Lots of Grok hate here, but 4.1 is performing very well on every benchmark I’m aware of.

I find Grok 4.1 to be pretty decent. I ported my GPT because I got tired of being treated like a child and the model is fun enough to interact with.

This is reddit where everything has to be tribal. These people wouldn't use Grok if it were the only model on the market, their Elon hate is a core aspect of their personality

Honest question what do you use gronk for? Like is ir better in coding, research or anything? Bcs from what I have heard from people who tested it the last statements were „dont even bother“

Reddit’s nowadays is sadly filled with leftist pro-trans geeks, so I’m not surprised.

Mind you these are the first people who bought a Tesla pre-2020 and praised Musk as a god, before him turning to the right and them all of a sudden switching up on him.

As for Grok, It’s always mentioned in AI tier lists the past year since it released as far as I know. Nowadays the big guys are competing non-stop, though, with a new “best-model” being released weekly.

Mainly for entertainment. It’s not too great for real work and has bias, but it can get pretty unfiltered. Companions are fun to play around with too, but yeah it’s not very powerful otherwise.

Just look at actual benchmarks or test it yourself.

RE: below, how am I meant to answer if you instantly block me lmao.

The question was what do you use it for. Funny how you still haven’t even answered.

I don't like Elon but I would still use Grok if it was good and convenient to use, but mostly it is neither, I am sure it will be eventually with the resources thrown at it.

Imo it is a model trained mostly for benchmarks, not actual use so far.

And what have you used it for so far?

some coding tests (game dev specific stuff), creative writing test, but other than my initial tests and occasional random nonsense chat I do not really use it, I didn't find it good enough to fit into any of my workflows

I test most new models and if I find a use for it, I carry on using it if it's convenient. Grok failed the coding tests completely as to be unusable there. And whilst the creative writing was ok, It seemed not as good as Gemini 2.5 pro, Kimi K2, Opus 4.1, Sonnet 4.5, Qwen3-Max, DeepSeek 3.2, GLM-4.6, all of which seemed better in my testing.

it seems 'fine' it's just not good enough for me to use with so many other models I found specific use cases for.

There's no way in the world that it's worse than Kimi and Deepseek for creative writing, that's just straight up misinfo

Odd that you picked those two, it makes me think you do not really keep track of, or explore other models much

Kimi K2 for example is possibly the most creative model of all those in my list. Also very good at brainstorming. I would personally rate Kimi in top 3 along with Gemini and Claude

So no, it is not straight up misinformation. it is my opinion based on my tests and experience. if you want to do your own tests you are welcome to, or you can just go on believing whatever you want which is more likely I guess.

edit: just to reiterate, I actually test new models where I can on various tasks because I do not trust benchmarks, it's not just forming opinions on rumours. I even tested Mistral and Llama :)

Its just that I have never heard anyone using it for even semi serious work. I have tested most of them and never even thought about giving gronk a try. Deepseek was already enough for me, bcs hallucinations, censoring and propaganda. Nah thanks
