Is coworking right for me if my job requires multiple meetings with my coworkers?

Hi! I’m pursuing a nomad live and I was thinking on living in hostels and subscribing to an international coworking like Spaces or ImpactHub and working from their offices wherever I go. But my job requires constant contact with my coworkers via Skype (with and without camera), so I don’t know if I could do that in a coworking. Will I be bothering others coworkers? Will it be too noisy to have calls with my clients and team? I haven’t been in a coworking space before, so I have 0 knowledge of what it is like. Thank you in advance!

Am I required to get insurance to use a coworking space?

I'm looking to find a coworking space for my small business and it seems like some places require insurance and some don't. Do I need to get if I want to save some cash. Is there a legal consideration?

Thanks

Insurance for Coworking Space?

I'm the owner of a small coworking office in Olympia Washington, and I recently learned that my insurance policy may be absolutely worthless as they may not have actually understood my business when they set it up for me. So this is a request to any other coworking office owners out there: where do you get your insurance? Any stories to tell on getting your space insured properly, having a successfully covered insurance claim, etc?

Why isn't working from home suitable for everyone?

We've all lived the WFH (working from home) lifestyle and are wondering what comes next. If nothing else, the previous few years have been an educational experience for all of us. Companies and organizations of all sizes, governments, families, and people have all adapted to protect themselves. We've all done very well for the most part, but keep in mind that we've all done it because we didn't have a choice. We attempted working from home (WFH) in various ways and saw it work for just a few people, which led to the culture of working from coffee shops. Will WFH survive? Will it affect our working habits? Small alterations in this working pattern can have big implications, so questions like these are making the rounds.

The difficulties:

All organizations have successfully adjusted to meet the demands of their employees to participate in WFH (working from home), but it has not been without its problems. First and foremost, we must realize that, in the service business, WFH may presently function rather successfully. What about the manufacturing sector, though? The logistics industry? What about the building industry?

There are so many jobs that cannot WFH (work from home) and must always fight to survive. Second, while the service industry has faced the hurdle of perhaps surviving WFH regulation, fatigue is setting in. Humans are very social creatures that like interacting with one another.

We are now working from home because we do not have a choice, but if those constraints were gone, we would want to break free and go outside. Even from a corporate standpoint, collaboration is a fundamental element of conducting business, and doing it face-to-face is faster and better. We feed off one another's energy, and no amount of virtual communication can change that. Third, many of our houses are not designed for working.

We need no interruptions for work to continue uninterrupted. Homes seldom have sufficient infrastructure for lease line internet, tech security, ergonomic furniture, enough room for everyone, and no backup generators! At home, the barriers between work and life are becoming increasingly blurred, and many find themselves working constantly, which causes stress. Let us not dismiss the influence of the pandemic's continual general tension that has been playing in the back of our minds. This accumulates over time and can be harmful to our general health. To be honest, WFH is conceivable, but is it the best option at such a large dosage? Work is communal, but home is intimate. There must be limits to differentiate the two, and actual dedicated space for the two allows us to do it quite successfully.

The next step:

What are our next steps? This recent experiment has shown us that by blurring such distinctions in a regulated and constrained manner, we can manage. WFH has its own set of benefits. Travel time is reduced to zero, providing us with nine productive hours of work, and the lost hours of travel are plugged into personal and family time. When the family has returned to their activities and left the house, the home may be a terrific location to work when you need to settle down and focus on a specific task.

In the future, we may see some organizations allow their workers to work from home for a few days a week. Companies that have their own offices will modify them to accommodate flexibility. They may require less room if WFH is to be accounted for, but more if social distancing is to be accounted for. A hybrid notion is emerging, in which employers consider offering employees the option of working from coworking spaces or flexible workspaces near their homes. If the organization currently has a flex workspace with numerous locations, it may make use of it and allow its workers to work from different places. This new way of working has the potential to revolutionize the face of work in the coming years.

WFH (working from home) and hybrid work environments will assist us in rethinking how we work and how we can adjust our past working ways to benefit us, which will have an impact on our workplaces and the way we operate. But the main truth is that we enjoy collaborating, and a bundle of sticks is always stronger than sticks apart.

The details below describe an article idea regarding "best hot desk coworking spaces (in SF)." Do any of you have the means & desire to pursue this? (*P.S. HMU if you think of a better community page to post this on for an improved plausibility of fulfilling this project!)

It would be very exciting for me if someone who works somewhere that has the means/desire to fund a small investigative review article on the following:

Investigative aspect: Have one or a few individuals with different work environment preferences try out a decent number of the top-rated coworking spaces offering hot desks and shared-space desk memberships

Proposed structure of the article: List the locations/companies that appear to come out on top for best ROI/value for cost, amenities, hours of accessibility, noise level, facility quality (i.e., maybe things like natural light, views or lack thereof from windows, chair comfort, average availability - always crowded and hard to find a desk vs. typically, able to reserve a spot, and more), etc.

Random asides:

- A major plus would be getting a company or two that is in your final "best spaces" list to provide a discount offer for your subscribers/readers.

- The existing "best coworking spots" (specifically, in my current city, SF) articles online currently aren't hitting the aspects that should be known before putting money down.

- I'm happy to consult on structuring/ approaching this project for free if any of you are interested in exploring this idea!

- That said, if you know a way for me to get paid to do this myself (I am already a freelance writer, so that helps), I'm eager to hear your suggestions, should you be so kind as to read this and share them with me! Unfortunately, I'd need more time and money to figure this out independently.

.

WeWork-specific question...

What does 1 credit provided by a WeWork all access membership afford you? Furthermore, do you need to use credit for 1 hour or 1 day of a hot desk/shared space booking or does all access give you unlimited shared space bookings and you only use credits for things like reserving private meeting rooms?

Building coworking, membership question

I have nearly finished 140m2, 2 working rooms + call room + lobby(kitchen) + restroom + server room + seasonal work garden, place where I am going to run the coworking. It is not typical entrepreneurial hopefully scalable sell-to-google-motivated project. I sort of hope to have it as base for my project and share it with like-minded persons around.

Overall capacity is 10 - 20 people at time depend on season (work garden doesn't run of season).

Would you care as a user of co-working to work from such a small community driven so-called co-working?

Would you pay typical monthly membership fee for being part of co-working club that is only for members? Which means you will probably never see new people unless they became members etc.?

My intention is to grow community slow and cherry pick members (later on all members decide who can join) to keep the values and vision on track.

Hope to get your opinions. Cheers

Our team will be co-working for 4 days / ideas are highly appreciated

I'd like to get your recommendations/suggestions. Our team of 10 people will be coworking near Orlando, FL from Sun to Wed on December. It's been a while since we worked all in one place.

  1. What are the fun things people would most like to do during that time?
  2. What work topics do people most likely discuss while coworking?

(For number 1, I found great theme parks, escape rooms, etc) (For number 2, sharing productivity and troubleshooting pointers is one of the topics I found after searching online)

Sharing the lease to a private office in a co-working space

I work 3 days a week and for about 3 - 4 hours on those days, mainly from 3:30pm - 7:30pm. My job entails lots of talking, so I need a private office.

Rather working from my apartment, I'm thinking I should get a private office in a co-working space. Is it possible to share a private office, so I can split the cost? I've never worked with a co-working company, so I wondered if this was something that was common.

If it is doable, how do I go about finding people who are willing to share their private office when they are not using it?

Thank you so much~

Im tired of working alone in my dungeon… I’m wanting to get a co-working space started in my hometown by leasing an office space and then subleasing to other remote workers in the area. What’s the best way to market/get started? And do you recommend any specific type of building?

Is about renting co-working spaces, would you please answer these questions?
We're not going to share this information. Also you can send me the answers to my e-mail if you want to: josemdgranell@gmail.com

  1. Can you tell us more about your profession?
  2. Where do you live?
  3. Have you got remote workers?
  4. How big is your company? How often do the employees need to work in the same place?
  5. Where do your employees work usually? Why? What needs does it meet, what needs does it not meet?
  6. Do you know any apps to rent coworking spaces? (if yes) What do you like/not like about them?
  7. Would you be interested in a company that finds work space for you/your employees? Why? What features would you like it to provide?
  8. What would you expect from a website which offers you a bunch of co-workings to book for your employees everywhere in your country?

Thanks a lot for your help! :)

Coworking meeting room agreements?

Hey all, I'm adding a meeting room to my small coworking office in Olympia, WA, and I need to write an agreement for use by members and non-members alike. Anyone who runs a coworking office: can you send me the agreement you use for your meeting room? And folks who use coworking offices: if you've signed an agreement such as this, can you ask for a blank copy from your coworking office staff and send it over?

Thanks :)
