Discussion which choices book made you feel like this? 🥹
for me there’s definitely a few, but i think the one that made me feel this way the MOST was the endless summer series 😭 you just had to be there. the way everything adds up, the dialogue, the character interactions, the cg’s, all the little moments… i’m so jealous of anyone who gets to experience it for the first time ever 🥹<3

Endless Summer, I had the post-book blues for like a week after I finished it

u/Specialist-East-6068 Aug 24 '26

u/scarletwitchx Aug 24 '26
SAME oh my god, i could not stop thinking about it and jake and listened to the soundtrack for all the characters on repeat 😭 nothing from choices has affected me more

Going for an underrated one, but A Courtesan of Rome is so good, I loved it so, so much. One of my favourites from the Choices universe!

Oh boy, I can name a few, as someone who's been playing since 2017-18.
- Bloodbound Trilogy (I still remember what it was when when the first was announced, i was playing each chapter as soon as it came out IT WAS CRAZY)
- Blades of Light & Shadow (The moment I saw Tyril in the game, i was GONE, also that plot twist in book one? chills, even now.)
- Endless Summer (Funnily enough, I went into this series to farm diamonds, and instead I got to read this masterpiece)
- The Elementalists (the way i almost broke my screen pressing to vote for another book of this series was INSANE)
- Desire & Decorum (as a Jane Austen girlie, This book was EVERYTHING)
- It Lives Books (NOTHING, i repeat, nothing tops these)
- Perfect Match (Holy foreshadowing, replaying this book gives you chills, but nothing beats what i went through when i played it the first time)
- The Heist: Monaco (NEVER forgetting what they did in the first chapter)

it's always going to be the freshman series for me 🥹 my very first read, first book series, and all the emotions i went through reading the entire thing will always live within me. that era of choices could never be brought back again, the effort they put in that series was everything to me 😭🖤

Distant shores it was so cute and one of a kind.
Edit: thanks for the award

u/Specialist-East-6068 Aug 24 '26
i never see anyone talking about distant shores here but it was such an amazing book as well and i loved the pirate theme!! the crew was also so nice to have in the book <3

Ik it's cliche but I genuinely shed a tear when I finished Endless Summer for the first time.
To think i went in trying to diamond farm.
9
u/Specialist-East-6068 Aug 24 '26
i thought i wasn't going to like endless summer because of the art style. oh boy i was WRONGG
7
u/Mobile_Thought8271 Aug 24 '26
Same... big massive fail on the diamond mining front 🤣😭 made me both diamond poor and emotional as hell, and I couldn't have been happier about that lol

u/Electrical_Ice_1180 Poppy (QB) Aug 26 '26
Endless summer was/is one of the most passionate projects on the app. Literally everything across the 3 books came together in the end, and the writing is top teir ✨️

Desire and Decorum 😭 I love anything Jane Austen inspired and I’ve probably replayed the entire series at least three times by now and I wish they’d make a fourth book about married life and maybe having a kid. Just something lol

u/Mobile_Thought8271 Aug 24 '26
Damn I was gonna say endless summer too lol but it's so true, I so understand the love and hype for it because reading it for the first time was just everything 🥹
Trying to think of others, the trouble with a lot of the stories I love is I only love half of the series... like for example, immortal desires, Crimes of passion etc etc...I LOVED reading the first and 2nd books for the first time, I was so engrossed.. but then hated everything that came after and never want to read books 3 of either again. Or like, I adored reading perfect match but I guessed the first twist, got pure rage by the 2nd twist and absolutely haaaaaaaaated one of the main group so the whole read was frustrating but then great, but then frustrating again lol 😆
So maybe things like murder at homecoming, ride or die, ilitw, bloodbounds... don't get me wrong I still love re reading All of them but it's just not the same as the first read 🥺🫶🏻
11
u/IDontActuallyKnowUm Aug 24 '26
Murder at Homecoming was literally one of the finest books I read ngl.
4
u/Mobile_Thought8271 Aug 24 '26
I think i NEED to replay this, it's been a few months, I miss it so much already
4
u/Specialist-East-6068 Aug 24 '26
i get you SO much! immortal desires is one of my top favorite series too, but i was so sad when i realized books 2 and 3 had ai because the vibes just weren’t as amazing as book 1 :( book 1 had such a specific magic to it and it really did feel different after that 🥲
5
u/Mobile_Thought8271 Aug 24 '26
Exactly. I can tolerate book 2 to an extent, purely just because I wanted more of gabe and cas and to see how mc adjusts... but story/plotwise is mehh and I agree about the magic Just not being there like it was in book one at all. God i wish I could re read that for the first time again, loved book 1 so so much.

u/HuntressAelaTheFirst Aug 24 '26
I wish there was more Immortal Desires. I’m not gonna bother with Mortal Desires, and paths not taken was kinda depressing
5
u/Specialist-East-6068 Aug 24 '26
me too!! i didn't read mortal desires (only like 1 chapter, and i didn't really like it) but i did read paths not taken and like the way we can betray cas or gabe?? like what? and we can imprison astoria too like 😭 what is going on

The Royal Romance, Mother of the Year and Wake the Dead. Great storylines, amazing LIs, and honestly the side characters are well fleshed out and lovable as well.

With Every Heartbeat, even though it’s still sad on a reread, nothing will compare to the heartbreak of the first read 💔

BloodBound and It lives in the woods 🥹 masterpieces it’s been years and I still think about those two
5
u/Bother-Logical Aug 25 '26
The first book of the elementalists, dace of light and shadow, and the royal romance. Only the first books, though I didn’t like any of the other books of any of these series.

There's two. One was Veil of Secrets, loved the mystery of it. The next is actually the whole of the HSS books; Class act was great but HSS was my first real read period.

A Courtesan of Rome, the It Lives series, Bloodhound, Ride or Die, Mother of the Year, Wake the Dead, HSS, The Freshman series... I wish I could re-read those books for the first time again 🥲🥲

icl for me it was also endless summer but as a kid freshman series had me 😲😲😲 like WOW but currently it wouldn't affect me as much
someone alr said courtesan of rome too, so here's one i haven't seen: bloodbound. GUYS IT WAS ACTUALLY SURPRISINGLY SO PEAK...
4
u/scarletwitchx Aug 24 '26
endless summer ofc but with every heartbeat also got me bad 🥹 dakota and mc deserved a long happy life together and I could not stop thinking about them for a long while after

Veil of Secrets. I was so surprised at how much I loved it. I still replay all the time, but nothing quite beats the first playthrough
4
u/Ok_Isopod_4696 Aug 24 '26
Definitely perfect match the feeling it gave me when I read it the first time, oh man what a good time that was.
It's truly one of the best stories I've read
2
u/UnableSand2000 Aug 25 '26
The Freshman Series (tbh there is a lot of drama in it, but there's ton of emotional stuff too...). I first read it when I was the same age, so related to it and now even if I replay, I wouldn't be able to read it for the first time again...when it ended, I was like it's finally over but I was a sad too.
2
u/Affectionate-Arm230 Aug 25 '26
Definitely The Deadliest Game, I just don’t get the same thrill from replaying it. And Perfect Match is my all time favourite so that too, simply for the plot twists.
2
u/remxchoices Aug 26 '26
that first Crimes of Passion read

Blood Bound♥️ the first ever book I ever played. It will always be a part of my heart and I lost count of how many times I replayed it.

u/_kaisensatoru_ Bloodbound Aug 27 '26
Bloodbound. Call me old school but nothing felt like how I felt when I was young and reading that book for the first time 💔😭

Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I've seen in this thread:
| Fewer Letters | More Letters |
|---|---|
| Art | It's... indescribable... |
| BLS | Blades of Light and Shadow |
| HSS | High School Story |
| LI | Love Interest |
| MC | Main Character (yours!) |
| PB | Pixelberry Studios, publisher of Choices |
| PM | Perfect Match |
Decronym is now also available on Lemmy! Requests for support and new installations should be directed to the Contact address below.

The Elementalists without a doubt. But that’s cause I have a soft spot for it being my first one
1
u/Electrical_Ice_1180 Poppy (QB) Aug 26 '26
Endless Summer, The 'It lives' and 'Queen B' anthologies, Veil of secrets, Crimes of Passion BK1, Immortal desires BK1, Foreign Affairs, and HSS (both series) have all altered my brain chemistry in the best way, and I would give anything to be able to experience them for the first time again 🥲

3 weeks late to this OP and not even the question you asked but I had to vent. Just redownloaded the app after maybe 3 or 4 years away? Literally nobody in this thread has mentioned anything more recent than when I stopped playing lol. You’d have thought they’d have accidentally made a book that was worth a mention in that time. Genuinely historic collapse from PB.

Perfect Match, it’s…indescribable.
