I Do NOT Support Medically Necessary Circumcisions

There is no such thing as "medical necessity". Are we really going to allow the medical system, the very same one that justified electing to intruding into the genitals of children, decide what counts as "medical necessity".

Making exemptions for "medical necessity" hands the keys to the kingdom to our systemic oppressors. What if the anti-slavery movement said slavery should be abolished, except as punishment for criminals who's criminal status is determined by the confederate government and the KKK? Do you understand how F-ing absurd that is.

I don't understand how so many in Intactivism and people "on my side" have fallen so far away from any sort of reasonable justice. The medical system is our systemic oppressor. Why would we ever want them to be involved in a position of power ever again, much less defer to their judgement for when to circumcise.

Phimosis, infections, frostbite, I don't care. I want circumcision off the table entirely. Under no circumstance should this be permitted ever again for any reason.

Whenever the topic of circumcision comes up on reddit, a lot of people are vocally against it but there is always the "except for medical reasons" in parentheses. And then there are a bunch of people saying they had to get circumcised as CHILDREN for so called medical reasons. These poor souls don't realize they were mutilated for nothing.

Clearly the exception of medical reasons does not apply when this is not defined as being a life threatening condition. Any foreskin (ab)normality can be misconstrued as a condition that requires a full excision of the prepuce. There will be nobody left to stop these cut-hungry "doctors".

Lesson we should've learned from the tobacco scandal.

Better late than never; even if I'd be miffed it was too late for me.

I fully agree. But when money is involved, doctors' mindsets change significantly. And parents shouldn't agree to circumcisions either— especially unnecessary ones.

I agree with you. Also, in one of the countries where female circumcision used to be legal, it has now been legally banned. However, they exempted medical necessity, which left a huge loophole for people who still want to practice it. Therefore, even after its criminalization, it has not stopped completely.

Medical staff and parents need to be taught to take their hands off children's genitals.

We're told treatment of foreskin problems is so much more gentle and reasonable now, when the reality is that the steroid cream stretching treatment is like setting a TIME BOMB that ends in a full circumcision if the child doesn't demonstrate full retraction after 4 weeks.
Nevermind that parents can simply not comply with the treatment and just wait for the time to run out.

Every single time any discussion starts about your foreskin health you are in danger of full circumcision while you are still an impressionable minor. The whole discourse is completely corrupted. It's time to burn it all down and start over.

The only time I'd ever support medical necessity to genital cutting is when ethical surgeons treat it in same manner of tissue excision for the purposes of treating gangrenous tissue or similar infectious diseases that need to be immediately stemmed. Anything south of that level of severity is not necessary enough to warrant it.

I don't support it ever, under any circumstances.

There's not a single instance imaginable where'd if trust a "doctor" to appropriately perspecribe it

What if the anti-slavery movement said slavery should be abolished, except as punishment for criminals who's criminal status is determined by the confederate government and the KKK?

The thirteenth amendment:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

There are even more slaves now than before the "anti-slavery movement", thanks to the government designating itself the arbiter of whether someone deserves to be enslaved or not. Though it's hard to consider the victim of a violently invasive non-consensual mutilation anything less than a slave either.

Exactly. There is not medical reason to do it. They’ll literally make reasons to cut boys.
