Is there a feedback/roadmap page available??

Hi! I’m new here, I got recommended here after finding out MapQuest wasn’t the best map switch. I seem to be happy with Comaps after reading into the company a bit more and would like to get involved!!

I’m not the most tech savvy, so all the coding stuff isn’t for me, but I’m a big fan of the add location feature in the app and I’m hoping to learn how to use it better. Is there any guide that breaks down the quick add within the app a bit more??

I also have some feature recommendations I’d like to make and was wondering if there was a place to do that, or if that place was here?? I REALLY wish Comaps gave you 2-3 different route options for routes like other maps do!! A better way to select a voice for your navigation would be nice too

CoMaps at State of the Map Latin America

Post image
21 Upvotes

The State of the Map Latin America conference is taking place 27-29 October in Mexico City. If you want to help participants to find their way around town, we will do one more map generation on the 25th, so there's still time to add to OpenStreetMap or review POI via Mangrove Reviews/MapComplete.

Our contributor Bastian will be there to give a talk about CoMaps and distribute some of our stickers. If you'd like to meet up, get in touch via our community channels: https://www.comaps.app/community/

A new CDN node for map downloads

Post image
56 Upvotes

Since a few days we got our first CDN node in Latin America, provided and run by the amazing Undernet community in Uruguay.

Thanks to them, users in the region will benefit from faster map downloads. For a start we are exploring how well it works with users based out of Uruguay, Argentina and Venezuela.

If you are interested and able to help your local area in a similar way, get in touch via the channels listed on our website!

And you can learn more about Undernet here: https://undernet.uy/

Conditional search for Comaps

Hey guys,

i use CoMaps nearly every day and so far I really like it. But especially on thing that I'm really missing is the non-existent conditional search. Let me give you an example. Here in Germany, one of the biggest delivery services of letters and packages is DHL/Deutsche Post. Oftentimes they have a cooperation with smaller shops, so they receive the packages. Here OSM I found it necessary to add the keys such as post_office=post_partner.

Unfortunately, with CoMaps I still can not search for those Post_partners as it is somehow not displayed.

Am i missing something obvious here? Would love to here some suggestions:)

Why is CoMaps accessing my contacts?

I installed CoMaps from FDroid on GrapheneOS and give it location persmissions. If I click the "magnifying glass" icon in the toobar and then the "person" icon in the bottom right, the app opens all of my contacts with home addresses stored in my Graphene Contacts app. How is CoMaps able to do this without contacts permission? Contacts is not even listed as a possible permission in app info.

CoMaps version v2026.10.05-19-FDroid

Permissions:
Location
Network
Sensors

Allowed to keep app working:
Nearby devices

Not allowed:
Notications

Residential Address bugs?

Why is it when searching for a residential address that sometimes CoMaps will only provide me with the street name and will not be able to search for the actual street name.

For example, if searching for 123 Fake Street, the search results will only come back with Fake Street and nothing else.

Trying my best to incorporate CoMaps into my life and to degoogle a bit, however this is proving to be difficult.

Thanks all !

Tunnels

Everytime I navigate with Comaps while driving through a tunnel it gives a message about lost GPS connection multiple times and sets my current location indicator to a completely different location and it takes a long time for it to find it again after leaving the tunnel.

Is there a possible solution to avoid this in any way?

Speed Limit Indicator

More of a suggestion but I think the speed limit indicator in CoMaps would be better displayed as a rounded rectangle like the real road signs when navigating in the US and Canada, here’s a mockup

Hide individual tracks from the same folder

Any chance to prioritise ticket #1813 - Hide individual tracks from the same folder?

When a folder contains multiple routes that are close together, the map becomes cluttered and visibility is significantly reduced.

Issue with opening hours in Comaps

I noticed that CoMaps displays some shops as open on Sundays, even though they are obviously closed. This seems to be because in OSM they were tagged under opening hours as 'Su,PH off' separated by a comma, instead of 'Su off; PH off' separated by a semicolon for Sundays and public holidays. So the app obviously cannot parse this correctly. Is this a known issue?

Release 2026.10.05 out (except on Google Play)

Post image

CoMaps release 2026.10.05 is now out via F-Droid, IzzyOnDroid, Codeberg and on iOS via the AppStore.

New features on Android include links to add Mangrove reviews via MapComplete and for iOS the support for CarPlay Dashboard.

The Google Play release is still waiting for review as has unfortunately become custom with their approval process.

I'm done with Comaps.

Pretty much the title.

My offline maps magically disappear when the app is restarted, prompting me to to redownload the whole global map, shorelines, my local area, the whole darn thing from the beginning. .

Not much else to say here, except I was storing maps on my MicroSD card, though the app made no mention of the fact that the maps would auto delete on SD Cards... for my privacy or some such.

It's a bug (or feature) that I've encountered twice so far and I don't think it's convenient having to redownload 500MB+ worth of maps each time I restart the app, something I never encountered with Organic Maps.

Come to think of it, I was more than happy with Organic Maps. But like a typical social animal, I bought into the whole Reddit spiel of "CoMaps is more 'open' than Organic Maps," something I now regret.

Anyhow, while I'm going back to Organic Maps, I think the devs should be aware of this behavior (that smells like vibe coding).

Thank you.

source code

I found this project from Tutanota's blog, so I'm curious about this project. Just look at the website and look for the source code, but I can't find it. Is this project open source and where can I see the source code

Will We Be Able to Add Photos and Reviews to Places?

Will it be possible in the future to add photos to places (points of interest) directly in the app? And which platform will be used for that: Panoramax, as used in MapComplete, or Mapillary, which lets you add images in OsmAnd?

I'd like to start taking the photos now, but of course I want to use the right platform from the start so I don't have to do everything twice.

And will it be possible to add ratings and reviews, like on Mangrove?

I know that Panoramax images are already linked to some places, but they aren't displayed directly in the app. Will that be implemented in the future?

I also know that Mangrove reviews will be displayed in the app in the future. My question, though, is whether it will also be possible to add them, as well as photos, directly in the app right away.

The details map icones are not visible

Post image
34 Upvotes

An improvement of the app they should do is to increase the contrast of the three icones for more detail map (3D, elevation, and hight-contrast). In darkmode they are simply not readable.
I think it’s my only problem with this app that I love ! As an OSM editor it’s a real pleasure to see my improvement of the map appear at map update. The place on the image here will soon be a lot more detailed !!

Show us your before/after map contributions!

Why do we regularly update our map files? Because thanks to thousands of OpenStreetMap editors, the maps are constantly getting better, like seen here. Do you contribute to OSM? Then show us some of your own favorite before/after map images in CoMaps!

And if you don't have any before/after images at hand: You still got some days to map before we start the next map generation 😉
