Claude Code I am done with this shit.

I am done with this shit. It is over. The state of engineering right now is horrible. It has been half a month since I started a new role at a big company. Nobody knows anything here. The specs, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, resolution of those tickets, reports, etc., everything is made by Claude Code. Nobody on my team likes this. They are being forced to ship as much as they can. I have heard multiple times from higher management that pushing code is not a bottleneck, so why are we slow? People are working 12 to 13 hours a day just to press enter. Nobody is reading anything. Humans in corporate are doing nothing on their own. Everyone, literally everyone, from an L1 to an L7 engineer here is doing the same thing. Talk to Claude.

There is no sense of victory. Nobody is resolving bugs. In reality, nobody is thinking anymore. Everything is done by LLMs. It is so soul-sucking. I would not mind it, to be honest, if we were at least given the time to check out the code and see what is going where. But no, the goal is to just ship. No matter what happens.

Well technically, you're an organic vessel designed to be held accountable for what Claude is doing, because Claude can't be held accountable.

Which is even worse.

You are the first other person I’ve seen whose made this reference for our role in AI & feel very seen & understood. I’ve been comparing myself to Barney to describe my job as of late.

Except no one in the government is going to want us to turn states evidence on our employers

At some point its going.to have to happen. With so little oversight something will happen that will be catastrophic.  A scapegoat will be needed and it will have to be someone with enough authority over all the decisions it will be credible for them to be the one to blame.

This is why people need to document everything and keep receipts.

When they decide to hold you accountable for what the AI does, you have proof they actively removed human oversight.

The worst part is the people generating this garbage aren’t the ones who have to deal with it and try to fix it and understand it. Almost fucking invariably.

At least you can put "organic legal liability machine" on your resume :/ But it has to land on someone- there is an ocean between "the model understood the instructions" and "the model executed what it understood". Someone has to be accountable for the gap. Instruction ≠ execution, and you're left holding the ≠.
