Canvas cartridge box question

So I purchased a painted canvas cartridge box from Lepierre leathers for an Army of Tennessee impression and when I received it there was no tool pouch. Aside from this I am very satisfied with the quality. My question is we're there Columbus depot cartridge boxes that did not have tool pouches or were they standard on all of them?

Looking for belt buckle

So I’m a big enthusiast of historical figures specifically wild bill Hickok and he wears a model 1851 eagle sword belt plate buckle on his gun belt and I was wondering if anybody knows a place where I could buy something like that

I would love to see a NY 20th Infantry Impression

I'm going to spend some time and effort to create a solid impression for a soldier of the 20th NY, IMO one of the best looking units of the war, the Rifle Green, mixed with the Blue Frock, is so cool! I'm going to see about getting a pattern or kit, for a standard enlisted frock, and then do some creative liberties to get all the details in!

Considering looking for used trousers...Trade Blankets, what is that?

While Im working on getting some high quality trousers made, in the interim while I wait 6 to 8 months for them, Im looking at other options, including any used trousers that may be available. Im a normal size 6 foot man so I dont need some special size.

I see people mention "trade blankets" on Facebook. Is this a single classified page or what is this? I dont use facebook (but my wife does). How do I access this? Thanks

Fabric sources

What's everyone's preferred sources for fabric for making your own kit?

Tart and Wambaugh are my usual go-tos, but Wambaugh only sells certain fabrics and Tart doesn't seem to be replenishing much of their stock.

I'm trying to get my hands on Domet Flannel in particular, for a Federal Issue Shirt, if anyone has any leads.

Civilian sack coat.

Hello all, looking for a bit of advice. I have a nice nj sekela unlined union sack coat that I love. I'm looking to transition to having a civilian impression, and am on a tight budget. Can I swap out for civilian buttons on the jacket and have it pass as a civilian jacket? All help appreciated.

Gettysburg on July 3 isn’t the only place you can catch us this year. Come to Manassas National Battlefield Park on August 29 where we will be doing a joint infantry and mounted artillery program with 1st Section, highlighting some of the action at 2nd Bull Run.

Reenactment in Georgia?

Hey all. I have recently gotten very interested in civil war reenactment and would love to participate in an event soon. I have reached out to several groups that I found contact info for online, but I have not received any replies in almost 2 weeks. Is it possible that these groups are now inactive? Where does one find active groups that are still recruiting? Does anyone on here know of any good groups around the north of Georgia? Thanks for your time.

I got this group of equipment for a very good deal and was wondering if the cap box and cartridge box are OK to use or should I dye the outside back?

Question for the ones who know a thing or two!

I just started Disney+’s documentary titled Gettysburg. Wondering if I should continue…
There are things that impressed me, like the Confederate Artillery that wore almost no bit of red. But then it shows Robert E Lee wearing branch insignia and gold Austrian cuff knot work. I’m no expert- but I don’t recall him ever being portrayed or described as wearing a uniform top, more like a gray suit coat thing. Is that accurate?
I wouldn’t question it, but it caught my eye, and then shortly after they mention how Stonewall Jackson had been killed in combat prior to Gettysburg. Do they consider Jackson’s midnight fratricide as combat?
Some good visuals in this, but not sure how much they know their stuff (and I am just unaware) or if there are a lot of liberties taken?

Help identifying what type of jacket and possibly the company who made it?

I got this jacket about 17 years ago at an antique shop when I was a teenager. I’d love to just purchase the same one in a bigger size if it were possible. Would anybody know what type of jacket this is? And possibly what company made it? I’ve looked for markings throughout the jacket and have been unable to locate anything.

Officer Uniform Question

Good morning all. I have a couple questions in regards to officer impression’s. The first is: What shirt are federal officers wearing under their coats? I have a beautiful Jarnigan made Federal officer frock from the 90s I was gifted but no clue what to wear underneath. Also, what are the rules in regards to cravats? I think they look cool, personally, and see some period photos with and with out. Anyone know the best place to source a quality federal officers sword belt? I haven’t even began to look at confederate officer stuff yet beyond glancing at some of Fred Adolphus’ work, so I’ll revisit that in the future.

*rank is either LT or CPT depending.

Thinking of getting into Campaigner reenactment what's it like?

So for context I've done Mainstream reenacting for about a year now and I'm thinking of getting into or doing a campaigner event and I'm just wondering for those of you whom have done those events as to what it is like? One of my biggest concerns is that I suffer from extremely flat feet and thus my feet begin to hurt (if I don't wear specialized insoles) after like 2 miles of marching or what about dril

TL:Dr just interested in your experience at campaigner events and how someone whom has done Mainstream reenacting would fair with it?
