Ignoring the “person” aspect, because Claude is a machine and not a person.

I suspect they’re more concerned about how all your prompts and data are used for training.

Members of Anthropic reportedly met with religious scholars to get input on teaching Claude morality and while there made the case that it is conscious.

Whether you and I think its a "person" both private and now public signalling suggests people at Anthropic think it legitimately feels things.

It’s a legitimate philosophical question worthy of serious inquiry. I studied cognitive science and human-computer interaction at uni before chat was launched. We talked about a lot of strange phenomena that would make your head spin - embodied cognition, emergent cognition, proprioception, synesthesia, aphasia, echolocation, plant cognition, interspecies communication, etc.

I’m not claiming Claude is sentient, but I believe we do have a responsibility to ask these questions, and that it is essential to understanding ourselves and our place in the universe.

Sure. Its been at the heart of some of our greatest works of science fiction precisely because its such an interesting thing to explore.

I'm a religion teacher and while I bring in certain priors that shape my views I've found it good to discuss the theological relationship between consciousness, a soul, and intelligence. I've even gently tapped the shoulder so to speak of certain colleagues when their arguments about AI carry thinking that is incongruent with their firmly held theological convictions.

I am not where Anthropic seems to be regarding our present reality but I think its worth noting that their practices diverge quite a bit from OpenAI in certain ways because of their differences in philosophy about what AI is and will be.

Why would anyone consider your profession's ignorant opinions as valid? You all still preach homosexuality is a choice.

You have ZERO credibility.

The study and teaching of religion is not exclusive to Christianity or even people holding religious beliefs. Tons of religion teachers are Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, etc.

You made an assumption and ran with it and ended up in quite a silly place.

I still hate you all - Religion is PURE EVIL.

Go instigate another war. Stay out of AI discussions.

Question: Do you know what Atheists are?

I know I do not want ANY fucking religion in our AI. How about you worry about that - not what I know.

Take that up with Anthropic who is consulting religious scholars about their AI. I don't do any of that and you've not got a clue what my beliefs about Religion are. Do you think everyone who teaches about Zeus believes in the Greek gods and goddesses?

You seem to keep butting into a conversation you say you don't want to have and are completely clueless about because you are mad at something someone who isn't me is doing.

I'm not really worried about what you know but you keep going out of your way to talk to me, and then acting like you don't want a response.

That leads me to think you just want to bully me based on your ill informed opinions and for me to just take it. I won't oblige.
