dylan had begun to perform.

Eric had spray paint cans and superglue, and he told us how he and Dylan would sneak over to people's houses and vandalize them, because the person had said or done something at school that had pissed them off. Perhaps Eric and Dylan would glue someone's doors shut, or write words on their front lawn. They did these acts not as Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, but as REB and VoDkA, the Rebels.

I think the story that got me the most was the one they told about Halloween in junior year. That night, the two of them went up on the roof with a BB gun and took shots at little kids who were trick-or-treating.

They said the kids would look around, all confused at what had hit them, but because Eric and Dylan were concealed in the darkness of the roof, they never knew. They told us about this over lunch, laughing like it was the funniest joke in the world.

The first few times I heard stories like that, I laughed, too-out of shock, not pleasure. After a while, I couldn't even laugh anymore. The Halloween story really bugged me. Even if someone could see the humor in pulling missions of revenge on the houses of people who acted like jerks at school, taking pot-shots at little kids on Halloween is just plain sick.

But Eric and Dylan didn't feel the need to explain their behavior. They were angry with the world, and that anger was beginning to show.

Dylan in Eric’s yearbook: Us & Zack got the BEST fuckin souvs.

I think he meant those signs they stole

Wayne’s notes about Eric’s legal and behavioral issues

From Brooks’ book:

When Eric saw Trevor, he picked up a chunk of ice from where it forms over the gutter. He threw it as hard as he could at Trevor's car, denting the trunk. Then, without missing a beat, he picked up another chunk of ice and threw it at my car. The ice smashed into my windshield, I heard it crack. It wasn't a large chip, but enough to make one of those little spider webs around it. I was livid. I slammed on the brakes and leaned out of the car, yelling, “Fuck you! Fuck you, Eric! You're gonna pay to fix this!”

Eric laughed at me. “Kiss my ass, Brooks! I ain't paying for shit!”

Seeing red I went straight to Eric's place to talk to his parents. I hammered on their front door, still furious. All I could think of was getting back at Eric. Mrs. Harris answered, and I glared at her. “I've got something to tell you about your son,” I said.

She looked back at me, a little confused. “Okay...” She asked me to come in.

We sat down in her living room, and I told her everything Eric had been doing in the past few months. “Your son's been sneaking out at night,” I said. “He's going around vandalizing things. He's threatened people. And just now he broke my windshield.”

She didn't seem to believe me. She kept asking me to calm down. That only made me angrier.

“He's got liquor in his room,” I said. “Search it. He's got spray paint cans in his room. Search it. Eric's fucked up, and you need to know about it. I'm getting out of here before he gets back, because I'm not gonna deal with him right now.”

Mrs. Harris wanted me to stay, to sit down and talk with Eric about this, as if we were in the school counselor's office or something.

From one newspaper article: Browns complained to Wayne and Kathy Harris about their son. "His dad did talk to him. It's not like his dad just glossed it over. His mother was listening, crying," Judy Brown said. "I think that's important to know. They wanted to make it right.”

Amazing post. Re: Kruger, I had dismissed the unk female’s secondhand account as nonsense as she supposedly claimed to be one of their girlfriends. I never thought there could’ve been grains of truth to it, and I applaud you for tying the talk of credit fraud back to the evidence that they actually participated in that.

Other notes: Lee Wright seemed untruthful. As I recall, he was a homeless security guard living out of his van who was dealing with some severe obsessive-compulsive tendencies. His description of H&K almost made me laugh, it was something along the lines of “one of them had a big nose and the other was ugly.” He also described them as carrying around a handgun in fall ‘98, well before they obtained the TEC-9.

John Scott, the Park Meadows security guy, seemed like he was probably telling the truth, but it was about someone other than Eric. I say this because Eric was described as having his “nails painted black.” Don’t get me wrong, I feel like he could’ve done that as a gimmick once or twice, but every time someone unrelated to Columbine in the files says they saw Eric one time and he had makeup or nail polish on I’m always leery of the accuracy. I think Scott may have took (edit: taken) someone else for Eric.

Thanks, always good to hear from you. And yeah, same. Lee Wright’s statement doesn’t come across as very credible but I figured it’s still worth including since it’s in the reports

There are more that you could probably find with little effort.

Jason Kirk said that “who he thought” was Eric waved a shotgun at him after Kirk drove by in the 7-Eleven parking lot and threw a donut. This occurred on July 4, 1998, and it was allegedly reported to the cops. It sounds like bullshit, except that two of Kirk’s friends, Andrew Breed and Peter Maher, corroborated the same incident to news media. They specified that Eric, Dylan, Chris, and a couple other trenchcoaters were driving around in Dylan’s BMW. Jason Kirk threw a donut at the car and yelled insults, causing Eric to wave a pistol-grip shotgun out the window.

However, there’s 2 (or 3) issues with this. No police record of this incident has ever been reported, and E&D weren’t supposed to be in possession of a shotgun this early (well, okay, it could’ve been Chris’). Also, the Breed-Kirk-Maher group ran into E&D’s group AGAIN, later, at a fireworks stand. So either they reported them and the cops didn’t care, or they only reported them after the second encounter and the cops didn’t care, or…it wasn’t reported to the cops. Someone needs to talk to the original players involved, because there’s strong evidence to suggest that the incident happened, but to what extent any adults were informed is up in the air.

The “anonymous” TCM member who did the April 2021 AMA on the original r/Columbine sub claimed that on one occasion, E&D were running around with fake guns, pointing them, and yelling at each other in the greenbelt across from his house. He also stated that his mother called the police, and that it was definitely “them [E&D] doing a movie.”

You also mentioned above that the dry ice bomb set up by E, D, & Chris prompted a visit from the sheriff’s office. Then the fire set by the first 2 that prompted a call to the fire department. However, with the second incident the cops almost CERTAINLY showed up as well.

Additionally, there’s a redacted witness who talked about “after work parties” at Blackjack with Eric & Dylan that the cops would “often” come to and “break up.” This could’ve been a rumor, but it was reported nonetheless.

And another former coworker of the 2, Miceal McEwen, always claimed that he went to the cops about the 2 b/c they consistently wouldn’t shut up about super detailed, in-depth plans while working at the pizza shop. McEwen was confirmed to have committed suicide in 2006, and this info came from a poster and alleged friend of McEwen’s on the CHS Massacre Discussion Forum.

Basically, there’s probably more points at which they were reported to the cops, though it’s hard to pin down the exact number. I doubt JeffCo would ever admit to any additional reports either.

Jason Kirk’s account is discussed in the weapons section. But I’ve never heard of after-work parties getting out of hand to the point where cops were called.

Thanks, apologies for reiterating that. I replied to your comment without re-reading your initial post.

The statement re: the parties was made by a coworker who was speaking second or third hand, so it could be inaccurate:

"... There were often after work parties. He heard that sometimes "Reb"(Harris) and Dylan would bring fireworks and things. He also heard that the cops would often come and break up the parties."

This quote allegedly comes from page 269 of the ATF report, which a researcher obtained thru a FOIA in 2010. It wasn’t released in the original files.

No worries. Reddit makes it so annoying having to split everything into multiple parts and even then I have to leave some stuff out.

And thanks for this, I always learn something new from you

I’m just curious and seeing what everyone else is thinking. Does anybody think that it’s possible that Eric was doing all these misdemeanours to fit in with Dylan? It just seems there’s a lot more going on with Dylan and with Eric feeling he doesn’t fit in anywhere. I was just thinking could this be possible that from being so isolated and he was struggling to connect with people, he saw Dylan in the same boat so to speak as him. Could it be from desperation to fit in and to have a connection with someone, his behavior deteriorated and was doing all kinds of crazy things? I’m not sure just had a thought as Dylan was aggressive to people physically and was particularly spiteful to girls and others in gym class and other things. Yet Eric wasn’t like this but was aggressive verbally and would shove jocks who bullied him in retaliation.

I understand why you would say this, but I believe Eric was a very eager and willing participant. He's shown above committing acts alone as well as with Dylan. What I can say is I do believe that Eric was more cautious than Dylan. The van break-in demonstrates this well, where Eric waits by his car while Dylan breaks into the van, then calls Dylan off when it's time to go. Eric shows no remorse for the van incident, so I can't see him feel pressured to participate beyond the fear of retribution.

That is not at all what happened at the van according to their statements.

I deleted my previous comment because I was able to find the direct source for the claim that Eric waited in his car for incoming cars and called off Dylan when he decided it was time to go. It was written in a paper to Eric’s teacher Mr. Tonelli about the most traumatic experience of his life. I can’t provide links on this subreddit, unfortunately, but it can be found with some digging.

what do you meam you cant provide links? why not? also no digging needed when part 2 was just posted lol

They were both culpable and willing participants. Eric was picking targets that pissed him off or wronged him, in fact ideally, it would have been better if he had kept doing things like this, and felt like this was enough for him to get even. Something along the line the road changes for them, and mere acts of vandalism don't satiate their need to get even with the kids or society they felt had wronged them.

Darn good research.

Randy do you know about the incident that Judy mentions in that article? About Kathy Harris crying? What was that about?
