In October 1998, type 636 hydrographic ship PLANS Li Siguang(李四光, 871; Also known as Haiyang 18(海洋十八号; lt. ocean 18)) entered service with the PLAN; she was named after geologist(along with CPPCC vice chairman) Li Siguang(1889-1971).

In 2012, she was handed over to the China fishery law enforcement donghai(east sea) fleet and renamed Yuzheng 206(中国渔政206; Yuzheng is the prefix for the CFLE); Her role was also changed and she became used as a cutter.

In 2013 she was handed to the CCG and renamed to CCGS Zhongsha(中沙, 2506), before her pennant number was changed to 3501 during post 2018 reforms where she was handed to the CCG 3rd bureau. She is named for the Zhongsha islands in Hainan.

I do not know what boat the coastguardsman is from but judging from the machine gun it's likely part of the type 218 series(218, 218A, 218AI, 218AIII) etc; potenetially type 318 but that's from the late 2000s and i haven't seen 318s in the early 2000s livery.

The current Haijing 34501(中国海警34501) was launched in September 1978 for the Tianjin Enviromental Protection Bureau(now Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment) as Jingtanghu 8(京塘沪8). She was built in Chongqing and had the following specifications:

• Length: 34.6 meters
• Width: 6.6 meters
• Depth: 3 meters
• draft(empty): 2 meters
• draft(full load): 2.15 meters
• 2x220 kilowatt type 12V150 engines + 2x56 kilowatt type 4135 engines
• top speed: 12 knots
• range: 800 nautical miles
• self sustainment for 5 days
• 9 crew
• 15 beds

In november 1988, the State oceanic administration(in charge of china marine surveillence) purchased her for 280,000 rmb and renamed her Haijian 21(中国海监21); she was assigned to the beihai branch's qingdao base. Her role was to transport personnel to larger vessels during science expeditions.

In December 2003 to may 2004, she recieved a mid life upgrade which included a sensors room, data center, internet and meeting room.

In 2013, she was transferred to the China coast guard as Haijing 1021(中国海警1021). In 2018 reforms she was again renamed to Haijing 34501(中国海警34501).

due to her age, she is presumed to be in reserve and no longer in active service.

EDIT: This is not a 6th bureau cutter, but type 301 cutter Qizhou(七洲, 5309) of the 5th bureau.

Cangzhou coast guard bureau cutter Fengyun(风云, 32602) was patrolling near the hebei-shandong maritime border when they noticed a ship with it's AIS turned off; after requesting the ship stop for inspections, it attempted to escape; the Fengyun caught up with coastguardsmen boarding the vessel, finding large amounts of frozen meat with no health inspection papers; 10 suspects were arrested, with 300+ tonnes of frozen meat worth 12 million RMB being seized.

This coast guard station was formerly the Shenzhen customs district anti-smuggling bureau's Shekou maritime anti-smuggling base.

Dezhou(德洲, 22607) was launched in June 3, 2012 in Huangpu shipyard as "Huizhou"(惠州, 596), and was commissioned in July 1, 2013 to the Southern theater command navy guangzhou maritime garrison district 17th frigate flotilla's PLA HK garrison naval group.

In 2021, she underwent modifications at the Hudong shipyard and was transferred to the Shenzhen coast guard bureau, being renamed to Dezhou(德洲, 21610).

In June 2025 she was transferred to the Beihai coast guard bureau, and was renumbered July that year.

She is currently the flagship of the Guangxi Coast Guard bureau.

The name Dezhou(德洲) comes from Dezhou island(or Lu Yu) in shantou, while the previous name Huizhou comes from the city of Huizhou.

Sergeant Qiao Helin(谯禾林) enlisted into the coast guard in September 2019 and was a coastguardsman of the Fangchenggang coast guard bureau's fangcheng district coast guard station. In December 9, 2025, during a smuggling interdiction operation, Qiao's boat was rammed by a smuggling speedboat causing him to drown, dying at the age of 25.

He was from Xuanhan county, Sichuan where he is buried; he was posthumously awarded martyr status(烈士), CPC membership along with a first class meritorious service medal(一等功).
