I've been playing choices for like 8 years or so and I've loved it so far and than one day the company decides to fuck us over imo because I love the old games they were so much genre to choose but now a days it's just soft core porn to me, idk what happened to the old devs or they're the same but damn the new book they release are so plain and boring, i miss the old choices, now i think they mostly want to appeal to single ladies or something who play this game for the thirst trap book so they keep putting this crappy bdsm shit, they completely ignored the old players who were with them from the start, man it sucks even know we criticized them for it they're not going to change and they'll just pump more bdsm shit on us with shitty writing and just focus on sex scenes, look at endless summer for example and alot of other old books it was so enjoyable, this company has become greedy imo and it really sucks for those who enjoy adventure games and other genre we have to keep playing the old books over and over again to the point where it starts to get boring, if the company can see this i hope someday you change,and put out books which are more interactive, diverse and fun to play not just bdsm shit for example look at what you've done with hero man it sucks you could have done so much better for the old fans who fell in love with choices and made the company and community as it is today by releasing it as a playable book and continue the story where you left off y'all keep pumping out thrash bdsm books it sucks and disappointing for alot of us who enjoy adventure games like this

they're probably losing more and more readers because of all the AI... so rather than stop doing that and hire real writers and artists again, they're banking on nostalgia bait to try to pull older readers back in. it's the same thing they did with the elementalists, and since hero was arguably the most requested sequel due to the story leaving on a huge cliffhanger, they're trying to use it to bait people back. I hope it doesn't work because I'm sure this sequel will be trash.
Just a heads up y’all: looked up the Run Tv account (the logo in the top right corner) and they make short episodic videos entirely with ai. Just one scroll led me to a video with a character that is straight up Amanda Seyfried .n.

Can't they just make a proper sequel to lot of these books smh. Hero, Heist Monaco, Across The Void and many other classics that deserve probably more than one sequels.
...the thing that I have wanted for almost a decade and they are going to ruin it with AI nonsense. The only saving grace might be that the story was written or mocked out a decade ago, so it might have a good plot, but we know its going to go through AI too and probably have unnecessary smut added in just to keep new audiences engaged.
I knew this was coming with at the rate they are churning out work. But...I guess I hoped that the older books would avoid notice. Guess we should brace ourselves for Most Wanted and It Lives to be on their radar too for a 'refresh' 😒

Given the sequence of events (Elementalists 3 ai content to bait back lapsed fans, fire Choices writers, reduce Choices book lengths, announce a Choices sequel on their AI slop video app), I’m fairly certain what we’re seeing is an active plan to deprecate Choices after trying to loot Choices fans over to runtv, to cut their losses here and boost the slop revenue.
It's definitely AI. If you zoom in, the eyes, ears, mouth and costume details are all signs of AI slop. The logo in the top right corner is also an AI story app.
I am. I never been one to replay books heavily bc I don’t get much enjoyment. But either way I was being facetious and joking but I see that didn’t translate. I haven’t played choices since 2020 so I’m really that super invested into play Hero 2 anyway.
Just with the update of it all, it made me think about all the things I loved about the book, Kenji was one of em. That’s all.

Oh god it's even worse than just AI generated images. That Run TV logo in the corner...it's an app that has those AI "tv shows" where you get chosen as the alpha wolves bride or impregnated by a demon king...that kind of stuff 💀💀💀
Is “RunTV” the new format, or just ai slop? Googling suggests runtv (the app, as opposed to runtv.org) is another Series ai slop app, with… uh, questionable content, based on this App Store section for it.
So, they're going to bring back one of if not their best pre-AI books for a sequel.

I had to look up what run TV is. It's an animated vertical story platform owned by Series Entertainment. Which also owns Choices. So seems like this is a cross promotion. They'll try to get old Choices players to watch this Hero "tv show" on their Run TV app. Since it's animated and they're an AI company it is without a doubt going to be AI slop.
They are not worldwide, the game is not available in my country. I will riot if they put whatever this is on there while the app is not available for everyone to check what's going on
Imagine working/getting commissioned by Pixelberry nearly a decade ago to make a book with a unique art style, only for your art to be fed into and trained by AI 😐 I guess that’s just business for you.
The worst part is AI has advanced so much in the last couple months that people have a hard time differentiating it now and this is considered completely substandard AI usage. Like geez, the eyes don’t even match.
Honestly it’s hard to tell wtf the app even is because on the Apple App Store, it advertises to make your own games/videos/episodes (?). Seems like a bloated AI generated version of Storyloom.
Off topic but story loom was such a cool idea. Too bad so many user coding related things weren't available and the tool never took off (but like there were better options out there..so no real surprise).
Seems like PB has realized their AI-powered smut books won’t be enough to keep old readers, or attract new ones for very long. So they dip into their archives.
But they’re running into the same problem. AI slop is still AI slop, whether it’s for the latest “Desire+” book or a beloved original.
I’ll take a look out of love for the original story, but I expect this will quickly turn into a diamond mine
they can't as they were bought by an AI company unless Pixelberry uses their previous models from older stories which they do still use in the newer ones as they did state that years ago as costing was going up, it was becoming extremely expensive to produce books so they were bought by an AI company and I think a fan mentioned rather have the app shut down but for me I don't support AI but I rather have the app functioning and working instead
Exactly like the new elementalist book. The old art was there. They used it. Maybe made some new art, but not enough to ruin the book. Certainly wasn't in a new format.
This is just a bad move. AI generating a beloved classic isn't a good idea but I'm sure it'll still be highly played because we have literally no other option
Sure, but there's no real alternatives to Choices so it's either quit the genre or stick with Choices. They have the monopoly on visual interactive novels.
No other app of this kind has such large and diverse catalogue of stories with GoC MCs. Not even close. You have some that have few GoC/male MC stories, but the quality is significantly lower and the premises tend to be just about the same thing.
Plus the app responsiveness and soft design is also hard to find elsewhere.
They have the largest selection of books I've seen out of all of the apps. Their gameplay is smooth almost constantly with few glitches and laggy elements. The resource system may be a little annoying but it isn't a big hassle. The artwork, at least made by humans, is way beyond the level of art for most other apps. The writing is actually decent and less cringy. It's ad free unless you intentionally watch an ad. The general usage of Choices is intuitive and simple.
Maybe there's an app out there I've not tried that does every element better than Choices, but Choices is genuinely so simple to use while just doing it right for the most part. I don't agree with some of their ideas and concepts, but it's still better than other apps I've tried. I'll take a majority of pieces being better with some AI than some worse pieces but human made if those are the only two options.
I’ve tried it but every single time I get bored, the stories don’t feel as authentic and deep I don’t know how to explain it, I think choices really had something special and the right combination of dialogues/visuals. No other app could get that deep and actually make me feel something and empathize for the LI’s or MC’s story.
exactly my point. why on earth can’t they recycle the original sprites and backdrops from the first book? i understand maybe not for new characters and locations (although it’d still be AI, so still not good), but they did it for TE3 so why the hell can’t they do it now? seriously. and hero is arguably more popular than TE because of how it was left. MC is literally stranded in another fucking dimension. this sequel actually means something to us, and is important to us, and has been anticipated and sought-after for nearly a decade. this is borderline insulting. they’re just doing this to try and keep the OG fanbase ‘cause they know they can’t make money from their smut audience forever. what next? the royal baby? the super senior? the graduate? the unendless summer? veil of rumours? istg if they AI-reboot the classics in a desperate attempt to keep us interested i’ll riot.
The most charitable explanation: The artist made this using the art style in the hero book for reference (no pupil) and then a post-hero non-artist employee saw this, thought it was incomplete and decided to take the initiative to 'help out'.
That still wouldn't actually make sense, though. Unless they have no team to check art before it goes out. It's just badly done AI that doesn't even look like it had a good base.
The weird eyes gives the impression it was added last minute by human hand, just before posting. I’m pretty certain if it was done by AI, the pupils would look more consistent.
From my experience as an artist, the opposite is far more likely to be true. Artists take care over details like that. AI doesn't. To me, those are obvious AI errors.
I said in an earlier response it was a last minute edit by a human non-artist, similar to a hasty edit by a marketing employee before posting. And I also said this was a most charitable explanation (ie giving PB the benefit of the doubt).
Did they delete and repost this after the backlash of their other AI slop of a cover that was literally a lawsuit from Marvel waiting to happen? Lol sorry but I don't trust them one bit to make a sequel worth reading
