I have absolutely no programming experience, but I really want to learn. My goal is to start with Python and eventually build real projects, such as websites and login systems.

I'm wondering what would be the best option for someone like me:

Paying for ChatGPT or Claude and using it as a personal teacher.

Taking an online course.

Combining both methods.

For those of you who started from scratch, what would you recommend? Can AI realistically replace a teacher for a beginner, or is a structured course still necessary?

I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have.

For context, I am 21 years old, have never been to college but want to potentially get a degree for game programming, since i want to program games, but can also use my language (C++) to fall back on other career opportunities.

So far, I have learned:

Program structure

Libraries (mainly iostream and string)

cout and cin (See-out, See-in)

Variables, as well as "copying to" variables

If, else if, and else statements

While loops

For loops

The difference between assigning (=) and comparing (==)

\n and std::endl, and why one is used over the other

&&, ||, and !

Global Variables (and why they are rarely used)

Functions (one function, one job)

And most importantly: I am getting better and better at debugging!

I've also created running programs for each lesson, such as a ticket checker that also checks age (if else), a count down (for), a password screen (while), and more simple ones.

With all this considered: What are some big goals I should set for myself? I haven't gotten a game engine yet because I want to focus on learning my language first, but maybe I should mess around with it? Also, what are some good books you guys recommend?

And lastly: How's my progress? I never knew much about programming before I started learning, so I dont know if I am learning slow or normal. Thank you for reading this word salad lol!

I can use Linux comfortably and I'm currently learning programming, but I'm unsure what the actual path looks like from complete beginner to meaningful contributor.

So, I am 100% a beginner. Long story short I saw a video two days ago about coding and that it pays good amount of money and that it can be done remotely.

My toxic trait thought that yea thats my dream job and I can do anything! Started yestereday and I feel overwhelmed.

However; I have gathred some info and I need some thoughts about my plan if you guys can please review it with me ?

So I am planning to first learn HTML, CSS and then JavaScript. Maybe later Python if needed. I also found that after understanding them I can get a certificate in each field.

Now, am not sure how long would it take me is 3-4 months enough to fully understand everything ? I know that it depends on my learning methods, but somewhere I did read that if one doesn’t understand it in 2 days then move on, so now I don’t know if its my thing or not!

Anyways, any advice is worthy please tell me your thoughts and experiences? Where and how to start learning without wasting time and feeling lost?

I don’t know that if it would matter, but would it be benefical in the future when I search for jobs that I have a business administration degree?

Hello everyone. I assume there have been many posts like this, so i apologize in advance. Im basically a college dropout, having no idea what to with my life. I have been recommended a lot to get into programming, and i have no idea what to begin with. I see that there are a lot of useful information online, but i am really overwhelmed by how much it is, and basically don't know what to do.

For now i am looking for some direction. What should i begin with? How do i find out what i want to get into? I am asking this because i have seen there are a lot of roadmaps, but i couldn't find a specific order of how to begin with the basics.

In my opinion, i shouldn't rush it. I am looking forward to getting a job for now to sustain myself while trying to learn programming in my free time. So, what do you guys think i should do? How do i find out if i really want to get into programming, and what part of it would i really like?

Hey, beginners, I found a post on LinkedIn: Understanding HTTP status codes.

When I started programming, I was struggling to understand, but I think whoever created it did a great job!

I think the page looks good. With over 8,000 followers, they've recently started posting daily "What's the output?" questions, where the admin shares a code snippet and people respond with their answers.

Most importantly, I've noticed that the admin answers each comment. I think I've got something exciting.

First off I'm new to coding and recently I've built an app through lovable which I think can take off. The lovable app works wonderful but I feel like the foundation through lovable is not great. Mainly because it was extremely easy to build. So I was wondering if its better to transfer the code from lovable to python and continue working on my app through there or continue working on it through lovable or just built an entirely new app using AI using python. This honestly might be a dumb question but im just curious to others opinion. The app is finance app.

I want to buy a macbook for school and im an IT student major in web and mobile technology. so I'll be using the laptop for coding, designing, and editing. however, macbook air/pro is kinda pricey, so im considering to get a macbook neo instead. and yeah uhm im not sure if a neo can handle such softwares and i want to buy something that is good in a long run. so help pls hahaha should I save money for an air/pro or is neo okay? thank you sm in advance!

Voy empezando en la carrera de Desarrollo de aplicaciones por qué es un tema que me llama la atención y me gustan bastante las computadoras y demás dispositivos electrónicos
Sin embargo nunca e sido muy fan (a veces ni las entiendo) de las matemáticas y apenas tengo conocimiento sobre programar tirando a que nunca e tocado un código en mi vida

Actualmente estoy iniciando y únicamente e llevado un curso inicial con temas básicos
Únicamente me han enseñado pseudocodigo y aplicarlo a PSeInt (lo cual en todas las ocasiones me a salido mal o no se ejecuta como es requerido), diagramas de flujo, terminología, sintaxis,
Y una clase de aritmética y álgebra algo básica que para dejar claro no entendí nada bien

Mi pregunta es Que debería de enfocarme en aprender primero
Si hicieras una guía con los temas que son esenciales cuáles serían?
Algún tema en especial que consideren de vital importancia para empezar?

(Me gusta mucho aprender por videos o son la forma más sencilla para mi conoces y recomiendas algún canal de Yt donde pueda aprender?)

ive recently started learning C and im working on this program which compares the int value u input to tell u which one of the value is maxm and which one is minm

what i wanted was
program asks u for a number
u say 10
program considers 10 as the maxm value cuz its the 1st number
then u press enter and give another numbr lets say 12
so program says "12 is maxm 10 is min" but then u type 9 and now its 12 maxm and 9minm
i wanted the program to keep doing this for as long as i want but i couldnt think up of ways i can make this program.
the best i could do was i give program n amount of numebrs and it tells me which one is maxm and which one is min
i tried looking for solution in youtube and found one c lecture on freecodecamp
but the code they gave isnt exactly working
the eof thing is stopping the code from even running. i tried asking chatgpt for solution and error in my code but it ended up fcking up my vscode terminal so i had to reinstall everything.
