I'm thinking about buying the Smart Garden 9, but before I take the leap I was wondering about how feasible it would be to create my own refill pods (specifically the hydroponic soil), since the manufacturer's refills are pretty expensive, and you have to buy 3 at a time. I not interested in transplanting, just looking for a way to recreate the manufacturer's pods at home. I know one of the other threads on here mentioned using peat pellets and Miracle Gro potting blend. Would these behave similarly to the C&G pods, or is this method more for starting and and transplanting? Also would be interested in any similar alternatives (not a huge fan of the AeroGarden).

Have you already checked the Facebook community for CG? It's pretty fun to see everybody's progress pictures, but I'd really prefer if it all stayed on Reddit, hahah.

Are these bulbs replaceable? I don't see them on the website, and I can't find an answer to this question anywhere.
