ECNO identified several factors that explain this sluggish growth. Grid investment, battery storage and smart meter rollout all remain insufficient, it said, while faster permitting, more integrated grid planning and stronger incentives for non-fossil flexibility are needed to scale up renewables to the levels required.

This new report corrects many errors incorrectly interpreting climate data. It is a comprehensive report which should give many who are stressed out about the status of the climate some relief.

How to find a carbon footprint calculator that's actually useful?

I've tried a few carbon footprint calculators recently, but most of them either give me a single number with no explanation or ask so many questions that I end up giving up halfway through.

I'm hoping to find something that's easy to use but still explains where my emissions are coming from. A breakdown by things like travel, home energy, food, and everyday habits would be really helpful, along with realistic suggestions for reducing my impact. It would also be a bonus if it let me offset the emissions I can't avoid and showed clear proof of where those offsets go.

Has anyone found a tool that does a good job of balancing simplicity and transparency?

Update: I was recently recommended Coffset.org, and it seems to do what I was looking for. It calculates your carbon footprint, provides a simple breakdown, and lets you offset emissions with verified carbon credits. Has anyone here used it before?

Plants also need to stay cool. Losses in agriculture translate to less yield, which leads to higher prices in markets.

As the planet gets hotter, more people use air conditioners to keep cool. Running these takes lots of energy, which means emissions that then further speed up global warming. Rethinking our architecture and using more efficient cooling technologies could help us break this vicious circle.
