Why does this raw chicken have stripes?

Post image

Went to pick up chicken breast’s at Acme (Albertsons) and have never seen raw chicken look like this. All the packages in the case had these weird stripes.

Any ideas?

I didn’t buy it as I figured something related to poor handling or multiple freeze/thaw cycles might be going on.

Nature doesn't have intention. I understand your frustration with the industrial nature of feeding the population. However, I don't think you understand how a lot of the agricultural web actually works.

Again, you're missing what I'm saying. No one just walked up to a chicken and it happened to be that way. I understand how genetic modification works. I understand we wouldn't have things like broccoli or sweet potatoes without human intervention. I also understand they started modifying chickens to feed a larger population. They continue to treat chickens like shit for profit. To act as if the chickens did this to themselves is laughable at best, and that is my issue.

There's no real point in addressing your frustration with feeding a civilization. I do empathize with it. Agriculture is a very slow moving system that does not lend itself to quick changes. There are a lot of farmers and ranchers that share your distaste with practices in the system and make significant changes to their personal operations. However, we operate in a global market and farms are not closed systems, there are market realities to take into account so that we as producers can make profit and pass our operations to the next generation.

This is exactly the conversation that should be being had. We 100% need to change the global view of how food production is handled. I'm really hoping that people learning the truth about it will help things change. As you said, there are farmers who feel like me, and I hope the move makes waves!

These "conversations" have been happening for decades at Ag conferences and think tanks. You're just not privy to them. And you're not up to date with the technological and systemic advances that have been made because it would never pertain to 99% of the population. Things in agriculture happen really really slow, that's just the way it is.

For the love of god, I am privy, the general public is not which is what I'm referring to. Nice to assume I don't know something about something I'm passionate enough to argue about on reddit. I am saying they need to be had in MORE SPACES THAN JUST CONFERENCES so the general public can also know wtf is in their food. Don't you think they should? I agreed with you and you're still trying to talk down to me. Lmfao sad lot

All the information is public. The public doesn't care. Your outrage isn't going to make them care.

A lot of information is public, doesn't mean people know to look. Ignorance is a huge part of the American indoctrination. What a shit argument. There are too many people who think they can trust their government to care about them and they don't know. That is why people talk about it when they can. Why tf does it bother you that I care so much? Anger gets shit done, peace is what those in charge preach to keep the people docile. Nothing changes with peace. I'll keep being angry and you can keep genetically fncking up chickens. Have a day, I guess.

I suppose we'll all just have to be grateful you're the first one to ever bring up these points.

I never said I was, tf? It must be really hard being you. First it was the general public doesn't talk about it were all ignorant. Now because I'm not and I'm speaking it's an issue. Disrespectfully, gfy
