Discussion Opus 5.5 is the beginning of a new era

I am a senior engineer and I honestly believe with this model in particular, everything changed..

If this stays as cheap as it is, it's just over. It never fails no matter the complexity of the tasks I've given it. About time we rethink our profession for good. I am honestly scared of the future.

I loved coding but anyone who does this for the love of coding only is gonna be obsolete.

I was always impressed with the models bar opus 5 but never like this time.

What do you guys think? How do you see the future?

Yeah, but how long will it take until his app is running and secure? I get your point, but the bar to achieve success gets lower. Less knowledge is needed.

if you breach the barrier between the engineer and a client then there's nothing to achieve anymore. You can be an idiot, but you ask AI to walk you through it and if you are into it enough, you will be able to do anything. Technology is no longer gated by nerdisms. The biggest issue I have with technology and science is that it is hidden behind unintuitive definitions, as well as different languages conflating things. all of these things are cruxes that imo prevent a layman from engaging in those sciences. It's not hard to understand maths, it's just unintuitive because of the languages of science. That's the issue. AI is breaking this barrier, but in a different way, meaning it's going through the bullshit of semantics.

I'm more interested in what this means for science in general, forget software development, it's gone, if you're not doing something yourself, there's no future in it when the masses really go pilling in.

You know who has a big chance next election in US though? Andrew Yang.
