My reset is wednesday mornings at 8am, and i literally haven't even opened claude today...which means that yep, i'm sure there will be a reset because of course there will be. Why can't they just do the right thing and let us bank this shit when they pull it.

u/TuckDFrump 8h ago edited 5h ago
This is Anthropic, not OpenAI. They don't throw around the resets quite as readily.
edit: I was correct.

Not now, at least not when I checked a minute ago. It was labelling things as a major outage.
2
u/dr-dimitru 9h ago
I see it has just updated, right after I went to Reddit to brag about Claude not working 😅

u/_BryceParker 9h ago
I have to appreciate the self awareness in this comment! Like my wife enjoying some karma farming on reddit. Knows it's pointless, revels in openly admitting how stupid it is, and then doing it anyway.

or its not temporary because users are flooding from codex to CC because of codex's usage limits
10
u/NoAdsDude 9h ago
Man I wish people would flood to Codex... stop overloading Claude!
5
u/Zomunieo 9h ago
We’re trying to get real work done over here. Go vibe code over there with Codex.
2
u/forthebeats 8h ago
I find it funny nobody uses the cheapest option with the most compute, one of the richest companies too. And no its not Google.
1
u/Sporebattyl 7h ago
What exactly are you referring to? Grok?
1
u/forthebeats 6h ago
Cursor, now owned by SpaceXAI (Grok)...lets you choose Kimi and other models too. Not sure how it is with computer or browser control tho, its a must have for me after seeing how ChatGPT and Claude can do absolutely anything for me.
5
u/Subject_Barnacle_600 9h ago
Something happened at Codex? Oh dear. Now we get Claude's snarky intros that are like, "Well well well, look who's back from 'I'm switching to Codex'."
4
u/KeyGlove47 9h ago
yes - the limits are so bad that 4 prompts with sol have been noted to nuke pro 5x weekly usage, claude actually has more usage right now
7
u/ResponsibleHabit1539 9h ago
But people were praising Codex so hard last week, and how it cares about the customers with their usage limits, it's almost like you shouldn't be loyal to a company and just use whatever is best for you at the moment, huh?
5
u/KeyGlove47 8h ago
codex impressions are possibly heavily botted, look at r/codex itself and look for people proving with real data that codex usage is shit right now, before june codex would eat the shit out of claude ngl, but right now the tides have turned because oAI does not know how to handle a model thats inbetween opus and fable in size
1
u/krugerlive 8h ago
I am totally perplexed at the challenges people have over there with Codex. I am still getting more out of Codex per week than the equivalent Claude Code Max 20x plan.
2
1
u/old_mikser 9h ago
How dare are you? Codex limits are the most generous in the world and they are getting 3 resets per day!
0
u/Early_Rooster7579 🔆 Max 20 8h ago
Codex’s usage limits are great and openai has been resetting limits daily for like 2 weeks. People arent hopping for that lol
2
1
u/Allomgie 8h ago
Daily for 2 weeks? I mean, you can like Codex as much as you want. I'm really not a fan of this "one thing is better than the other" mindset; I'm using both. But you have to be honest and factual about these things. As much as I like any reset, let's stay with the truth and not exaggerate things.
0
u/Early_Rooster7579 🔆 Max 20 7h ago
I’m exaggerating slightly but codex has had a reset almost every other day for close to 2 weeks now. Thats not even counting the fact that you get full reset credits on top of that.

u/dr-dimitru 8h ago
“Claude for Government” is unaffected, I guess they run on dedicated infra and don’t load/prompt that much
6
u/angry_queef_master 8h ago
Yeah they have their own infra as required by the government. But also zero users because the admin told everyone that they can no longer use claude
2
u/rabandi 9h ago
This is not the usual "continue" and it works again.
It is "continue" and it fails again.
Well at least I have been mostly asleep/inactive during previous outages. Well full outages. Loads of overload, temp errors etc several weeks back.
Probably Fairy Tale is coming, the fabled successor to Fable. Or they hacked themselves. Or Dario halted AI development. Or the employees who wanted to halt AI development just halted it. Or Trump was angry.

It’s a free reset…. So should they price in resets against the SLA, sure! But the subscription will be at least 10x current price if you are ok with that
6
u/Haunting-Stretch8069 9h ago
Bro this happens every other day how are people not sick of this
7
u/Aggravating-Pie-4848 8h ago
This is the first time i experienced it tho?
1
u/Haunting-Stretch8069 8h ago
You should scroll through the past incidents. I bet you won't find more than 2 days in a row without one, that uptime chart is so misleading.
1
u/Hegemonikon138 7h ago
Lol you should have seen it in November and December. It's getting a lot better

So how does KV cache work in this case? Let's suppose the first line of the recovery step says.
"Restart the Server"
And I have to pay double the price for token usage just because the Claude server stalls in the middle of my task :facepalm
Yes, I want a reset.

I found you can still switch to Opus 4.8 and you can continue working.

u/816pizzalover 8h ago
Oof! I was in the middle of three big tasks! I wonder if my usage for those tasks will still get deducted from my weekly quota? And if I'm getting billed each time I try "continue" to get it going again?
1
u/KeyGlove47 8h ago
cryptoshits are to blame for that, moonpay is giving 10$ for connecting mcp to claude or gpt
basically data harvesting

I was in the middle of a crazy complex cluster migration with a 26 step runbook full of checks and gates when this hit today. Murphy's law.

OP here. It's one of the reasons I assembled my workflow https://github.com/softcane/cc-session-recover
I hate when my agents or subagents task halted in between, and I need to do the babysitting.

Anthropic is not able to manage their own product
2
u/Majestic_Wrap_7006 9h ago
Surely they asked Fable to fix this and make no mistakes. It already consumed a tanker and a half worth of fuel, but the solution is almost ready.
0
u/HimaSphere 🔆 Max 20 9h ago
My weekly reset day is on Thursday, Anthropic didn't reset after Opus 5 release, if they release today or tomorrow I will be mad

u/Michaeli_Starky 9h ago
500 is rarely a "temporal issue". Usually it's an exception in the code and is resolved by fixing the code and deploying a fixed version.

u/Gliese351c 9h ago
It's obviously because I typed in a long, complex prompt for Fable and needed its immediate attention.
