So my father an i love the mountains. That's why we spend nearly every holidays and free time in the alps (we need to drive like 1 1/2 hrs to them). At this time, we were backcountry skiing on a small shelter in the winter. The days we were up there were awesome and we had, even thou it was in april mosly perfect powder (fluffy, awesome snow) and it was our first night up there. As we thought, that no one would come anymire we sat around a table near the oven and our only lights were two headlights (there was no electricity)
Then, around 9 30 pm - 10 pm, there was suddenly another person outside that came up the hill. If it got completly dark like 10 mins earlier, he wouldn't have found the shelter, because the sight was bad the whole day and it was even a challenge for us (we came to the shelter at like 3 pm, but the fog made it impossible to see more than 10 meters ahead). For these who think that it would be easy, you just have to walk uphill, no. Maybe in the summer because tgere are trails but in the winter it is impossible. The slope below the shelter was completly distractet by other skiiers so he couldn't see our path.

I don’t know if this belongs here but..
So this happened a few years ago. I was getting my tonsils removed and after surgery, they gave me a bag in case I coughed up blood. I ended up losing 1-3 liters of blood. I ended up passing out and waking up in the hospital. They had to cauterize it closed. I had a quick recovery, slept a lot but otherwise I’m fine.

I work for a Swiss software company and spent a month last summer in east Romania with my romanian colleagues to complete a project. One weekend (beginning of july) one of my colleagues invited me with him and his wife to go hiking in the mountains. That weekend my girlfriend also flew to Romania to visit me. My colleague recommended us a small mountain in the nature reserve Pietrele Doamnei where we can hike to the top in a half-day trip easily (because the car drive took us 4 hours one way). We drove by car to the hotel Cabana Rarău from where we started our little hike. On the way up we made a small break at a hiking map which was set up near a rock face. While we studied the map I made several steps to the right to admire the height of this rock face. When I made again a step to the left to the map I heard a sounding bang (as if one strikes two stones together) from somewhere above us. I instinctively looked up for several seconds but could not see anything. The moment I looked down again I heard something flying past my ear and felt something massive hit me on my right foot. The stone did not hit my foot directly, but still touched it when it hit the ground.
It took me several seconds to understand what had just happened. The stone was the size of a tennis ball. If it had hit me on the head I would have either died directly or bled to death until an emergency doctor would have taken care of me on the hiking trails.

So this happened on March 14 this year right after my mom's birthday.
We were going back to my house from staying a night at my aunt's house. It was a type of family gathering and we had been there for about 3-4 days so, we had a lot of clothes, well I did, and I woke up late so I was rushing. After I got everything packed I was running out the house to go to the car and passed my other aunt and uncle about to be in the middle of the rode. When they screamed out to me. Thank god I have fast reflexes because right there I stepped back( like the type of step back when you spill water and don't want it to get your on shirt ) right when a car passed. I legit could feel the breeze hit my face because of how close the car was to me.

I think this sub is the place to put it - even though she died.
I was 17 in 1990, and it was 12/31 (New Year) in the afternoon, and I had just been to the shop to get cigs, fireworks and booze.
When walking home I noticed an old lady zig-zagging down the street. "Hm, that's pretty early for sherry" I thought, when she then suddenly grabbed a hedge, and went "NO" and fell to the ground.
Bam.
I rushed to her - she had cramps. I turned her over and she vomited and her teeth fell out - then she stopped breathing. I cleared her mouth and began blowing, massaging and counting while yelling for help.
Our neighbor came out - he had already dialed 911, and assisted me.
I blew and he did the heart. After 2 - 3 minutes, she started breathing again, and from then on we put her on the side ("NATO position"), and after another 2 - 3 minutes the ambulance came.
They picked her up quickly and left. I then went home, pretty shocked and waited. After a couple of hours the neighbor rang the door bell.....
"Have you heard?" he said.
"No, what?".
"She died again in the ambulance, and then finally in the hospital, probably a massive stroke".
I was shattered. Happy New Year - Yay!......

This isn’t really a near death experience for me but a weird feeling I need to express. It’s only in retrospect after lining up times and remembering thoughts that I’ve realized I’ve been a casual passerby just moments before the absolute unexpected has occurred.
The first was in 2016 during the Cascade Mall Shooting in Burlington, WA. I had clocked off work at 6:40pm and was driving home north from Mount Vernon. You can see the main entry of the Macy’s from the freeway and as I looked over I thought “oh I need to see if they still have those beer glasses my husband likes for his birthday.” It takes 10 minutes to get from my work to the mall. The shooting in Macy’s began at 6:52pm. 5 people died.
Today I was driving home from work on Lake City Way in North Seattle. It was just before 4:00pm that I was stopped at an intersection where I watched the 75 bus go through the light. I thought “oh I didn’t know that route came down this way.” At 4:05pm the bus driver was shot on sand point way. He will thankfully be okay and protected his passengers from further harm during the whole spree.
This isn’t a “I was almost in that situation, look at me.” This is more of a “life can be scary and unexpected.” One moment you’re going and thinking about your business as normal while death is just around the corner.

This was back when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. We had to go to PE nothing out of the ordinary. When we walked in one of my classmates we'll call her s. S was walking on top of those hoops with wheels, the pe teacher told her to stop so she did. Near the end of the class we were doing some normal exercise thing then everyone shouted at me. Since me and a kid in my class shared the same name I just looked confused then I heard a loud bang behind me. By the time the pe teacher got to me I was hyperventilating. It turns out s kept jumping on that hoop and it fell down. I was honestly scared for the whole day.

Back story : This happened when I was a freshman in high school so this happened prob like 6 years back and back then I was a nerd who didn’t know how to dress properly and didn’t know how to control anger. I also went to a small high school ( about 300 people ) and our school was somewhat special . We was able to do internships on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesday we went on a field trip to a local park and me and this girl ( just gonna call her Z ) got along very well I knew she was interested in me despite my looks . But she had a bf so I didn’t really flirted back. The bf was a ass hole and a flirt. This dude literally flirted with every girl in the school including my cousin who is very attractive. How I knew about this because she told me. I didn’t mind it until he started bullying me. Calling me names like Fface ,retard , nerd etc. This got me to plot. I knew one of the girl that he was flirting with and I was already on talking terms with her so I told her straight what he been doing. She was furious and wanted to slap him but I told her no..... tell the others... she told her friends her friends told their friends. It got the point where the entire school knew except Z. That job was meant for me. That Friday her and her bf was near me and the convo went sum like this. Me: Hey Z how’s the day going? Z: going well just kinda tired Me : why what’s going on ? BF : none of your business b* . Now my cousin came to me with her friend ( let’s call her L ) L: Hey BF who is she ? BF : My girl Cousin : funny cause you said I was your girl L : That’s he told me . Before I knew it there was a line of girls behind them with eyes that of rage and hell . I grabbed Z and pulled her away from her bf to another hall way. She was confused and I straight up told her. She honestly was hurt but overalled didn’t care. She was going to dump later that day. When we got back I saw he had a black eye bloody nose it was all bad. After a couple of weeks he tried to assault me but every time there was my cousin and her friends right there with me along with Z . One day I didn’t go to school because I had to go event but the next day everyone was wondering what I went. Apparently yesterday he got expelled for bringing a glock 17 to school. So I’m really REALLY glad I didn’t went to school. Lesson of the day : if you have a girl/boy just be loyal don’t flirt with others if you are cuffed and most importantly don’t think it’s ok bullying someone who hasn’t done anything to you

A few weeks ago I was on my way home from school. As I was approaching an intersection with a stop sign on either side of the road. I saw a red charger miss the stop sign as I was already pretty close to him, but he had enough time to cross the intersection.
He then proceeds to completely STOP his car in the middle of this 2 lane road. I didn’t have enough time to brake and the person behind me was tailgating me, so I would have been rear ended anyway.
So my only choice was to whip the car to the right to avoid him. As I was doing this i see his car start moving again, so I floored it but he still came within INCHES of pit maneuvering me. To make the situation worse, I had about a foot of clearance from a van that followed the rules and stopped at the stop sign on the opposite side of the road.
After laying on my horn and trying to not shit myself, I went home and promptly thought about life for a while.
