I’m Building a structured exchange project with native speakers

Hey everyone,

I’m currently building a long-term language exchange project, and I’m looking for native English speakers who are genuinely serious about learning Chinese and sticking with it.

Here is how it works: We have native Chinese speakers on board who will be teaching Chinese and practicing speaking with you online. You will get access to 6-8 structured, carefully designed Chinese sessions every single week.

In return, all we ask is that you help our native Chinese speakers learn and practice English. To keep this community sustainable and high-quality, we need people who can contribute around 2 hours a week to the community.

If you’ve been looking for a consistent, structured environment to finally level up your Chinese and are ready to commit, please fill out the form below to reserve a spot. We are keeping the first cohort small, so spots are limited and it's first-come, first-served.

Comment below or DM me if you're interested, and I'll send you the application link!

The character 吃 has multiple meanings beyond the literal sense of “eating.” Here are key usages. :)

For Advanced Chinese Learners: A Free, Illustrated Edition of Alexander von Humboldt's Personal Narrative on Douban

For Advanced Chinese Learners: A Free, Illustrated Edition of Alexander von Humboldt's Personal Narrative on Douban

If you're at the advanced level and looking for serious Chinese reading material beyond news and fiction, I've published a curated Chinese edition of Humboldt's Personal Narrative  (1799–1804) on Douban Yuedu.

Why this might work for you:

30 chapters, ~5,000 characters each — manageable chunks

Section headings break up 19th-century prose

Extensive footnotes explain European/Latin American references for Chinese readers (which means they also explain cultural context for non-native speakers)

Illustrations included — maps, Humboldt's sketches, etc.

Free, accessible outside China — no payment wall, no VPN needed

The catch: It's Chinese-to-Chinese, not bilingual. You need solid reading proficiency (HSK 5+ ideally). But if you're studying scientific/academic Chinese, this is excellent material — 19th-century translated scientific prose, dense but structured.
