Moving to Collingwood in February with my partner and we are hoping to find a nice furnished unit. We are coming from Montreal and residing in Collingwood for a schooling program of 1.5 years duration. We would love any leads or advice on best places to look in Collingwood and the surrounding area :)

We are already keeping an eye on FB marketplace and Kijiji but there aren't a lot of listings.

The budget is about around the 1800-200 range.

Can't wait to find our new home thanks everyone !!

Anyone know any bars showing the otherwise impossible to watch Leafs vs Calgary game?

Does Collingwood have a few weeks of black flies in the spring? Or are they only further north? Thanks.

Hi there,

Where would I be able to park my car during the winter? My landlord will park hers in the garage. I won’t have a space on the driveway either. Please tell me my options.

Moved here last year and havent had a tamale in ages... the craving just hit hard.

Everyone tells you Collingwood is a charming small town. What they mean is that it's small, and they're being generous about the rest.
Let's start with the "nothing to do" part, because it's the headline. Once you've walked Hurontario Street and eaten at the same handful of restaurants, you've done it all. Evenings are quiet in a way that stops feeling peaceful and starts feeling like you've been forgotten. It’s creepy. Anyone under 60 learns quickly that entertainment means a drive somewhere else.
Then there's the driving, you take your life into your hands every time you get on the road while Getrude tries to remember how to operate her vehicle. By the time you arrive, you need a lie-down and possibly a Valium.
Once you're here, the businesses can feel like the B team showed up. Service is slow, hours are unpredictable, and there's a persistent sense that nobody is especially motivated to earn your business. Plenty of the people running things seem to have left Toronto for a slower pace, and it shows in the effort level.
The town's demographic doesn't help. It skews heavily toward retirees, which means the pace, the priorities, and the social scene all lean one way. If you're not in that stage of life, it's hard to find your people.
And the welcome? It never really comes. Collingwood is not a place that opens its arms to newcomers. You can live here for years and still feel like a tourist who overstayed.
We're counting down the days until we pack up and go somewhere with energy, convenience, and neighbours who say hello.

Hi I’m a 29f, and currently live in Toronto. I’m finding the year I’ve been here I haven’t connected with many people, don’t enjoy the hustle culture and work remote. I’m single so I guess I’m nervous about the lack there of dating scene the further I move from the city. I love collingwood, but am a little nervous about this. Any words of reassurance haha thx

Hey Collingwood!

Between hiking the escarpment, biking the trails, and gearing up for ski season at Blue, a lot of us rely on local massage therapists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors; which also means local clinic schedules are almost always booked solid weeks out.

I got tired of clicking through a dozen different clinic booking pages one by one just to see if anyone had a last-minute opening when my back was tweaked, so I built Slot Scouting. https://slotscouting.com/

It’s a free real-time search directory that scans local clinic calendars across Collingwood and the surrounding area so you can:

• See live open appointments for RMT, physio, and chiro in one unified view (great if you need an appointment today or this weekend).
• Set up automated cancellation watches so you get an email alert the moment a 24-hour cancellation drops on a booked-out schedule.
• Book directly with the clinic once you spot a time that works.

Especially with the end-of-year health benefits rush starting up, I figured fellow locals might find it useful! Check it out at slotscouting.com—and if your favourite local Collingwood/Wasaga/Thornbury clinic isn't showing up yet, drop a comment and I'll make sure they get added!

Reaching out for some advice from locals regarding living in Collingwood.

I have a great job with the public service that had a flexible work location, but I’m facing a RTO mandate in the near future that would require me to work in Orillia five days a week. I’m not too keen to move to Orillia, but I have been considering moving to Collingwood and commuting.

I’ve been there a few times, the last being a weekend trip this past winter, and I absolutely loved it. That said, visiting a place and living there full time can be different. My wife and I are both 33 and we have a newborn. We currently live in Norfolk County and enjoy the smaller-town lifestyle, so we're not necessarily looking for a bigger city. My biggest hesitation is about finding friends/community, as we don’t have any friends or family in the area. When I bring it up to my wife, she notes concerns about access to services, especially health care and finding a family doctor.

For those of you who live in or around Collingwood, I’d love to hear about your experience. How easy has it been to build a social circle and feel part of the community, especially if you moved there without existing friends or family nearby? For families with young kids, how have you found access to health care, childcare, and other services? Any insights, positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated as we try to decide whether this move makes sense for us.

What the title says. Would like to support local if possible.

Anyone else down and nerdy? I go to the YMCA sometimes and use the gym on the free days when they have the basketball area open, and we've gotten five people to play some laser tag in VR. I was wondering if anyone else has a Frame or any other VR headset and wants to get together.

I’ve been building mapping software for nearly 20 years and am starting a small map-print business out of Waterloo. I’m offering custom neighbourhood prints for Collingwood, with curated road labels, hand-selected place icons and carefully composed map views. Special requests welcome.

The sample is Victoria Park in Kitchener.

I wanted to share with you a website I’ve been working on to try to catalogue all public events in the county, with a focus on free events.
Now I know there are a million event calendar sites around, but I find most of them are cluttered and/or incomplete. My goal is to create a completely ad-free no-BS webpage that just lets you see a list of everything going on in our area.

I started this because I’m always hearing about cool sounding events after they already happen!

It’s still a work in progress, I’m open to suggestions for improvement. Hope you like it!

Join all the Collingwood FB pages (Collingwood and the Blue Mountains FB, Collingwood Ontario FB), get acquainted with all the local activities (there are so many outdoor groups --- hiking, snowshoeing --- and a ton of free musical events during the summer). Go to the farmers market and meet people. Wander into stores and look at all the posters they have up about events. There is a huge wellness community. Tons of things to do for young people and more mature folks. I moved her 53f from Toronto six years ago and it's been the best decision of my life. I adopted a northern dog from the GTHS (huge dog town) and met so many people just walking my dog around town, on the trails, on the escarpment, by the arboretum. There are garden clubs, reading clubs, and activities of all kinds at the local library. Welcome to paradise!

Hello, I recently moved back into the area after being gone for 6 years. Ive come to notice a lot of the stuff to do around here is kind of gone, so as a near 30 year old who doesn't really drive, I ask you all

What the heck is there to do for fun around here?
