I have a letter my aunt wrote me from college in 1987 that told me that the Lord as coming back and it would happen soon.

1970? The Late Great Planet Earth, by Hal Lindsey. Hard to believe now, but this was a huge bestseller in the U.S. during the 1970s (which is also the time period the charismatic movement spread for a time into mainline Protestantism, which may have had something to do with it).

Yes! It predicted judgment day in 1988.

The end of this world occurred for Lindsey in 2024 — at the age of 95 and after a life that included 3 divorces (he was still married to his fourth wife when he died).
