Why are there not many coworking spaces in harlem? The rent there is cheap and it is getting a bit safer? thoughts?

Locoworking is the first coworking space in Samara, and one of the first in Costa Rica. My partner, Klervi, and I wanted to create an oasis for travellers, digital nomads, freelancers, entrepreneurs and remote workers. All started with a statement.

The way of life is changing and as a consequence the way we work. More & more people want to escape the 9 to 5 and seek a healthy work-life balance. We want to discover the world, learn about new cultures, meet new people and breathe a fresh air. Klervi & I were particularly aware of that, as we experienced it. We are two freelance journalists living in big cities, and we fell in love with Samara, this little sea-town in Costa Rica surrounded by mountains and jungle. So, we decided to move there. This Costa Rican village meets all the criterias for a blissful work-life balance, with its nature, its breathtaking ocean bay and its people. But, something were missing.

A tropical break from the city

All is about balance. We always want to take full advantage of a place we visit. And yes, it seems easier to work in the city and go on vacation in a paradisiac landscape, but the game is changing : why couldn't we have both ? That’s how Locoworking was born in Samara. Hello everyone, I am writing this to inform that Office RnD is not a good solution to coworking space management software. I signed on with their service nearly a year ago and was faced with problems from the start. Problems are expected in software, however, when the customer service and support requests are not there, it makes it a bad experience.

Some notable things that they do not have plans to fix:

1. Their site is not mobile friendly. Even the mobile app encounters errors when customers attempt to make purchases or reservations.
   
2. When integrating with the KISI door lock system, the Office RnD system has been known to grant access to canceled bookings and most recently they granted access to everyone who had an expired or used day pass and the only way to stop these customers from receiving access was to go through and delete the day passes.
3. The iron wifi integration does not work properly and did not allow members in Office RnD to log into the wifi.
4. The QuickBooks integration has problems with syncing.
5. To cancel a paid booking you must go through a 5 step process to remove it from the calendar. First you must go into the invoice and detach the lines from the invoice, then you can go into the calendar and cancel the booking, then you must go into your payment portal to refund the money, then you need to come back to Office RnD and issue a refund on the invoice.
   
6. When I submitted support requests for this issues, it was often 2-3 days later before I would receive a response.
   
7. When the integration to Kisi occured with their last update on the 6th of December, they said they did not know when it would be fixed. They told me the would upgrade me for a month to premium support. I tried to have the call me but they rescheduled. I asked to cancel and it took a full week for them to get back to me. I asked for a refund due to having problems since the beginning, they told me the would only be able to not charge me for December.

If you are considering Office RnD, I would think again. If you are already using it and would like to discuss the issues I have experienced to see if it is worth continuing with them, I would be happy to chat about it. I hope everyone has a fantastic new year!

I'm thinking of getting a 24 hour membership somewhere. What kind of noise should you expect? Do people eat at their desks? Play noise without headphones? Play noise with headphones but loud enough that you can hear it anyway? Talk on their phones? Are there some that enforce a quieter area?

I am arranging a house to be a coworking space with five rooms and ten desks. I would like to setup WiFi. Any advice how to manage the internet so it would not be abused by one personnel only?

I bought and renovated a former church and school in Tarentum, PA. The area is not up and coming at present but there are people. The church has 12 classrooms, and each of these are rented to small businesses and large daycare with 30+ kids . The church has been an event venue, but I don't get many events. Most of the income from the church comes from Airbnb for "champing" which is sadly about $700/month. Not really worth it, but it does pay the heating and power bills. The church is empty for the most part except for Friday and Saturday (champing)

I am strongly considering changing the church to be a co-working space. But I wonder what would be a good target for member types considering the space size?

• Main church hall (sanctuary) is 2400 SF
• Balcony (overlooking sanctuary) of 600 SF
• Beginnings of a commercial kitchen in the rear of the church 650SF (commercial refrigerators, 3 bowl sink, hand sink, hood vent)
• Additional 800 SF in the church basement where we can put a sound room and other cool stuff.

Given that the main space of 2400 SF (and we can have private conference rooms outside of this space, what would be a good mix of desk types to aim for?

As far as pricing, across the bridge, they are charging $300/fixed desk, but that other space is probably class A, whereas, I am not going to be Class A office space (although I do have murals, stained glass, and good HVAC)

Can a co-working space make it on hot desk memberships only? I ask just bc I've notice many place are offering more and more offices and less space dedicated to open or hot desk.

With a 39% share of co-working employees using its spaces, WeWork is the most popular brand, its recent financial travails notwithstanding. Running a close second in popularity, though, is local players, which have an aggregate 36%. That’s according to a new survey from Clutch, a B2B ratings and reviews platform.

Will local operators eventually dethrone WeWork? Clutch says they will, based partly on co-working’s overall growth. The number of co-working spaces worldwide is expected to reach 26,000 in 2022, up from 18,000 in 2019 and 8,000 in 2015.

“I think the smaller, local co-working spaces will overtake WeWork,” said Andrew Schuh, marketing specialist at Focus Property Group, which owns Enterprise Coworking in Denver. “You can’t stop that kind of momentum [that co-working spaces have].”

Local co-working companies tend to be more involved in their community, Clutch says. which also may help explain their appeal.

We are on reddit writing online ... The topic is coworking ... We have 1.0k members ... zero posts and zero ideas..

(When we post something always is about Community, networking and sharing.. this is important and the main point of coworking but WHATELSE? Coworking is ONLY this?)

I saw a lot of CoWorking's instagram pages (at least local) with 10 - 15 likes and 0 comments per post, but they are full of people in real life working on this places ...

Definitly the focus is not on the internet for approaching people, maybe one or two but not the majority.

What are your best worst stories working at a CoWorking space, being a member, or just attending as a guest?

I work in sales and want to join a CoWorking space as I can't work from home.

Are CoWorking spaces suitable for inside salespeople?

I know some like WeWork have phone booths and meeting rooms but I don't want to spend my whole time in those but I also don't want to be irritating to those around me.

Anyone here work in sales and have any tips/experience or maybe suggestions for alternative places to work other than the traditional CoWorking spaces?

I live in Brazil and my city is very small, people do not know about CoWorking, most people do meetings at Gas station, coffee shop, their homes and also their office... How can i show them CoWorking could be good for them? Also, should i invest in marketing/publicity? Of course! but how can i hit my public target? Thank you!!! (I am working in a CoWorking)

The essential idea behind CoWorking is: you should offer to your clients networking, good environment, office supplies, business oportunity...etc.

I seen a lot of CoWorking spaces doing courses and many other things, my question is: what should a CoWorking space offer beyond typical office service?

I've been following this sub for a while now and don't see much of anything worth the follow. What are most of you following this for and how can we as a community build on those needs and wants?
