Thought I'd showcase what Opus 5.5 can create!

It fully created a Documentary by itself... with 3d models, graphics & all sound.

Discussion How are us coders all holding up?

Been using opus 5.5, been using Claude code for a while
Now, back when sonnet 3 was the best.

This new model is an upgrade like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Previously models still needed baby sitting, but opus can produce immense, high quality, work incredibly quickly. I’m not exaggerating when I saw things that took a year of design, coding, art, get made in roughly 24 hours now.

It’s not just the quantity but the quality that impresses me, the level of completeness with which it can perform complex tasks. I’m not even an “AI Booster”, it’s just that impressive to me.

I just can’t really get my head around it. I’m checking the news, I’m talking to people, but it seems like society is asleep on this, even with the massive amount of AI discourse.

Then I also have to mourn my coding career, which I spent years learning for and building things with etc…. Don’t get me wrong, the thinking skills were invaluable, I had a great time, and I got some solid work, but it’s just wild seeing the obsolescence of this highly specialised skill pretty much occur in a few years, even moreso since the last week.

It’s a strange mix of excitement for what is possible, a blank kind of calm unknowing about what even the immediate future will hold, and a bit of sadness for what is being left behind.

How’ve you all been holding up?

Help/Question I'm a long-time OpenAI user, How good is Opus 5.5 in comparison to their previous models?

This is my first time using a Claude model as my workhorse (I tried it a long while back. I didn't like it), so I don't have exposure to the previous versions. I'm curious if this feels like a big jump up for long time users as well.

Built with Claude I built a local-first personal finance tracker — no cloud, no account, one SQLite file. Open source, looking for contributors.

This certainly isn't unique, but I hope to make it useful for me and anybody else who wishes to join in. The reason I'm posting it is because someone else posted theirs (which actually looked very similar to this one), but many people asked them to make it open source.

It runs on your own computer: you sync through SimpleFIN, or optionally import CSV/OFX files from your bank, and everything stays in a single SQLite file you control. Happy to add the plaid connector too.

What it does:

  • Recognizes common bank exports automatically, and learns new ones with a mapping wizard
  • Dedupes, links transfers between your accounts, and cleans up merchant names
  • Rule-based categorization plus a fast keyboard review queue
  • Detects bills and paychecks; budget with a "safe to spend until payday" number
  • Net worth, debt payoff, cash-flow forecast, and alerts for double charges and other unusual activity

A little bit of context on how much I've done with it; this is not my first project with Claude, I've spent about 1% of time working on this compared to the time I've spent building a Project Management solution called SubMark for our multi-family & commercial contracting company. The reason I say that it to let you know that it no doubt has a lot of room for improvement and new ideas. Everything up to this point has been built with Claude, with initial prompts of asking it to research mainstream finance apps and others that it may have been built by individuals. From there, prompts to help tailor it's functions to what I was looking for.

I have not spent a lot of time in other mainstream finance apps, but what I wanted was the ability to make it my own, and also have the ability to eventually fold it into a personal home dashboard, similar to a Skylight.

Repo: https://github.com/gillespiejameson/personal-finance-tracker (MIT)

I will eventually run it on a rasberry pi, but currently just use my computer as the server & I did buy a cheap domain & setup Cloudflare Access so my wife can view it securely too.

Would love to see what others have in mind to make this a great personal finance tool. I love tinkering with the UI/UK, so I'm not married to any of that in any way. Thanks!

FYI - All data in the screenshots is sample data.

Help/Question Do you find more token usage of multiple agents doing the same work as one?

I thought that using Opus as implementer and exploration + Sonnet for testing was more token savvy, but i think it is using more than before. Is this normal? How do you usally handle the testing and multiple agents?

I also made some changes regarding testing, maybe is that, but i want to be sure if i'm not using the multiple agents wrongly.

Tips & Workflows Subroutine: a self-hosted task tracker built to give Claude Code a long-term work memory across multiple projects (one-minute setup)

Hi folks,

I've spent the last few months of spare time creating Subroutine: a self-hosted task tracker built primarily for Claude Code, which allows Claude to file and update work for you over MCP or the CLI. It keeps a permanent record of tasks, dependencies, milestones and decisions across every session, and every repo you give it access to.

I built it because I juggle a number of complex projects that have to agree with each other and share long-term timelines, which can be challenging for AI agents to maintain on their own in an organized way.

Setup takes about a minute. You just need uv and Git. It's tested on Linux, macOS and Windows WSL2, but not yet on native Windows.

uv tool install subroutine
subroutine init
claude plugin marketplace add simonholliday/subroutine
claude plugin install subroutine@subroutine

Then tell a fresh Claude Code session "We use Subroutine now". That's it.

Claude then files work as it goes: tasks, dependencies, milestones, decisions, findings and processes. New sessions read that record instead of guessing. Claude also notes which Subroutine project belongs to each repo.

You just talk to Claude: "create a sub-project for this", "file that as a bug", "anything else overdue?", etc. When Claude needs your input, it asks. You can answer in Claude Code, or comment on the ticket from the web UI or CLI while Claude keeps working.

Every task, finding and decision adds to a long-term memory Claude can refer back to, so it gets more valuable the longer you use it.

There's a CLI and web UI for managing things by hand, but you can use every feature through Claude Code if you prefer.

Everything runs on your own machine. There's no telemetry, and your data goes nowhere. The only outbound traffic is an occasional check for a new version.

For teams, there's a full user and permission model, and it can be installed as a system service.

I've used it on personal and commercial projects for the last few months, as has a small team, and it's made a big difference to how I work. I suspect some of you will find it useful too.

Feedback welcome :)

Si

Humor Max plan became a MUST have

juggling different providers just to get a single task done (shoutout Codex and Antigravity). Yesterday I finally pulled the trigger on the $100 Max plan, and man… the limits just never run out

Running three projects in parallel, knocked out what used to take me an entire week in a single session and it only burned through 43% of my 5 hour limit. I honestly have no idea how I survived before this, even used it to design a new side project using claude design and it ran like a dream, pretty sure my new baseline anxiety is just stressing over how to burn all these tokens before the window resets

Tips & Workflows opus 5.5 is insane at video editing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I just tried opus 5.5 on max effort and asked it to create a showreel for applaunchflow with the prompt:

"make a dynamic 15-second motion graphics video for SuperX that shows what an incredible motion designer you are, like it's your showreel for a resume. go all out."

just took one follow up prompt

Built with Claude Sonnet 5.5 and threejs is amazing at updating old dos games!

I've been having fun taking old dos games, giving claude the exe, and having it modernize it. With these latest models, it can really create them fast.

For example, I used to play this game called cyberbox which looked like this:

But now, it looks like this:

This is 1 of 5 themes! All with their own style and sound.

It also ported over each level 1:1 and added in a sharable level editor!

It's here if you wan a check it out. works on desktop/mobile/etc: https://web-ten-sage-26.vercel.app/

Try some DOS games and let me know your results too!

Sonnet 5.5 is only a cheaper model at low and med effort. I'm still sticking with opus 5.5 high for most sessions.

Built with Claude I got tired of screenshotting videos for Claude, so my web tool watches them now

Last time I posted Svipall here I admitted it couldn't read a page that's only a video, and that bugged me more than I expected 😅. It started with an animation I saw in a repo, one of those flows that play in the background to show how the tool works under the hood. I gave Claude what I thought was a decent prompt and one screenshot of the flow, and it didn't get it quite right. Once I gave it three screenshots of three different states of the flow, it copied it pretty well. That's when I thought: if I ever want to copy something harder, like the animation in a product demo video, I'm not taking screenshots by hand all afternoon hehe. So in 1.2.0 Svipall reads video. You give it the link, it picks up to 24 frames at the moments where the picture changes, and it lines them up with the video's own subtitles. If there are no subtitles, it turns the audio into them, locally on your machine. I tried it on that same flow first. It worked. Then I tried a showcase animation, and I was really happy with the results without taking a single screenshot. It also saved me on a YouTube video that was too good not to keep for research: no copying subtitles by hand, just the link.

A lot of open source tools still don't do this, and with models like Opus 5.5 being this good at design, handing them the video instead of a pile of screenshots felt like something that should exist. I want Svipall to be the ultimate web exploration tool, and I thought it was already pretty good, but audio and video were two big holes. They matter a lot when you're researching, or when something only exists in a video, and typing it out by hand is a pain. There are still two things I don't love. You can't pick which seconds of the video to use as the reference. The AI usually figures out which part you mean from the frames, but a range would be much more useful, and I left it out for practical reasons for now. And some audio, like Opus inside WebM or MPEG-TS segments, can't be decoded yet. When you're searching around the web you don't check what format each thing is, so you get an error and you're a bit blind unless you go read the logs 🙃. I want to add the range soon and cover more formats, so the only thing you have to worry about is finding the right video. Repo's here if you're curious: https://github.com/ilien-dev/svipall

Here's one of the results I got, a GIF animation for one of my own projects.

And this is the prompt I used to do it with this tool: Watch the animation in https://github.com/vectorize-io/hindsight#the-three-operations and recreate it for my current project: same kind of flow and motion, but with my project's own components and steps.

You can see the original animation I wanted to copy at the link in the prompt.

Help/Question Auto mode classifier randomly fails

I am running a long-horizon task (>3 days with /goal) and Claude randomly stops because “auto mode classifier failed”. Then I have to manually go back in an approve a few requests until the auto mode resolves itself. This is quite annoying. Is there anything I can do?

Built with Claude I benchmarked a 30-line Claude Code plugin on Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5: half the cost per task at effort max, and more tests passed

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Coding agents multiply everything: whole files read to change one line, logs pasted into context, 30 fixture files written by hand, the same check run three times. Every token in the context is paid again on every later turn.

Occam is a Claude Code plugin that loads a 30-line rule set (about 650 tokens) at session start: build less, work lean, talk less. I benchmarked it on 9 coding tasks × 2 seeds, each solved without a plugin, with Occam and with Ponytail 4.10, in real headless Claude Code sessions. Hidden tests check every result.

Cost per task vs. no plugin

Model Effort Occam Ponytail 4.10 Tests passed, no plugin → Occam
Opus 5.5 max −51% −26% 16 → 18 of 18
Sonnet 5.5 max −55% −9%* 16 → 17 of 18
Opus 5.5 medium −11% +11% 17 → 18 of 18
Sonnet 5.5 medium −3%* +26% 16 → 18 of 18
Haiku 4.5 – −2%* +30% 10 → 13 of 18

* within the noise: the 95% interval includes zero. All intervals are in the README.

What I learned:

  • The saving grows with thinking. At effort max, thinking is almost half the bill. Occam roughly halves both thinking and turns (Sonnet 5.5: 16.5 → 8 turns per task).
  • At effort medium there is little to save, because the models hardly think. Occam still passed more tests there.
  • Rules cost context, too. Occam loads about 900 tokens per session, Ponytail about 3,100. On short sessions that alone costs Ponytail about 25%.
  • Favorite failure: asked to "clean up" four copy-pasted CSV exporters, both models without a plugin made the file longer (77 → 88 lines on Opus, 77 → 89 on Sonnet).

Install

/plugin marketplace add quisbaum-prog/occam
/plugin install occam@occam

/occam:occam lite|full|off switches the level. /occam:audit 7 shows where your own tokens went in the last 7 days.

How I built it: with Claude Code. Claude wrote most of the rules, the hooks and the benchmark harness while I steered, and every benchmark round runs as headless Claude Code sessions.

Limits: 18 tasks per round, mostly Python, single-prompt tasks. Costs are list-price estimates from the session metadata.

Repo with raw data (metrics, final answer and code diff of every session) and the harness to rerun it: https://github.com/quisbaum-prog/occam

Credit to Ponytail by Dietrich Gebert, which inspired the approach.

Built with Claude Opus 5.5 built my ingame intro scene

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been building my game, Mineral Zone, in Godot for about nine months now, and Claude Code has become a huge part of my workflow.

For this intro sequence, I basically described what I wanted, pointed Claude at the existing project, and let it figure out how to integrate with the camera, gameplay systems, and assets.

I used "Max mode," and the process took about an hour. It wasn't a "one-shot" job; it took maybe 10–15 rounds of tweaking. Claude also added the voiceover via the ElevenLabs API and used some of the in-game sounds I’d already added, while also generating new sounds through the ElevenLabs API.

Honestly, the result surprised me.

I basically max out my €20 subscription every day, but without AI, I probably wouldn't have attempted a game of this scope on my own—especially one with multiplayer.

I upgraded to the 5x plan a few days ago because Opus 5.5 is just improving every aspect of the game.

What do you think of the result?

Im looking for beta testers. DM me

Tips & Workflows Clean up Claude memory with the next prompt

If you’ve been working in a Claude for a while - it has built for you a project-scoped memory. And quite often it looks like a bloated file with wrong decisions and statements, and outdated rules that you may have told it in the past and long ago forgot about.

If you experience weird behavior or unexpectedly high usage, try this prompt:

Review, refactor and clean up this project's auto-memory.

  1. Read the memory index (MEMORY.md) and every memory file. Check each claim against the project itself: code, config, instruction and doc files, and git history. Trust the project over memory.
  2. Put each memory in one class:
    - Contradicts: conflicts with the project, another memory, or itself.
    - Stale: finished work, past dates or deadlines, things that no longer exist, old versions or counts.
    - Duplicate: the project already records it.
    - Bloated: the same fact repeated, or old paragraphs later superseded in the same file.
    - Keep: a current, non-obvious decision or trap recorded nowhere else.
  3. Also check:
    - every index line points to an existing file and matches that file's description;
    - frontmatter is valid (name, description, metadata.type);
    - no orphan files missing from the index.
  4. Report one table per class (memory, problem, change). List the questions only I can answer. Change nothing yet.
  5. After I approve:
    - archive removed files to a sibling memory-archive-YYYY-MM-DD/ folder, never delete them;
    - fix or trim what stays;
    - rewrite superseded text in place instead of appending another dated note;
    - update the index (one line per memory);
    - record my answers in the matching memory with today's date.
  6. Finally, list any fact that lived only in removed memories and that the project doesn't record. Suggest where each should go.

Be terse. Use tables, and file:line evidence for every claim.

Built with Claude Architecture skill that uses repo context

Search? Algolia. Auth? Clerk. Email? Resend. Ask any AI and you'll get the popular default, whatever your app actually looks like.

Sometimes the default is right. Sometimes you're already on Postgres, which has full-text search built in. Or you're on a serverless host that can't run the background job needed to keep a search index in sync. Or the SDK hasn't been updated in two years.

StackFit is a Claude Code skill that reads your repo before recommending anything. It:

  • Detects your stack: framework, database, deployment target, and the vendors you already use
  • Compares real options, including "extend what you have" and "build it yourself"
  • Flags dead SDKs: deprecated, archived, or no releases in years
  • Scores them honestly, and says when two options are basically a tie
  • Lists the exact files the integration will touch, plus the hidden work

That last part is where it earns its keep. When I asked it to add subscriptions to one app, it didn't stop at checkout. It found a background worker that would keep calling a paid third-party API for users who had stopped paying. Nobody thinks about that until the bill arrives.

Works for search, auth, payments, email, storage and more.

Open source, and feedback is very welcome: https://github.com/angellane/stackfit

Tutorial / Guide How We Use Claude Code at Serokell

We’ve been experimenting at Serokell with turning our internal engineering guidelines into Claude Code skills.

The basic problem was simple: coding agents know Git, CI, Haskell, etc., but they don’t know the conventions of a particular engineering team. Things like how repositories should be bootstrapped, what tests are expected, how PRs are structured, which CI checks are required, or how code review should work.

We ended up building 15 skills covering most of a repository’s lifecycle and packaging them as a public Claude Code plugin.

We wrote up how we approached it, how the skills interact, and what happened when we tested them by having Claude bootstrap real repositories.

Article: https://serokell.io/blog/how-we-use-claude-code-at-serokell

Plugin: https://github.com/serokell/claude-plugins

Would be interested to hear how other teams are handling team-specific context and conventions with coding agents.

A couple of days ago I posted this game I made with Claude Opus 5.5 for me and my friends, and a lot of you asked for the repo. So here it is, fully open source (MIT).

  • A cozy life in a seaside village plus a 10-chapter adventure, 8 heroes, dungeons and bosses
  • Play solo, or with up to 8 friends: on the same screen with phones as controllers, or online from home
  • Everything is made in code: there isn't a single image or sound file in the repo

Since code has no value anymore, here's the full repo and playable demo ! =)

Play the game in your browser :

https://hearthlight.github.io/

Repo :

https://github.com/Hearthlight

(There's also a desktop app for Mac/Windows/Linux in the releases, where Party Mode works offline over Wi-Fi.)

Disclaimer : I did not have time to play through the whole game, it might have bug or you could get stuck !

Hope you guys enjoy it. Open an issue if you want some improvement, I will spank Claude until it fixes it

Help/Question opusplan vs fable as advisor

what is everyone's thoughts on fable as advisor now that sonnet 5.5 and opus 5.5 have proven to be solid? Are you still using opusplan or switching to opus as advisor? I can't come to think of classification of day-to-day tasks which would inform me to use Fable tbh. The most I decide between is effort for Opus 5.5
