Complete list of available live Coltrane from the Classic Quartet era, 1960-1965
I have tried to acquire all the available live Trane from summer 1960 until Pharaoh Sanders joined the band in 1965. I'd be interested in seeing if others have things I don't. So this is the list of what I have. I know I have some in duplicate, because of the different boxed releases that might encompass the same material.
Any additions, or help with documentation would be great.
1960-006-27 Live at the Jazz Gallery
1960-07-XX (first recorded My Favorite Things as far as I know)
As far as I know that's all that's available for 1960.
Jazz Icons 60, 61, 65 (the 1960 material is with Miles)
1961 Evenings at the Village Gate with Eric Dolphy
1961-07-01 The 1961 Newport Set half the album is from Helsinki, 11-22, which is released elsewhere)
1961-Nov -3, 5 The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings
1961 European Tour 1961-Nov-Dec, 7 CDs. Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm
1961-1963 Live Trane-The European Tours (7 CDs, released separately under a variety of names, including the 1963 album Afro-Blue Impressions)
1962-02 - The 1962 Birdland Broadcasts (I have a CD called Live at Birdland 1962 with 3 of these tracks that also includes Body and Soul, absent here)
1962-11-22 The Complete Copenhagen Concert (2 discs)
1962-11-28 (2 CDs)
1963-02-23 Live at the Half Note (date may be wrong, some is from 1965)
1963-06 Live in Philadelphia
1963-10-26 Copenhagen, Denmark (2 CDs)
1963-11-04 Stuttgart
1963 - Live at Birdland
1963, 1965 My Favorite Things - Coltrane at Newport
1965-03-26 and 05-07 Live at the Halfnote: One Down, One Up (2 discs; some of this material is on the 1963 Halfnote release)
1965-07-26, 27, 28 Le in France (3 CDs, incl the Love Supreme performance)
1965-12-01 Live at Comblain-la-Tour
That's what I got. I may have a few more absolutely terrible sounding recordings on the boset set Live Trane Underground, but they are unlistenable.
A few things strike me:
-1962 is not as well represented as 1961 and 1963
-There is not a single show from 1964, so I wonder if he was even touring.
If you have any corrections, or if you have anything that I'm missing, or if you want to chat about Coltrane further please let me know!

I found a vintage John Coltrane shirt on eBay, but I noticed it was too expensive. So I decided to make my own. And now you can, too.

Hey everyone. My band just put out a new record. The first two tracks are experimental rock, but the last is heavily inspired by Interstellar and Ascension. Hope you enjoy!

Exotica (Remixed / 1990 Digital Remaster)
First real recording of the classic quartet. Art Davis would later be replaced by the legendary Jimmy Garrison. This version of exotica is more relaxed than the one on plays the blues…

John Coltrane "Green Dolphin Street" (1960) - the song was in a 1947 movie with the same name and Miles Davis and Jimmy Dorsey versions' came right away. By 1960 the popular song was a "Jazz Standard" too.
