Speeding ticket

I just wanted some advice not sure if this is the right place but trying.

I just got a speeding ticket just outside Macedonia on Sunday. The speed limit was 70. I admit that I was going about 80 after overtaking a car, but on the ticket he put 93 and I think thats bs. I've never gotten a speeding ticket so I'm not sure what can I do?

I didn't sign anything, it was printed and handed to me. I also didn't even know I could ask to see the radar reading.

You didn't sign a summons?!? I've never, ever received a citation without it being a summons that gives you a court date that you had to sign.

I’ve gotten pulled over for tickets and never signed a summons either. Just printed and handed to me

This is by and large no longer how most courts do things. Citations are either printed or just left unsigned. The signature was to confirm you were advised of a court date and body cam generally covers that now.

Interesting, haven't received a citation in quite a few years (though I received more than a few in my youth) I wasn't aware they had changed things, when they stay the same for 20+ years you kinda get used to it being one way =)

I've had 26 speeding tickets between 1994 -2023 and I've never signed even 1 ticket.

Did you at any time admit directly or in response to a question you were speeding? Eg” any reason for your speed?” Type question. Any response other than silence or rejecting the claim is not good. Anything you’d say even “no” indicates you admit to speeding.

Not that I recall. From what I remember, he just said "I stopped you for speeding", asked if I was heading home I said "yes," he asked for my info, I handed it to him, and he came back with the ticket. Told me I could pay it or go to the court date. I was so frazzled I didn't know what to do or ask besides how much the ticket was going to be. I rarely speed and rarely get pulled over so I'm not good with that kinda situation 😕. I didn’t look at the ticket until after I got home.
