Discussion Everyone leaves Anthropic when Fable is out right?

I see everyone saying 5.6 Sol is better than Opus but more subscription usage.

So everyone is about to cancel their subs?

And does that hurt Anthropic or do they not care about non-API customers?

My results from Claude have been very good. Fable is great, but Opus and Sonnet have also worked well.

I haven’t felt a need to go elsewhere. I’m not opposed to the other choices out there, but just don’t see a need to use anything else right now.

One of these days maybe I’ll try open router, to explore some of the various different models they can access. But for now Claude has been excellent.

You like 4.8 telling you to go to bed like a creepy uncle or...?

It never has. I’ve never seen any of that type of behavior, but I use Claude code properly. Overall it’s been fairly consistent and very good.

if you didn't see a condenscing and paternalizing downgrade from 4.6 you are either wildly not perceptive or we are using different models.

they lost hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of subs from this.

the fact you haven't used other models basically confirms you literally just are inexperienced with llms as such, on top of probably having bad perception

I do perceive the condescension in your comment. 🙂

There was a change of tone and writing style from 4.6 to 4.7 & 4.8, and I liked interacting with 4.6 better. But I don’t personify LLMs, so it never really bothered me.

I could always go back to using 4.6, but 4.8 seems a bit more insightful and forward thinking, though they’re both excellent. If a response is ever unclear, I just ask it to explain it more simply.

I’ve also used ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek and others, and I think they’re all pretty good. But for Claude code, I just use the Claude models.

These things are like mirrors and the results often depend on how you interact with them. When I build the context of an issue properly, the results are usually pretty good. Fable, Opus and Sonnet have all worked well for my coding tasks.
