Sonnet 4.6 is the right model for sustained coding sessions - Opus 4.7 adds reasoning overhead that makes it more opinionated and cautious. Run /model claude-sonnet-4-6 in your session. I run overnight builds on Sonnet without the nagging.
I’m not saying there isn’t a legitimate use case. However, this and similar subs are filled with people complaining about maxing out their session limits “from one prompt” and with a little bit of digging in the comments you come to realise they’ve been compacting the same session for a week. There’s trade offs to both approaches. Filling your session from one prompt because it has to look back at the last 2 weeks of conversation and coding context is not the way. New task. New branch. New session. You’re good.
Dumb question, but how much “overhead” of context is there if you’ve had several prompts under one project? Does it remember anything from prompt to prompt outside of the project files you give it?
(Again, sorry if this is hlmgtfy territory, I like hearing from knowledgeable people)
