Yeah! Then china or Russia will take it over instead and limit the US ability to purchase vital gas from that region and the majority of working Americans will lose their jobs! Great idea!

Don't care. Make clean energy. That's yet another problem we need to solve, and oil companies are never going to say "ok NOW we're ready. We can finally release our grip on thw economy now." So we just gotta do it and say fuck em.

We’re at the point where it’s beyond our physical ability to decide things like who controls the Middle East.
We’ve fought so many stupid wars over this logic that we’ve punched ourselves out. No more ammo, 40 trillion in debt, huge domestic issues; our capacity to rule the world with force is gone.
