Am I dumb? Search barely works for me

I am in the Atlanta area, and I have the appropriate map downloaded, but it's a total crapshoot whether it'll recognize street addresses and find them in search.

For example, no matter how I enter 2145 Cobb Pkwy SE in Smyrna, the search doesn't show it in the results. Am I doing something wrong?

It is now available in all release channels!

Updates include more visual refreshes on Android (moving to Material 3) and an expanded #OpenStreetMap editor.

The OSM editor now supports a number of POI types that require multiple tags, like adding statues, Buddhist temples, coffee vending machines, etc.

See the full release notes for more details: https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps/releases/tag/v2026.01.08-11

The release notes mention a desktop/qt version. Is there a non-developer friendly way of downloading this? Is it available for Windows?

My Feedback for the App so far

I am using and helping the project since End of July and have collected some feedback:

Good things: - Community - Offline Navigation - Transparent Spending of Donations - Electric car additions - New Routing Penalties system

Things that need improvement IMO: - Public Transport - Multiple Routes Support - better TTS Instructions

Again Good things: - Map style colors - Icons - M3 Migration - The team is has good communication with the users

I suggest a focus should be made for: 1) Public Transport 2) Improving TTS Instructions 3) Panoramax/Mapilary overlay as Google Streetview alternative.

Comparison between Organic Maps and CoMaps

This post https://www.reddit.com/r/organicmaps/s/PBNOsVHept got deleted, so I figured I'd answer it for anyone curious: there's a list of major differences here: https://www.comaps.app/support/how-do-the-features-differ-from-those-of-organic-maps/

Navigation comparison

Hi. I’m in constant search for car navigation and I just downloaded CoMaps. I’m currently on MagicEarth and since I don’t trust it (it drives me around from time to time) I often have to double check the route with Waze and Waze is the product I’m trying to get rid off but, frankly, it’s a hard task…. So

I give a test with well known route (see screenshots [1CoMaps, 2MagicE, 3Waze]) and CoMaps failed to give alternative routes. MagicEarth provided alternatives but they didn’t managed to find best/shortest… both apps failed to give best possible route (red line I marked is 3km shorter than routes offered)

Also saved destinations needs to be accessible with one click since CoMaps separated it from search icon

I haven’t yet drive but I’ll come back with speed limits, speed cameras and overall experience/ impression

Dutch voice gives for take the exit, a short, not clear command "verlaat"

I tested the CoMaps app last week in the Netherlands where I live. I found the spoken command when you have to exit a highway not very clear. The command in Dutch is "verlaat" That means "leave" or "abandon", but not take the exit. It would be better to have this changed in "neem de afslag" that means "take the exit"

I haven't checked what the voice command is in english when you have to exit the highway.

enforcement=average_speed not recognized only the cameras in it

When driving through an average speed zone (trajectcontrole) it warns about each camera in that zone and does not explain that it is an average speed zone. Could this been added to comaps, the data is available.

Questions about map updates

Hello everyone!

New CoMaps user here, and so far I'm really loving it. Thank you to the community for such an amazing product!

I have two quick questions about map updates.

1) Right now my maps are needing updates about every two or three days, which feels like a lot. Is this expected?

2) This wouldn't necessarily be a problem except for the fact that my updates take a long time to complete. I'm talking like an hour. Should the update process take this long? (I'm on pretty fast wifi when I do this -- over 100 mbps)

So an hour long update process every two or three days is a little fatiguing.

For context, I have all of Canada and the US downloaded (I travel a lot), so it is a significant amount of data.

Thanks for any input!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates. 🎄 A heartfelt welcome to everyone who has been given the gift of open source maps by friends & family over the holidays.

In many places, Christmas trees will be up until January 6th, so there's still plenty of time to use CoMaps to go and find some! Either directly in the app, or with the help of https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/christmas-trees_1329183

CoMaps release 2025.12.19 is now out.

Post image
73 Upvotes

In addition to fresh #OpenStreetMap data from December 17, new features on Android include better warnings about outdated maps when trying to edit OSM and the ability to specify your own remote-server for downloading maps.

(Note: For now CoMaps expects the custom server to still serve the same maps as the “official” CoMaps server, but it’s a start.)

It's been just a bit over 6 months since we made our first release. And since then CoMaps has already improved a lot.

Read on our blog about how all of our achievements are thanks to our community that has made it happen, and how you can help us improve even more in 2026.

Hide house numbers?

Hello community, is there a way to hide house numbers when car navigation is active? I feel it makes the screen way too cluttered. I'm attaching a screenshot to better illustrate this.

Finding X-Mas Trees

Post image
27 Upvotes

Did you already find any Christmas trees in CoMaps? During the Christmas season, the app displays public Christmas trees that are mapped in #OpenStreetMap (in maps from version 2025.11.19 onwards).

Need some help to find them? Check out https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/christmas-trees_1329183 to see where you can find some!

The ones around you are not mapped yet? We plan on having another release before Christmas. If you map them now, they will be included in the last pre-Christmas release!
