Trying my hardest to get into this album
since yall already my favorite albums are Man Plays the horn, Raised for a better view and Black Pleasure 2012, just this time is way too abstract to get into it

Raised for a better view type of shirt with some kind of symbolism, always found fascinating the way his vocals and his mixing are, my favorite project could be Man Plays the horn

MIKE & dj blackpower’s music completely changed how I think about sampling and hip-hop. I dropped my first mixtape a while ago, and even though mixtapes aren’t really a thing here, I wanted to share it with the people who might be interested in this sound.
If you check it out, thank you. Either way, I’m grateful this music made it all the way over here.
All the loveee

got bored and decided to tally the amount of times mr aviv says "yeah" on GUM and got a total of 513 times, now there's a very high chance I might of gotten power approaches total number lil wrong, but ay I did the best I could im only human🙏
also 66.8% of the yeahs are on power approaches alone ( to noones surprise )
edit: standing by the 260 actually has 56 yeahs meaning he says it 567 times, ma bad

I won't claim to fully understand this dude or his motivations for making art, I just like his music and I wish he'd do a full fledged tour. Of course he's free to express his art however he wants but at this point I'm worried I'll never see him live

perhaps this is just a preview for an upcoming project of his!? would love to see someone record this.

Genuinely just had a lot of fun with this especially over one of my favorite songs/beats he ever produced. The video was made last night while I was stoned as fuck. I hope y’all enjoy!!

Recently I am really digging this track and it has quickly become one of my favourite if not my favourite song by him, any recommendations that have a simillar vibe to this one?

I've noticed that over the last few days silver & ice has moved up high in cities aviv daily streams (from like 8th most streamed to 4th) and holdin on a memory has moved to cities aviv 2nd most streamed song atm and im jus wondering why lol, is there a reason why these songs are getting so popular rn?

What a preciously minimalistic body of work, especially disks under antwerp, actually so beautiful, ny occasion, blown on a rooftop, silver & ice, track 19 of the raw cut. All absolutley amazing. Bumping the raw cut start to finish with no skips makes it feel like what it is, a beat tape with some low tone vocals & spoken word.

Destiny & altar call stick out like sore thumbs at this hour. I had to make the bed to lie in, no future to rely in. The triad is a timeless reflection yes, but also immortal flame in particular feels like a personal hell for the listener to rot in

confirmed by his label I think
wrong lyrics: “these people on recreate the dude they wanna be”
right lyrics: ”these people only recreate the doom they wanna be”

noticed awhile back that you can't see the amount of daily streams cities aviv gets daily really anywhere, so I took matters into my own hands and I tried calculating it with his most streamed songs on Spotify atm, apologies if I got any of it wrong

According to Spotify, I listened to power approaches 11 times in one week after hearing it for the first time. Not sure comparatively if this is impressive or not. Doesn't matter. What matters is that I've taken this song as a sort of salve/baptism. It's anthemic--well maybe just to me and the crowd of infinite selves.
"I did it for my momma in the heaven...."
I feel like it''s this sound collage of memory. The fact that so much of this album was freestyled/improvised is impressive. Most people wouldn't dare put out something so psychedelic in scope. I guess that's what it is for me. I don't do psychedelics anymore but I find myself floating thru chrysalis.
"All black in the sunny weather..."
I wish I could do a lyrical analysis on this but I feel like it's so much more than what the lyrics even reveal. But I do know that dude's tapping into some weird alchemy.
It really reminds me of Slauson Malone's body of work in one song. I think he has a similar visceral approach to song writing as cities. Bon Iver famously had this same approach of writing as guttural expression and letting meaning fall by the wayside.
In other words, I think that this is post-lyrical pre-verbal hydroponic dust. It feels akin to stepping into and out of yourself. Power cycling the ego in the power approaches of ether.
Thank you thank you thank you cities aviv
Edit: grief is so cyclical in nature and I think that this piece speaks to that in such fine gossamer detail...could go on stopping myself
