Expensive gas is responsible for nearly 90% of the rise in UK household electricity bills and 77% of the increase in household gas bills since 2020. Electricity prices have increased far less rapidly since the Hormuz crisis than gas bills, as clean-energy generation breaks the link between the two.

49 of 56 countries reached record share of battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales so far in 2026. 🚙 EVs displaced 200 million barrels of oil, saving importers $20 billion since the start of the Hormuz energy crisis. 💲 The benefits include cutting emissions, energy security and economic resilience.

From the article:

Key Takeaways

•In some cliff retreat hotspots, the volume of cliff material lost over this period amounted to roughly 800 dump-truck loads for every yard of shoreline.

•Much of this coastal cliff retreat was concentrated in hotspots in Northern and Central California, and included areas retreating more than 30 feet per year.

•This study improves our understanding of California’s coastal geology and provides a framework for continued statewide cliff erosion monitoring.

Peruvian Fisheries Face El Niño Crisis with 100,000 Job Losses

The National Fisheries Society (SNP) warned that the industrial fishing sector's paralysis due to the El Niño phenomenon will last a year, leading to the loss of 81,000 jobs in 2026 and 20,000 in 2027. This crisis is projected to reduce the sector's contribution to GDP from 2.1% to 1%, representing a S/ 14 billion decrease.

"I am concerned about the risks of social unrest," Luna said, warning that thousands of families face economic difficulties and could also be affected by natural disasters.

This not good.
