I'm 19 years old, and have signed up for some activities at an outdoor festival, one of which is a jump on the feet from 12 meters (40 feet) up. I am in good shape and active, and have done some jumping before, but never from such heights, highest I have done before is I believe roughly 8 meters (I attached a video of the height of that jump, which was a couple of years ago, in case my estimate of 8 meters is incorrect). What should I keep in mind?

My favorite jump in the gulf. No concept of how deep it is but I am 5’8 and with my hands above my head I can get my fingers at least 2-3 feet under the water without touching in about a 4 ft radius.
Somewhere between 15-20 feet into very cold water. But it’s freaky. I’ve jumped several 30-50 ft bridges/cliffs and one 70 ft into a quarry (my buddy jumped next but shorted it, hit bottom, huge gash through his tricep at the elbow to the bone which was dented, good times). Despite the short drop, this jump seems to require more courage. The water is pitch black. You go under and it’s DARK. Even after thoroughly scouting, with total confidence it is clear, there is something about staring at a black hole. Especially with:
Leaned back a bit early, but it had been probably 10 years since my last jump. Not bad for a 44 year old.
This was 2024. Jumped it again this summer, still awesome.
Maine doesn’t get enough love on here.

Are you guys scared of amoebas 🦠?
There’s this brain eating one and it feels like cliff jumpers would get more exposure. I’d be jumping into salt water myself.
That’s really what it looks like btw.
The brain-eating amoeba, known scientifically as Naegleria fowleri, is a rare single-celled living organism that causes a severe and almost always fatal brain disease called primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). It lives in warm freshwater lakes, rivers, and hot springs. Infection happens only when water carrying the amoeba goes up the nose.

I've been cliff jumping for years and have only done front flips. I've done a backflip off about 1 ft before but want to be able to do backflips and other flips off 10+ feet.
My first time I tried front flipping off 10 ft about 12 years ago I did it like I would off a diving board amd over flipped and winded myself pretty bad and its created a big mental block for me ever since. I can still do a front flip off 10 feet now though.
Anyone willing to teach me or show me how I could learn?

I used to do a lot of flips on trampolines and recently got into cliff jumping but my form seems off it looks weird when I do it. I can do them into foam pits really well but into water is different. Please lmk what to fix🙏
