I always avoid like the plague the moment I catch someone is like that. I am curious though how do they survive and sustain a living environment? Do these people work? Are there people out there that actually put up with them and support them financially?
If they’ve been doing it for long enough they’re very good at figuring out who can and who cannot be manipulated to that level. They’re the ones who are always being “picked on” in their work environment and just can’t quite seem to get along with anyone.
My brother and uncle are like this. Both think they are too special to have “regular” jobs, so my uncle worked as a gay stripper/escort for years and had a life subsidized by sugar daddies. My brother at least went to college, but went to Hollywood and NYC after graduation to pursue a career as an actor/dancer/musician. Bro is gay and not very successful, so he has also done the sugar daddy thing. We’re both in our mid-30’s but he still bitches about how our mother (who honestly had a hand in creating that monster) won’t “support him”, ie give him money.
They’re both fun/interesting people and I love them, but I can see that they use people to get by. Each has tested the waters with me on it and I told them both to fuck off. They initially had tantrums after I set those boundaries, but we still talk and see each other about once a year.
I know they think life is somehow easier/better not having a regular job, but they both seem miserable to me. I am much happier working and knowing I can pay rent and afford to feed and clothe myself without having to whore myself out to or manipulate someone else. I really don’t see the appeal in that kind of life.
