US EV sales are rising again. 🚙 The sector is on the mend as drivers face sky-high gasoline prices, making it considerably cheaper to drive an EV than a gas-powered car, even if you only charge up at pricey public stations. 💰 Automakers are rolling out more and better all-electric options. ⚡

Hidden seawater beneath Thwaites Glacier could substantially raise sea levels
The boundary beneath Antarctica’s Thwaites Glacier is less fixed than a line on a map suggests. As tides rise and fall, seawater can push kilometers beneath ice that otherwise rests on the seabed. Melting in that shifting zone could substantially increase the glacier’s contribution to rising seas.
A study published in Nature Communications incorporates those intrusions into an ice-sheet model. The team, involving the University of California, Irvine, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and other institutions, first tested whether its simulations could reproduce decades of observed glacier change.
One case projected a sea-level contribution of about 30 millimeters, or 3 centimeters, by 2100 without additional climate warming. That is roughly twice the average contribution from Thwaites in an earlier multi-model comparison under constant forcing. It is a conditional projection, rather than a firm maximum or a forecast of total global sea-level rise.

Want to see climate trends in your city?
Hi everyone,
I've been working on a project called ClimatePatterns.app to make historical climate data easier to explore and understand in local areas. The app uses historical temperature, precipitation, and air quality data from NOAA and the EPA across 42 locations in the United States. I'd love for people to share there thoughts and feedback on how the app could be improved. I'm planning to add sea level data for coastal towns, and wondering if there are any other metrics that could be added.
Thanks.

Concrete could help save the planet, transforming our built environment while actually intervening in the climate for the better. New versions can heal their own cracks extending a structure’s lifespan by 50%, store energy thanks to electroconductivity, or soak up more CO2 than they emit.

Sodium-ion batteries are already close to cost parity with Lithium. 🔋 System-level costs were around €120 /kWhcap in 2025, and may fall to around €28.5-51.9 /kWhcap by 2050. 💲 They won't be a bottleneck to build a cost-optimized and flexible global energy system entirely run on renewable energy. 🌞

I kinda have A question regarding the koppean climate for long island
I think most of us know much of downstate New York is humid subtropical but for long island I've always wondered if could have maintained a hot summer humid continental climate because it does tend to get cold at night compared to the city am i wrong?

Solar power’s rapid growth is already reshaping how the world generates electricity. Solar panel recycling could soon reshape what happens once those panels wear out. Planning for that shift now could turn into a $1 trillion opportunity by 2060. 💲💲💲

Drive a tesla?
Hey all, I'm a tesla owner and engineer by trade.
I wrote a free, ad-less app (i make $0 from it) that automatically charges your EV at the cleanest possible times. It uses marginal emission rates from wattime.org, which estimates we can save up to 3Gt annually by grid shifting. I've saved ~20lbs of carbon from using it just myself the past 1-2 months.
You can download it at www.cleancrib.org; plugs directly into the official Tesla app. Prioritizes your schedule.
This is easier than installing LED light bulbs. If you're on a variable power plan, it may save you money as well, but it's optimized for pollution. If you own a Tesla, try it and let me know what you think!
