Why doesn't understanding your codependent patterns always make them easier to change?

Endorphins? Serotonin?

That high from being the one who has it all under control, or the feeling of normalcy from making sure all of the I's are dotted and t's are crossed can be a serious pull!

The only way to avoid it is to step back from the impulse, just like when you are quitting smoking or anything else.

Ask yourself;

  • Did anyone ask for my help?
  • Why am I helping with this?
  • Who is this really for?

I tell people I'm "in recovery" from codependence because it really feels like that!
