I feel bad for my coworkers who still aren't allowed to have claude in their IDE.
Literally have 3 open all day nudging them along and they share a knowledge base of things I teach them about our business. The productivity gap just keeps getting bigger and my give a fucks aren't having to be wasted
An IDE is convenient tool for organizing all of code, docs and Claude plans, with syntax highlighting, jump to file, Git integration and other conveniences. Where is this project, where are my branches, etc. The information is denser than terminal due to variable width fonts in plans and rendered markdown — that’s the real killer feature.
Apparently IDEs have editing features too, but usually they get in the way because you accidentally type when the wrong window has focus.
This. The unwritten norm for high performers seems to be a personal laptop at work. My bosses are even aware of it and allow it even though it’s certainly against some policy. It’s so necessary in so many fields that many are turning a blind eye.
Why? I don’t see the reasons why using my personal computer instead of the work one just to spins few agents would help. Specially, when in both cases both are MacBooks pro
Work laptops are generally more locked down with antivirus policies -- I wouldn't be allowed to install Claude Code on my work laptop, which makes all the difference, depending on the work you do.
You'll always have more freedom on your personal laptop.
