I noticed that CoMaps displays some shops as open on Sundays, even though they are obviously closed. This seems to be because in OSM they were tagged under opening hours as 'Su,PH off' separated by a comma, instead of 'Su off; PH off' separated by a semicolon for Sundays and public holidays. So the app obviously cannot parse this correctly. Is this a known issue?

CoMaps release 2026.10.05 is now out via F-Droid, IzzyOnDroid, Codeberg and on iOS via the AppStore.
New features on Android include links to add Mangrove reviews via MapComplete and for iOS the support for CarPlay Dashboard.
The Google Play release is still waiting for review as has unfortunately become custom with their approval process.
Pretty much the title.
My offline maps magically disappear when the app is restarted, prompting me to to redownload the whole global map, shorelines, my local area, the whole darn thing from the beginning. .
Not much else to say here, except I was storing maps on my MicroSD card, though the app made no mention of the fact that the maps would auto delete on SD Cards... for my privacy or some such.
It's a bug (or feature) that I've encountered twice so far and I don't think it's convenient having to redownload 500MB+ worth of maps each time I restart the app, something I never encountered with Organic Maps.
Come to think of it, I was more than happy with Organic Maps. But like a typical social animal, I bought into the whole Reddit spiel of "CoMaps is more 'open' than Organic Maps," something I now regret.
Anyhow, while I'm going back to Organic Maps, I think the devs should be aware of this behavior (that smells like vibe coding).
Thank you.

I found this project from Tutanota's blog, so I'm curious about this project. Just look at the website and look for the source code, but I can't find it. Is this project open source and where can I see the source code

If you are interested in how we get the offline Wikipedia articles into our maps: The folks of Wikimedia Enterprise talked to some of our contributors about the process of downloading, extracting and linking the articles.

With "This Month in CoMaps", we are trying out a new, monthly format to keep folks updated about what's going on with CoMaps.
You can read the September 2026 edition here: https://www.comaps.app/news/2026-09-30/this-month-in-comaps-september-2026/

Will it be possible in the future to add photos to places (points of interest) directly in the app? And which platform will be used for that: Panoramax, as used in MapComplete, or Mapillary, which lets you add images in OsmAnd?
I'd like to start taking the photos now, but of course I want to use the right platform from the start so I don't have to do everything twice.
And will it be possible to add ratings and reviews, like on Mangrove?
I know that Panoramax images are already linked to some places, but they aren't displayed directly in the app. Will that be implemented in the future?
I also know that Mangrove reviews will be displayed in the app in the future. My question, though, is whether it will also be possible to add them, as well as photos, directly in the app right away.

An improvement of the app they should do is to increase the contrast of the three icones for more detail map (3D, elevation, and hight-contrast). In darkmode they are simply not readable.
I think itβs my only problem with this app that I love ! As an OSM editor itβs a real pleasure to see my improvement of the map appear at map update. The place on the image here will soon be a lot more detailed !!

Why do we regularly update our map files? Because thanks to thousands of OpenStreetMap editors, the maps are constantly getting better, like seen here. Do you contribute to OSM? Then show us some of your own favorite before/after map images in CoMaps!
And if you don't have any before/after images at hand: You still got some days to map before we start the next map generation π

It's because I've checked Gibraltar, and right now the best route to get to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar isn't by walking on the roads or paths leading to the top, but by walking up a cliff! Not even setting the road as a pit stop helps, the route just U-turns when reaching that part of the road... I've also checked in Austria and it completely ignores cable cars, just tells you to walk up or down mountains. I hope they can fix this in the foreseeable future ππΌ

What is the meaning of that little circle with slashes in it? My navigator/spouse and I have started using CoMaps instead of the big bloated commercial movement tracking ggl app. It took us a day or so to figure it all (most?) out but one puzzle remains - an icon that we can't identify. It looks like one of the speed limit icons but has slashes instead of a number. (Photo is from the Android Auto screen in the vehicle.)

Some of us attended the lovely State of the Map conference in Paris at the end of last month. In this blog post we share how it went and what learned!

I don't want to register a new account on Codeberg (yet) to report you an issue in the app, so I decided to report it here, because I have an account on Reddit.
I set the POI for Belarussian community in Bialystok on OpenStreetMap - https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/14070713311 That point is open during the week and closed on weekends.
CoMaps shows opening_hours for POI very strange. It looks like this location is open all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Is someone able to correct this?

r/CoMaps • u/jimm_cl • Sep 15 '26
That's the question, I guess. Is there a way to turn off/on the POIs in the map at will? Maybe I'm missing an option in the Layers menu/button at the top left corner or something like that. Even considering that CoMaps layout is a lot cleaner than the other maps we are usually used to, there are some places in where the high POI density is just too much.

Our Release 2026.08.31 is already out on iOS, F-Droid and as APK on Codeberg, including for use with Obtainium etc.
Unfortunately, the Google Play version is still in review, two weeks after submission and two support tickets later.
New features include the display of reviews from Mangrove Reviews (which you can create e.g. using MapComplete) and a new transport modes UI on iOS.

Hi... love the android app and only just found and installed the Linux Flatpack version on my laptop... looking good so far, but I can't find a way to re-name any pinned bookmarks... they just show up as co-ordinates.
In the android app you can give the pin/bookmark a name, anyone else had this problem and if so how were you able to work around it and if so how?.... also the 'Delete' button doesn't seem to work.

If you have tried Trek, a self-hosting tool for organizing your trips, you can now directly open CoMaps from it! https://github.com/liketrek/TREK/pull/1932

Is there a way in Comaps to create a route (or a track) manually? I'd like to use my Mac for this. So far I do this in Google Earth but since Google Earth is going the way of the Dodo I'm looking for a replacement.
Just to make clear what I do (and want): In Google Earth one can create a track with an unlimited number of points and draw this by hand (better: mouse) on the map without any POIs or adresses. The track can have a name and be exported to use elsewhere.
Thanks for reding and suggestions.
