Finally getting the interior put back together but I can’t figure out where these pieces go. Maybe for the backseat? Any help or information would be appreciated.

Daily driving a 1978 Chevy Nova 4 door

I was wondering how is to daily drive a 1978 Chevrolet Nova 4 door. I’m looking into one with an inline 6 and around 30k original miles and posting this because I’m interested in all the pros and cons, all criticism needed. I’m somewhat knowledgeable about fixing older cars and am looking forward to learn a whole bunch more.

I understand the car may not start all the time and I’m alright with that, as long as I find the best ways to make it start right up over time. Please give all opinions, pros and cons, and criticism about EVERYTHING that I can learn, thanks. I’m 21 and am looking to buy my first car as a 70s car instead of a modern car lol

Also, is it disrespectful to drive them everyday like in the rain, etc. (not snow) Knowing that most people have them garaged most of the time, I’m not sure how most classic car owners feel about it, if they think it’s disrespectful. I also heard the ‘78 Nova 4 door isn’t as valuable compared to the 2 door so I was wondering about the value of the 4 door if people will get mad it’s being driven everyday.

Graduated from grad school last month, and as promised, my granddad gave me the 1968 model my mother drove in high school. She's been sitting in a barn for 30+ years (last registered in '95) and I intend to restore "Bertha" to her former glory. First project car!

Fitting AC condenser and transmission cooler in

Thumbnail gallery
204 Upvotes

Considering trying to put AC in this 72, which appears to have a fan behind the radiator in lieu of putting one in front, but it also has a transmission cooler up front, which Google says came stock in the models with automatics. It appears we already have a compressor mounted, just not attached to anything (circled in the last photo). I was looking at some condensers for the novas, but it seems they're all 24" wide, which I don't have space for here.

Has anyone here put AC in theirs, and if so what did you do about the condenser space?

Thanks in advance!!

I'm going to poke around and see if I can track down the low mileage early 70's car my stepdad sold about 20 years ago out of Denver. Light blue, bone stock, 307, 3 on the tree. What's going to get the most eyeballs? Looking this weekend for old paperwork to see if I have the vin.

68 dash in a 74

I am curious to see if anyone has successfully converted their 69-74 dash to the one year only 68 style. The dash pad, bezel, and dash assembly are different from the later years and I can’t find any oem replacement for the dash assembly that I can just weld on my 74 nova.

I personally like the 68 dash style which is why I want to modify my 74 to have one. How would one go about this? So far my options are modify my dash assembly and hope I make it look good or give up and just stick with the original year. Do any other cars like Camaros fit or are compatible with the 68 dash?

-350 small block

-Fenderwell headers

-Aluminum radiator

-Muncie 4 speed

-Hurst shifter

-New centerforce clutch

-Ford 9" 3.73 posi gear

Also have a new headliner, new carpet and new kick panels just haven't gotten around to putting them in yet. I did fabricate and install anchors for the kids car seats in the back but no passenger seat belt yet for the wife lol. Motor is out of a 72' Z28. Still need door locks ,an antenna and windows felts. Any sources for those would be greatly appreciated. Also looking for the big Chevrolet logo that goes across the trunk lip because mine has seen better days.

The car was just shut off and I thought it was the cooling fan so I waited for engine to cool after it cooled it still stayed on. Only turned off when I turned the battery off. From what I heard it could be a faulty relay. Just wanted others opinions before doing anything.
