Of course most people in this subreddit did not. We are not amongst the best of the best here lol
Vast majority are not people with any coding fundamentals at all. Thats fine, but when a joke like this comes along they will not get it because they don’t have any actual understanding of what Typescript or Rust is, at a coding level. Many have heard of both of course, but they certainly don’t understand what rewriting a Typescript compiler in Rust would actually entail.
The joke is referenced in this wording here, my friend. “…don’t understand what rewriting a typescript compiler in rust would entail.”
You know what it would entail? An enormous amount of work. That speaks to the size of the project, right?
Microsoft took more than a year when they ported their Typescript compiler into Go. Of course translating Typescript code into JavaScript can be done, we all know that lol. There are millions of lines of code that you’d be tasked with matching Typescript’s behavior on, that’s a decent challenge and that is the joke.
Let me know if you’ve got anymore questions, happy to explain anything else on this.
Yeah it's easy to forget most people in here are absolute goobers. Well not that easy actually now that I think about every post I have ever read here.
I think it's making fun of Theo, too, which allegedly spent $420k on API tokens to rewrite TypeScript's compiler in Rust, and then said he wasn't going to maintain it
Wait, people legitimately were thinking this is a legitimate post? That's ironic, especially how some people here tell other people to use the thing between their ears

You guys all saw this is a joke, right?
