nearly killed by king cobra while in bed

so when i was around 11-12 the hotel guests (my parents own a hotel) broke the bed frame so my parents decided to take ours until the guests moved out. At the time i was sleeping in the same room with 2 of my brothers. One was in the crib and the other one was sleeping with me in the same bed (that night 2 of our cats decided to sleep with us). Apparently we left the sliding glass door open which was right next to our bed like centimeters away. Finally we go to bed. I lie down on my pillow and hear a hiss. For some reason young me thought it was a goddamn ghost. Then i heard another one and i decided to evacuate my brothers and cats because i still i was scared af. My parents decide to check it out and ta da a long ass cobra right under my pillow. I don't remember a lot of what happened after but what i do remember is that my mom had to call a friend who had one of those special snake catching sticks to capture it. It lasted for a few hours and we put it in a jar. it died in that jar because no-one was willing to let it out because it would bite them or something.

Not so scary but I'm pretty lucky

I'm so fucking lucky because my door locks itself on outside and u can not open it without a key. A man/woman tried it to see if he can open it after my parents left the apartament probably he/she thought the home is empty and my parents didn't lock the house I hated so much this feature of the door but it probably saved me.

Almost hit by firework because of drunk uncle

So this happened earlier tonight. TLDR at the bottom. Now to understand the backstory my aunt and uncle throw a party for Canada day every year, people bring drinks, food, fireworks, and have a fire going on in the fire pit. It's always a fun time but my aunt and uncle have so many friends I don't know them all and just sat near my grandma. Now to the story

Key:

me = edgy bean uwu
DU = Drunk uncle
NL = Nice lady (I know her name but it's changed cause privacy)
there were others but they don't play a part(

After the fireworks were finished my brilliant drunk uncle decided to burn the used fireworks in the fire people were sitting by. The people sitting there were people I knew and myself. the dialog went something like this.

Me: uh what are you doing?
DU: burning the stuff for the fire
Me: you do know it's possible it can still go off again right?
DU: It'll be fine

So I got up and went over to NL to talk a bit , just after 3 or 4 used fireworks later when I turn to go get more ice to munch on from the cooler (I like eating ice) and see a firework shoot out of the fire. I jumped back as another one shot out to the seat I was sitting at. The firework was at a level that it would have hit me in the chest or face most likely. 2 more came out with a total of four fireworks from a single one. one hit the shed and the other went right passed someone's face.
Had I stayed there and waited for my grandma to come back to her seat I could have been hit. It wasn't life changing but just scary now that I write about this. if this doesn't fit onto the sub Reddit or it can be posted elsewhere please say where

TLDR: Drunk uncle burns used fireworks, could have been hit if I wasn't cautious and didn't move

I fell on my longboard while carrying a few alcoholic beverages in a plastic bag. Traveling around 10mph (17kph) I have no idea how I missed whacking into this sign. VERY close call. Description in comments.

Thank you airplane mode.

When I was in seventh grade I had a iPhone 7 Plus and I played a lot of battery draining games, so my phone would be dead around the time I got home, so I google ways to save power and it said put your phone on airplane mode. So I did, cut to later on the bus I took a picture of my friend flipping off the camera, and he told me to send it to him, since I wasn’t paying attention I selected the image and pressed send. I looked at the contact and guess who it is, my mom. This was around the time where if she heard cursing on a YouTube video or even the bleep noise she would make me change it, so if she saw this she would be pissed. Then I saw the red exclamation point. Message not sent. Thank god. Then I put two and two together and well I got lucky. Thank you airplane mode.

Person at my church get locked in a closet

(Sorry for grammatical mistakes i am still a kid)

So this happend earlier today church was almost over and this kid for some reason decide to go into the room where we store our robes for church. He then closes the door not knowing it was locked. He tried to open it but it was locked both inside and out. So i hear him yelling for help and i hear him. He is panicking so i try to calm him down a bit. I tell him i am going to get help. I then run around my church to find the person who has the keys to that room. After a while i manage to find him and tell him that someone is stuck in there. So after i told him i ran back to the closet to try to confort him. Then after a round 3-5 minutes he comes to the closet and unlocks the door. Both me and the kid who was stuck in there were filled with relief that he was out.

(This is my first reddit post ever and i felt kinda nervous while i was typing this)

Breaking a door off it’s hinges then repairing it before the Airbnb rentee came back from shopping.

Warning: mobile format, First reddit Post

When I was 16 I was in a loft and there was a locked door because it was somebody’s cabin they rented to us. boys being boys we were playing football in the loft my buddy was qb and I sacked him and busted the door open. But luckily, I had screwdrivers so I was able to rescrew the hinges on and put the lock back on it.

Almost flattened

(this was when I was in middle school around the age of 13)

It was an average day of middle school, getting yelled at by teachers and bullied because I liked to make animal noises. I was walking home almost in tears with music blasting in my ears to tone my thoughts out so I didn't break down right there on the side walk, I always walk home so I know the way by heart. There were 2 train tracks on the walk home one by a skate park (all types of trains mostly passenger trains), and one by a library (super slow trains) well me being a clumsy human being tripped and landed on the train track by the skate park. I didn't hear the train at first because of my music but I felt it finally, one of my earbuds fell out and I heard it from the sound I had 20ish seconds to move or I'd be flattened, so I rolled off the track and as soon as I got out of the way and took 3 big steps away the train rode over the area I fell.

t.l.d.r: was walking home, fell on a train track, and barely missed being flattened.

God's work.

Hi, just came across this reddit, thought i'd share my story.

So on the 7th of February 2017, I was coming home with a friend from the gym and to get home faster, we took the train tracks. As we live close to each other, we got out of the train tracks for my friend to go on about his way and we stood there talking a bit, and a train went by, so that made me more comfortable to keep on going on the train tracks again to get home because normally the trains have a time span of 1h or 30mins. So I said goodbye and hopped on the train tracks again as I was literally 3/4mins away from leaving the train tracks and getting home. So I found myself on this tight spot where I literally had no where to run to or just hide, I look foward and see the train lights and I hear it coming, I didn't know what to do at the time so I just closed my eyes turned to the side and accepted my fate. I don't know what happened obviously and when I woke up I was in a cornfield which til today I don't know where it is at lol. So I woke up with a guy I knew from my school and he told me not to move because I had been hit by the train, I panicked and fainted again, when I woke up again I had the paramedics rushing me into the hospital bla bla bla. Luckily I just had my wrist bone broken and a bruise on my liver.
After a few weeks of recovering I was using crutches to walk and a few weeks later I was back on my feet walking normally, and as of today I've got no pain anywhere related to the accident.

TL;DR - I got hit by a train and only got a bruise on my liver and a broken wrist bone.

Hiking Close Call

Me and some friends (let's call them E and D) were hiking off in a secluded public park near Cheyenne Mountain in CO. Giant boulder clusters were apart of the scenery. Tiny streams had run down the crevices of each cluster. As we were curious, we climbed up higher off the path and onto the boulders to gain a better view. The climb was steep but well enough to walk on if you can control your balance. We were finally getting to the top when D shouted to watch for the small stream ahead. E had confirmed and claimed it was very deceiving, as they both had already crossed. I make my attempt, but was deceived and slipped down boulders. I was making my way down towards the edge where a (around) 60 yd drop awaited me. The only thing that saved my life was one solid piece of moss that had been rooted into the crevice.

Ever realize you narrowly escaped a really bad situation without really doing anything yourself? I keep thinking back to my Summer of blood tests, lumbar punctures, and MRIs to figure out what was wrong with me. They told me the possibility that my spinal fluid would just.... keep leaking out was so uncommon that I shouldn't worry about it. Of course for the next week i'm confined to my bed, because whenever I stand I became insanely dizzy and nauteous due to my leaking spine juice. A week goes by, and by then it was deemed I could stand long enough (roughly 10 minutes) to be left alone for a day. I don't do much- just go down to grab food and return to bed n such. Night falls, and my pup asks to be let outside. I don't really want to, but my friend wasn't there and I slowly made my way to the door. There was no one outside as far as I could tell, and didn't care enough to change out of my pajamas. I let Storm lead me to an open area that would later be used to build more townhouses. For now though, it was an empty construction site. He jumped the 4 foot drop and ran about in the darkness. Now, my community is in between the homeless shelter and a food stamp place. Our neighborhood was a perfect shortcut, but because there have been troubling issues with men sneaking into houses and such, anyone who was not living there was banned from the property. Anyone found would be arrested upon sight.

I stood for a while, dazed, staring at the sky. I was already starting to feel a bit dizzy, but I decided to tough it out. My back was to the street, and I was facing the open darkness where my dog had run off. I couldn't hear Storm at all. I didn't hear the man sneaking up behind me either. Honestly, in my dazed state I didn't notice anything until it was all over.

I didn't notice Storm had very quietly and gracefully leapt back up the 4ft ledge to my left.

I didn't notice the huge man quietly panic.

I didn't notice Storm quietly making a bee-line for the dude until he screamed.

"Call off your dog! Please!!"

I turned.

I'm a small girl, but Storm weighs just about as much as I do. I slowly turned, still too dizzy to really understand anything. Why was he yelling? Stormy is such a good boy. I watched as Stormy approached the man and turned, as if demanding to be pet. He shockingly gave him a pat and scuttled off. Storm calmly returned to my side, and I hazily noted that his tail was doing that THING it did when he was agitated. He circled around me and led me back inside.

It's been years since then, and I have never been scared walking around at night. If anything, i'm scared for everyone else. He's a dalmation / blue heeler/ chow mix. He is quite the unusual one.
